    This game is for the fans and only to the fans. Shenmue is one of my favorite games of all time and this sequel improves upon that with better graphics and more stuff to do. I am glad the franchise is still going strong. Shenmue forever!!

    Indescribable the feeling of being able to play a shenmue again. Gorgeous graphics, good performance on PS4pro and history that doesn't make you want to stop playing. I already have 8 hours of gampeplay and RECOMMENDED ALL.

    The game have a lot of problems overall, but for us, fans, its a great game, a game that we have waited for 18 years! I like the fact that in terms of gameplay this game almost feels like a Dremcast game released in 2019!

Despite the low budget, this game is beautiful in every way : story, dialogues, fighting system, music, graphics also are quite seducing. This game has to be lived like a life experience, seen like a painting and read as a poem.     I've been playing this game for the past 2 days and have been absolutely blown away! It's been such an experience playing through such a unique and immersive world and following the story of the in depth story of the Shenmue series.

    Finally Shenmue 3 as arrived and I can truly say I'm not disappointed it's exactly what I wanted it to be and it's as unique as ever I can honestly say I've never played anything like it. Yu Suzuki as kept completely faithful to the first 2 game's in the series each character in the game is unique and full of charm and at times hysterically funny but in a good way the game world isFinally Shenmue 3 as arrived and I can truly say I'm not disappointed it's exactly what I wanted it to be and it's as unique as ever I can honestly say I've never played anything like it.     A worthy continuation of the Saga, which we loved so much.

    If you want to see the continuation of the story of Ryo Hazuki and play Shenmue 4, please support the game and buy a licensed copy in the Ps Store, or Epic Games Store.

    Do I think it's a 10 really? No. I'm having to balance out the score. I'll tell you in unbiased terms that the game is good, is it perfect? No. This is a time when you should read rather than look at a score. I'm keeping it spoiler free also so don't expect anything in too much detail.

    The game runs fine on PS4, the claim it does not is a lie. Does not run perfectly, does have minor    Do I think it's a 10 really? No. I'm having to balance out the score.     The game runs fine on PS4, the claim it does not is a lie. Does not run perfectly, does have minor hiccups but I've seen worse hiccups in games like GTA V, Uncharted 4 and such.

    As for the gameplay, It's an improvement in terms of character movement from the previous entries.

    Introduction of a new system where you must eat is problematic and slows the game down far too often, this could do with tweaking as Ryo seems to need to eat more than any normal human who weighs his amount. It's seriously annoying to need to spend money when progressing in the story also requires money. This is something that should maybe tie into game difficulty level rather than being the normal occurance for all difficulties. Patch it in, would make the game better.

    Music is spot on and absolutely flawlessly created, some of it is from the older games which is fine and actually pulls on nostalgia strings so it was probably a smart choice.

    Graphics are a mixed bag, character models for the most part look a bit odd, Ryo and Shenhua both look fine though, Where it shines is it's environment detail which is certainly colorful and vibrant, is the environment more beautiful than Death Stranding? That depends if you prefer a world that is aiming for ultra graphical realism or a world that is colorful and beautiful.

    Fighting mechanics while on video look clunky and horrid actually do not play anywhere near as bad as they look. it's actually quite fun and enjoyable.

    Story is great, acting is Shenmue, that's what we wanted though.

    It's more of a 9 rather than a 10 just for the eating mechanics and that creating monetary issues. Sorry I just had to rebalance the score I hate dishonest people and I hate that I have to be slightly dishonest in a score to cancel those people out.    … Expand

    Whilst the gaming mechanics are reminiscent of the days of the Dreamcast, it does not disappoint. Shenmue 3 is such a dense game, full of many things to keep you occupied and entertained with far more intricacies than you would expect from a kickstarter title with such ambition.

    It helps to play the first 2 games before tackling this (which is lucky as they are also available on PS4, XB1 and PC)

Considering there are over 400+ unique NPCs the overall quality is impressive considering the budget; it really feels like a natural continuation from the previous game; which is no small feat for a gameRuns surprisingly well on base PS4, Environments look amazing and detailed and oh so cozy., NPC visuals are mostly hit, with a few misses dotted here and there with some unimportant NPCs. Considering there are over 400+ unique NPCs the overall quality is impressive considering the budget; it really feels like a natural continuation from the previous game; which is no small feat for a game that's come out 19 years later. Combat feels good and I don't miss the throw moves as much as I thought I would. Music is as atmospheric as ever with some new standout tracks (although they also re-use some previous tracks which is a shame..). All said and done they really came through for Kick starter backers and they should be well happy! The whole package is well beyond what they promised. Highly Recommended.… Expand

The environments are breathtaking. I'm playing on a PS4 Pro and I find myself stopping many times just to awe at the landscape in Bailu and currently in the bustling city of Niaowu. The environments are alive unlike any other game...well other than Shenmue 1 and 2. Yu's attention to detail can be seen in every aspect of these sprawling environments. The only downside so far and it isn't Yu's fault is due to China's gambling laws they had to change the gambling system and it's a bit too much effort to make money that way. One task has you needing to make 2000 yuan and if you were to gamble it would take forever. Much easier to fish, chop wood, or even find herbs to make medicines to sell. If they left it original, the game wouldn't be able to be released in China. big market I guess.… Expand

    So far 5 hours in and it feels like we never stopped playing Shenmue from 2001.

    The game starts you right were you left off in Shenmue 3. It runs amazing on PC. I feel as this is the first game to launch on PC with no issues in a long time.

    Yu Suzuki and his team has done an amazing job. Thank you.

    Seamlessly continues the saga where Shenmue 2 left off, like one of the reviewers said, Shenmue 3 is a love letter to the fans, who waited 18 years to play this masterpiece from Yu Suzuki. Back from the Sega Dreamcast days hails this killer app, the one who elevated RPG’s to open world status, the grand daddy of them all.

    This game is a fantastic continuation of the shenmue story. It is very unique experience as it does not follow conventional standards for open world games in 2019. There is much less hand holding, like older games it allows you to experience the world on your own without a waypoint constantly telling you what to do.     It was worth the wait! After 18 years we finally have a game that is completely different from everything we have in the industry. Shenmue 3 does not have the best graphics, however the game has the soul from the golden era, where games had a message to pass.

It is too bad there are so few games like this one, with an artistic touch, a cultural experience, a detailed world with a realism effort. And a sensitive approach which generally lacks in the media.     I am so impressed by this game. It is truly a masterpiece especially since it came out of a Kickstarter. Can you believe the continuity between a game from 18 years ago. The graphics are impressive and the immersion into the environment and people is so Shenmue like. The story is great but won’t spoil anything.

    It is not perfect of course, but as his two predecessors, it is a true invitation to a journey in china.
    It has a really unique atmosphere , with gorgeous music and environnement.
    I can't recomand enough the game to the fan, and to the curious :)

    Amazing. YS and his team has captured the essence of Shenmue from all those years ago and brought it to the present day. To say this was made on a limited budget with limited development tools adds to how much of an amazing achievement and package this is.

    This is exactly what I hoped Shenmue 3 would feel like! It's not as perfect video game, but its perfect to the long time fans. What Yu and his team did on budget of around 7 million is astounding! A lot of quality of life improvements have been made while still retaining the feel of Shenmue. I'm in love!

    When people said it was the same feeling as playing the first ones, I couldn't believe it was going to be so Shenmue.

    I have spent the coupons on toy capsules, I have been bothered by children and I have spent all night opening drawers. It's all I could wish for and more, I had good expectations, but not so good, after so much time ...     Magic in all aspects, this qualification is personal, I find myself living those wonderful moments that 18 years ago shenmue gave us to many, it is a cult, relaxing and beautiful game that I would love that everyone enjoys.

    It's incredible that Yu Suzuki's team—which is smaller than the team that worked on the first game—managed to make Shenmue 3 feel exactly like the first two entries. Playing this game made me feel like I was 10 years old again.

    I really enjoy playing this game. Love the story, characters, picturesque locations and battle system. It's true that technically and graphically it's far from current AAA games but that's not what's most important for me. Shenmue 3 is full of charm and magic I loved about previous games.

    Shenmue III is EXACTLY the game we dreamed of all those years.
    It sure looks like it was made in 2002 or so, but with HD graphics.

    It's amazing, mesmerizing, and clearly made with love.

    I never thought I'd see this degree of beauty on an indie game. Shenmue III Looks so gorgeous.. ignore those haters saying that this looks like a PS2 game, obviously they don't know what they are talking about.

    A different game that needs patience when playing it. Not for everyone.

    New Player of shenmue. I first watched videos resume of shenmue 1 and 2 and then I tried to play to that one. And what a amazing game. Even if graphically it's not the best game for a ps4.
    Don't judge the game about the graphics but try it and you won't regret. I'm looking forward to play to shenmue 4

    For a newcomer to the game i feel this might not be for them. But for me as a fan of the whole saga for the last 19 years and on the budget Yu Suzuki had to create this game, it is everything I wanted. The voice dialog, the setting, the music, everything about it brings that nostalgia feel back from the original titles. It wont be everyone's cup of tea, but for me it is what it is and I love it.

    Saturated with charm and personality, Shenmue finally returns to us after almost two decades. Beautiful environments, fascinating NPCs and an engaging storyline. A seamless transition from the earlier games while also building greatly on the combat, training, exploration and trading aspects.

I loved the story and how unique the game was so grabbed Shenmue 3. It is a perfect blend of keeping the shenmue soul while adapting to modern game play. Absolutely breathtaking.     Shenmue 3 his music his history his fighting system and excellent graphics. Keeps his esscence intact.Some technical problems that can ve solved with an update such as the synchronization of some melodies and loading errors. Shenmue 3 an excellent game for those who are new in the saga, and Masterpiece for those who expected it for years.

    As a Shenmue faithful since the Dreamcast days this re-opened a part of my brain/and gaming that I had thought long gone. It has felt like being home, and being safe in a way no other game as ever made me feel. Blessed.

If ur new to the series watch some shenmue recap videos on youtube and or the one that comes with the game you will be caught up with the story. And I can’t think of anybody who is a fan of this franchise that can honestly call this game good with a straight face. Get this game if you’re a fan of the series, but don’t be surprised if it just ends up making you hate yourself for waiting nearly two decades for what is essentially the video game equivalent of Freddy Got Fingered.

    Shenmue 3 is a tough recommendation for general audiences. It won't please the die-hard fans of the originals due the step backwards in terms of game design. Neophytes who are curious about it will be confused and bored by the sleep-inducing pace, plus the how the voice acting has not changed since the early '00s. The visuals may have improved, and the loading times are a thing of the past, but this is still has the soul of a Dreamcast title. It won't live up to the expectations that fans have, nor will it excite interest in the franchise. Nothing of substance gets solved by the conclusion, and there's a lack of a pay-off to playing such an intentionally slow experience. The highs in Shenmue 3 involve doing what amounts to nothing; that is just taking in the atmosphere and exploring.
