    Shadow Warrior 2
A great game with too much repeat
Shadow Warrior 2 is a first person shooter slash hack and slash game where you play as lo Wang... The story starts with this girl getting possessed and her soul leaving her body and entering yours... so you have a girl in your head, and not in a good way.. You spend the rest of the game trying to reunite her soul with her possessed

Shadow Warrior 2 is a first person shooter slash hack and slash game where you play as lo Wang...
The story starts with this girl getting possessed and her soul leaving her body and entering yours...
so you have a girl in your head, and not in a good way..
You spend the rest of the game trying to reunite her soul with her possessed body…
The first half of this about 6 hour campaign if you stick to just the story, closer to 10 if you play around with side missions is pure joy…
The most fun I’ve had in a game in a while…
The levels here are pretty open, there’s platforming double jumps and climbing ledges, and everything feels extremely smooth and polished…
The game is delivered through a hub area where you take on quests and sell items.. You then open your map, choose the mission location and teleport there…
There’s a marker on the map for every mission with dots leading the way...
And in these world are tons of enemies trying to kill you that you could ignore unless they’re tied to the objective or you can slice them up for drops and xp…
There’s an insane amount of variety in weapons and upgrades to make your weapons feel unique….
You can get both from enemy drops, shops, completing missions, and chests around the open maps…
This amount of variety is a gift and a curse though because there’s so much choice that it feels almost paralyzing…
Enemies are dropping all of these items constantly and you have so much to sift through that it feels overwhelming and I just started ignoring them since what I had was getting the job done…
the mission design and world design overall is initially varied and well-designed fun to play through…
but onto the 2nd half of the campaign… where you have to go back to levels you’ve already been to..
and on top of that they throw in keycards where oh you get to a door and its locked, run back the way you came and kill the enemy holding it and then run all the way back here…
I’ve never been a fan of replaying levels, and I never will be… shadow warrior 2 is no exception despite how fun and satisfying this combat is…
it feels great going from katana, to gun with the tap of a button, pulling out a chainsaw or using your powers to pull spikes out of the ground
On top of dropping upgrades and weapons, enemies also drop chi and health packs,
And you can increase the drop rate, effectiveness along with other perks using the skill points you get from completing missions and leveling up…
and you need this chi to pull these spikes up or blast overwhelming enemies back…
And while the combat is fun, it’s not even my favorite part of the game..
The writing, it’s hilarious, its sweet…
it always keeps you waiting for the punchline, and I was laughing from start to finish at the banter between every character in the game…
Combat banter is there too, but of course it starts repeating and gets old pretty quickly…
The only other issue I had with this game aside from repeat levels, is a bug in the trials…
after completing a trial it wouldn’t let me leave so I had to back out into the main menu… this caused me to lose the progress of an entire mission I completed because you have to save the game by crossing the path of a shrine… there is no auto save.. A little annoying... so I didn’t touch these trials beyond the first… which means I stayed away from the crafting system here..
And again... the choices are overwhelming as it is, I didn’t need more choices…
Shadow Warrior 2 is a blast to play through, one of the most enjoyable first person shooters in recent memory…
    I give Shadow Warrior 2
    an 8/10

Negatives include game isn't very challenging, mindless killing the whole game countered with some basic strategic elements, when repetitiveness of this game kicks in, it kicks in hard, you'll just want this game to end because you realize the rest of the game will be the same. All in all fun and mindless (don't take that as a completely negative thing) killing game with the hope of rare loot (this game summed up in one sentence). Also a generous 8.0/10 because not full priced game at release. Expand

I would like the start with the fact that I have never played Shadow Warrior 1 and I mostly play Shadow Warriors 2 in Co-op. I truly missed games like Shadow Warrior 2, they have become so rare and sadly that has been especially the case on the PS4. Three weeks ago I started up the game for the first time, in single player, I played through the tutorial and afterwards, I directly closed the application. The gameplay wasn't bad it just felt a little weird, same for the Art Style and Graphics. I told my best buddies that I bought a game that was freaking awesome and playable in Co-op, but honestly, at the time I just wished it was awesome '' we really needed something fresh to play''. One of my friends directly liked the idea of the game, but was a little sceptical and wanted to see some gameplay through Share Play, so I started up the game (second time ever) and started playing. It took a full 15 minutes and bam we both became super enthusiastic. The Sword mechanics still felt a little bit weird but I was killing things with it and I slowly started to control the sword as a master. The game is extremely satisfying, as a coop experience, you both find your own loot, there is no reviving mechanic, meaning if one dies the monster's health bar just reset and I think that works extremely well. You constantly try to keep each other alive (you watch one another) instead of trying to get somebody back to life occasionally and that only strengthen the Co-op experience. This game has a lot of different difficulty settings from Easy to Insanity and Insanity has multiple difficulty levels on it own. Insanity 1 is the start, Insanity 2 is the logical next step, Insanity 3-4 is where the pain starts and from their, you start to wish again you could super fast revive your mate instead of resetting the monster's health bars you had been busy cutting into for the last 2 hours! Grrrrr, this game is great because it's not too easy, it doesn't hold your hand and tells you which mission you need to do, neither does it forces you a certain path on skill three, no ,no you free to go where you want to, and to molt and shape your character the way you like it '' I only hope for you, that you characters vision will work or you will keep dying a horrible death, over and over and over, reset, after reset, after reset..... a lot of weapons, same humour, plenty of missions

what bothered me was changing environment from green to techno city which led to less chopping and slicing :(

Terribly underrated game. I can’t think of a better fps. I have played them all. This is one of my favorite games ever. Can’t wait for 3 to get here. Not happy with the direction gaming is headed . Glad there are still games like this gem being made

extremely underrated fps that is way more fun than DOOM , Destiny, Any COD. This game is Fun that simple. Very good and addicting fun with no micro transactions. The comedy can be a bit cheesy but overall the story is worth completing. The guns and the varieties of upgrades including elemental ammo and various stat boosts. It has a very nice quest structure with side quests actually giving substational benefits and new weapons (many weapons in this game) I really enjoyed it.

I was curious for a while and bought Shadow Warrior 2 for my PS4 Pro on the recent PSN sale. So far I m pretty positive on the game. Here are my personal insights:

    Graphics 7 to 8:
The graphics look decent to good. Some facial expressions and hair could need some improvements, also sometimes anti aliasing would be huge to reduce some stairway effects. The monsters and the environment look great. I didnt have any frame drops so far, combat was fluent. One more point I dont like too much is the overload of effects and colors. Especially in the beginning you have a hard time to understand whats going on and how to spot chests. The game still looks very good.

    Gameplay 8 to 9:
You have a massive arsenal of light, medium and heavy guns plus a nice collection of melee weapons. Every weapon can be customized with elemental dmg and other specialties. Weapons can then be placed for quick swapping which on top has a different quick swap for melee and ranged. Well made! Swapping on the go is easy. So its up to you or the enemy type what you want to use. Melee combat is fun and can be enhanced by special powers and skill trees. Some special attacks do spin your view and get really confusing. After all the combat system is fun and very fluent.

    Story and surroundings 8:
The story is lacking a bit in comparison to other games but it has an insanely huge amount of humor in it which made me giggle and smile more than once. Whereas the story itself is kind of dull the humor makes up for it and actually drives the game. Its all about the mockery and I love it! If you are into a true well written and accurate story line.... dont buy it.

    Sum up:
If you are looking for a well made fun shooter with a fluent combat system and a tremendous humorous story then this game is perfect. I would ve appreciated some more PS4 pro optimizations but the game still looks very good on my 65 4K TV and runs smooth without any drops for me.

If you grab it on a decent sale I m pretty sure you wont be disappointed.

    On a sidenote:
People compare it to the PC version which might offer more and better graphics but I didnt consider this because I wanted the game for PS4 no matter what and so I only do rate what I got here in comparison to its price on the market.

If you are able to get it on the PC and run a decent system, your system of choice might be probably the PC version.

Definitely an underrated game. I somehow never even heard of this series until 2022. I'm a big fan
of games with very fast movement speed and when I saw the movement was similar to doom I had
to try it and wasn't disappointed. I also tried shadow warrior 3 but felt 2 is much better. The meleeing is better and you get more abilities/skills in 2 than 3 as well. For anyone thinking of

An addictive, atmospheric, and gloriously violent demon slaughterfest. I really enjoyed this turbocharged shooter, even though the protagonist Lo Wang can be really annoying at times.

The swift gunplay is upgraded with some basic RPG features, but the repetitive quest hunt structure slows down the fun. This Wang needed a virtual Viagra to impress. [July 2016, p.84]

If you didn't get a chance to play it on PC last year, Shadow Warrior 2 on consoles is still worth your time, but this version is not on par with the PC one, with halved framerate, no HDR and no new content.
