If you’re after a new puzzle game to play, you’d be wise to consider Shady Part of Me, especially if you’re drawn to its moody aesthetic. Just be aware that it probably won’t hold your attention with a vice-like grip due to the repetitive nature of many of its puzzles. While it’s not a long game by any means, you’re more likely to enjoy it over numerous sittings, rather than being glued to the screen from beginning to end.

Shady Part of Me is a decent puzzle platformer, which offers some inventive challenges and an overall polished presentation. That said, almost everything about the game, including its story, aesthetic, and core mechanics, are lifted wholesale from more memorable indie games like Braid, Limbo, Little Nightmares, and Contrast. Like a shadow cast upon your bedroom wall, Shady Part of Me may be fleetingly interesting, but it won’t leave a lasting impression.

Discreto puzzle-platform, con qualche meccanica interessante e uno stile grafico sicuramente apprezzabile.
    Discreti anche gli enigmi.

On the other, her adult self represented by her shadow trying to flee the loneliness to reconcile with the world.

In this puzzle game, we successively take control of the little girl and her shadow. The former refusing to expose herself to the light, the latter will need shadow to progress, while her dark alter ego needs light to move forward, a beautiful symbolic antagonism.

The mechanism of progression is partially reminiscent of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons since we must successively take control of the little girl modeled in 3D and her shadow in 2D to be able to move forward.

We will underline the particular care given to the puzzles for their clarity and originality. The possibility to rewind our progress like a movie, in case of bad steps. This is more than welcome because it softens the platform phases to focus on the essential, that is to say the puzzles and the narration.

Concerning the music, not having a musical ear, I didn't pay too much attention to it.

    Facing your fears
Shady Part of Me is a 4 hour long puzzle platformer where you play asa girl whos afraid of the light, but you also play as her shadow.
Shady Part of me starts as one of the most unique gaming experiences ive played in a while.. youll be going back and forth between the two characters, pulling levers and items to help the other progress, and for its first half its absolutely magical, reminding me a lot of limbo… howver Shady Part of Me suffers from the same thing I believe limbo does… and that’s just its second half being boggges down with too much puzzle… this is Shady Part of Me’s biggest issue.. it starts out amazing, you forget this is a puzzle game just due to the fact that interacting with its world is so fun, you cant wait to see what the next section has to offer… and then you get smacked with the same old boring cogs and factory nonsense, really killing the magic for me in this game… it gets more and more tiresome the more the game goes on as it loses focus, it stops trying to tell you a story and deliver magic and just starts hitting you over the head with puzzle puzzle puzzle, the game starts to feel like forumelic sections of puzzles rather than a a well crafted and clever experience much like unravel that shady part of me starts as…
That being said Shady Part of Me is a great puzzle game and its first half is all magic, its just a shame it turns to the same old puzzle platforming stuff towards the end that weve all seen a million times..
I give Shady Part of Me
    a 7.5/10
