Shadow Warrior on PS4 is a brilliant homage to what make the 90's video gaming world so entertaining!

Between the game’s graphics, gameplay, and $40 price tag, Shadow Warrior is a definite buy. It offers hours of gory, hack-and-slash fighting, and focuses on just being a really fun game. If you are looking for developed characters or a story you can really get into, Shadow Warrior might not be for you.

Shadow Warrior is a game that you simply must own, because it represents a by gone era where videogames didn’t take themselves at all seriously. And we all need a bit of fun in our lives.

Shadow Warrior is a great game full with blood, gore and a lot of one-liners. It has some great action, but the implementation of the touch pad on the PlayStation 4 doesn't work well and a little bit more of variation wouldn't kill.

Lo Wang's return is highly enjoyable, even though the controls aren't as responsive as they should be and the gameplay lacks variation. Ah well, you can't have everything, I suppose.

Harkening back to a bygone era, Flying Wild Hog’s nostalgic re-imagining of Shadow Warrior is filled to the brim with bad words, b-grade jokes, buckets of blood, bullets and blades. And sometimes, that’s all a gamer needs.

Thanks to an old-school style and humour, Shadow Warrior makes the difference with all these modern FPS which keep showing off.

    It's undeniably simple. [Christmas 2014, p.88]

Shadow Warrior is without a doubt a big, dumb thrill ride. It isn’t looking to push the boundaries of what we can expect from a video game narrative, but could have perhaps invested a bit more in keeping its blade sharp through more diverse enemy types and combos. However, even with that said, even a dull blade is fun to swing around at times.

Shadow Warrior is an entertaining game, perhaps limited in it's technical possibilities, but perfect to have a great time listening bad jokes, tearing apart demon limbs with a katana and shooting around. Pretty straightforward. It won't give you anything new, but it won't disappoint you.

It's a good action game, and it has one single aim: make sure the player has fun. It feels a little bit pricey, but it's worth checking out if you miss 90's action games.

Shadow Warrior is a good shooter that stands out for its humor and fast-paced action, and that's enough to satisfy fans of FPS until something more substantial.

Shadow Warrior isn't a classic, but it's a game that exists in an area that we rarely see these days, and is great fun to mess about with.

As a smarter-than-it-looks nostalgia trip, then, Shadow Warrior delivers, and as long as you keep that in mind - and consume it in moderation - it's an easy recommendation.

It may need help to stand tall, but when it's pumped with blood, it rocks. [Christmas 2014, p76]

The talent is there, and it's wasted on a game like this which, fun as it is, doesn't live up to the promise of its screenshots.

For a game obsessed with OTT violence and knob gags this is a surprisingly charming and likeable shooter, if an unavoidably shallow and repetitive one.

Shadow Warrior is more than just puerile jokes and demons – there are some quite interesting technical faults in there as well. The personality of the game is enough to recommend to those that enjoy old-school shooters, but it comes with a warning: Wang should probably be taken in small doses.

awesome, lots of awesome. too much awesome for $40. its old school fun, a la serious sam and wolfenstein. the graphics are decent, but notawesome, lots of awesome. too much awesome for $40. its old school fun, a la serious sam and wolfenstein. the graphics are decent, but not amazing. the colors are nice and the frame rate is a nearly consistent 60 though. the guns feel right, the upgrades are interesting, and the level design is simple with a few rewarding secrets scattered through out. did I mention it's hilarious? if you have 40 bucks to drop and you want to return (however briefly) to the world of old school PC shoot em ups, then this game is for you. aweeeeeeeeesome! In a world of regenerating health and 2 weapon limits this is EXACTLY what we need. reminders of the 90s where shooters raised us to expectIn a world of regenerating health and 2 weapon limits this is EXACTLY what we need. reminders of the 90s where shooters raised us to expect great things of them. Shadow warrior Isn't perfect and if nostalgia isn't a factor for you you can drop my score from a 9 to an 8 easy, and its a bit too long (try saying that to a triple A title) but the weapons are unique and its fun to kill things and and thats what counts, its still not quite oldschool tot he extent i want it to be, levels tend to be series of long arena battles tied together, although not always and you wont be too botherd by it because the combat is fun Full Review »

Actually Shadow Warrior definitely is not better than TLOUR and especially Bloodborne. There are minor bugs here and there, You cant compare A/V in those titles because its clearly not same level.
But its what it was supposed to be. Pure mindless fun. And I even enjoyed the story more than in TLOUR - maybe dumber but feels a lot more fresh than another zombie flick. I love oneliners, fortune telling cookies, but most of all I love this old school feel of combat.
This game is much like summer blockbuster from Michael Bay so if Youre in to this kind of entertainment Youll love it. I know I am, now give me bigger better Shadow Warrior 2!
Btw. Devolver Digital rises to one of my favourite companies on the gaming industry.
