Overall, The Shady Part of Me was a good time. There were times I didn’t know what was going on in the story, but the simple feel of its mechanics while still keeping the complexity of the puzzles really kept me going. Its a really interesting game that I think puzzle platforming fans should try, and with its rewind feature and the bit-sized progression aspects, it makes the entire thing an enjoyable time all the way though.

Indie games often get overshadowed by their much larger and longer counterparts, but sometimes a solid indie title is just what you need to shake up your gaming experience. While it may not be an exceptionally long game, Shady Part of Me is worth the time playing it through. It has interesting gameplay and a beautiful aesthetic that surrounds what is a pretty somber story. In a game that revolves around themes of darkness, sadness, uncertainty and fear, one quote from the game was a bright spot for me: “Hand in hand, we break free from this nether. Step by step, we will rise together”.

While Shady Part of Me doesn’t quite reach the heights of a Limbo, Inside or Little Nightmares, it more than belongs in that illustrious group of puzzle platformers. For a game that arrived with little hype or fanfare, it’s a welcome and unexpected light at the end of a dark 2020.

An all-around average platformer which has a heavy focus on a story that can be somewhat confusing and leave you wondering what happens. What may set it apart is the voice acting that plays out most of the game. There is constant chatter and it is a pleasant back-and-forth conversation. Some of the puzzles can be pretty fun, especially while in the shadow form. While it’s average, what really gives it high marks is that it’s extremely well done: being able to rewind time; chapter selection; somewhat difficult collectibles; and no glitches to be found; I think it’s a very solid game.

Shady Part of Me is a puzzle title with an impressive and introspective aesthetic that tries to renounce everything that does not contribute to the story that it wants to teach us. Still, it sometimes gets lost in his own gameplay and leaves too many loopholes trying to be more mysterious than needed.

    I wasn't ready!
I went into The Shady Side of Me not really knowing what to expect other than it being a puzzle platformer with striking visuals ( the visuals are what initially drew me towards the game as they bore connotations to the likes of Little Nightmares which is definitely up my street!) What I was met with was an extremely emotional and thought provoking tale of a girls struggle with depression and anxiety. This touching narrative was expertly woven into a clever and we'll thought out puzzler with platforming segments that have you intertwining between 2D and 3D sections effortlessly. The music and overall sound design paired with the as fore mentioned visuals makes for a memorable experience that will leave you deep in thought long after the games credits have rolled.

Embark on a dream-likeShady Part Of Me has you overcome emotional struggles across a touching narrative filled with twists and surprises. Embark on a dream-like journey, with breathtaking artistic direction and the enthralling voice of Hannah Murray. Shady Part of Me gives players a role as a young lady who is scared of light, and her living shadow, which by its tendency, needs light to exist. It's a cunning difference, that serves the game's story and level plan genuinely well. You start in what gives off an impression of being a mental clinic, prior to moving onto an assortment of different areas, some semi-grounded, some more illusory and fantastical. As you progress, the young lady and her shadow talk about their excursion, pieces of text that mirror their questions seem superimposed on the climate, and ultimately, scraps of exchange from someone who seems like an advisor can be heard. In spite of being somewhat subordinate, Shady Part of Me began to develop on me, yet similarly as the game was beginning to get amazing, it suddenly was finished. You can finish this game in around three hours in case you're a genuine ace, albeit most will probably take some place in the five-hour area. There are additionally various concealed origami feathered creatures to gather, yet even with that, this present game's shadow isn't probably going to reach out past a solitary end of the week. The game is with the price of admission so be sure to head over to your Xbox digital games store and add it to your robust Xbox digital games library. Expand

Shady Part of Me is a 4 hour long puzzle platformer where you play asa girl whos afraid of the light, but you also play as her shadow.
Shady Part of me starts as one of the most unique gaming experiences ive played in a while.. youll be going back and forth between the two characters, pulling levers and items to help the other progress, and for its first half its absolutely magical, reminding me a lot of limbo… howver Shady Part of Me suffers from the same thing I believe limbo does… and that’s just its second half being boggges down with too much puzzle… this is Shady Part of Me’s biggest issue.. it starts out amazing, you forget this is a puzzle game just due to the fact that interacting with its world is so fun, you cant wait to see what the next section has to offer… and then you get smacked with the same old boring cogs and factory nonsense, really killing the magic for me in this game… it gets more and more tiresome the more the game goes on as it loses focus, it stops trying to tell you a story and deliver magic and just starts hitting you over the head with puzzle puzzle puzzle, the game starts to feel like forumelic sections of puzzles rather than a a well crafted and clever experience much like unravel that shady part of me starts as…
That being said Shady Part of Me is a great puzzle game and its first half is all magic, its just a shame it turns to the same old puzzle platforming stuff towards the end that weve all seen a million times..
I give Shady Part of Me
    a 7.5/10

The game is really nice until around the half of it, when you begin to understand the story will stay blurry and the last chapter is artificially (and uselessly) made longer through (too) complex puzzles finally.
