The collection of games itself is just such incredible value, covering off such a broad range of SEGA's history when it was at its very finest, that anyone missing out on this is doing themselves a real disservice. Heck, for the three Phantasy Star games in there alone I would instantly recommend this package. That series was every bit as good as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest back in the day.

Unless you own an impressive collection of 16 bit cartridges and an old TV, this is the best way to play Sega classic games. We miss some titles (especially racers, shooters and third party) and more extras, but still a great compilation for old school gamers.

If you love the 16-bit era as much as I do then purchasing Sega Genesis Classics should be mandatory. With loads of must-have games and hidden gems, you're bound to spend hours upon hours reliving one of the best eras in gaming history.

Sega Genesis Classics delivers modern convenience options and passable emulation across its fifty-three titles. No Genesis collection can be definitive without support from third-parties, but new additions like Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier help curtain the perpetual void in Sega's compilations. At $30, Sega Genesis Classics is an easy and accessible way to appreciate a selection of the Genesis' best work.

Another generous collection of old-time classics, packed with a charming retro-nerd interface, online gaming and some pretty challenging new features.

Sega Genesis Classics is without a doubt the best homage the old 16-bit Sega console could receive. With 50 games, which features solid gold trilogies, only the retrogaming haters may miss this very best-of, lacking the expired license-based titles. The new interface offers countless options to prevent us from frustration, and the four saves slots for each game could take you back to the past for more than a few hours.

Lots of good/great games in a competent package. But... where are the third party classics?

This may not be a necessary purchase for somebody who still has their Sega Genesis collection from the last console generation, but this is a great assortment of Sega Genesis games and at least one of these collections should be in a every retro game fan’s library.

Despite the lack of some great titles and a technically forgettable multiplayer, SEGA Mega Drive Classics is a good collection that offers dozens of hours in old-style fun.

With more than 50 games and a ton of options to customize your experience, SEGA Mega Drive Classics is just pure fun and nostalgia. Too bad some iconic games missed the cut.

The game selection menu is a clever throwback that feels steeped in history. The trophies and challenges are a great way to add some more challenge. Being able to fast-forward is perfect for some of the slower RPGs, while the rewind feature is almost too much power for someone as feckless and impatient as myself. While I continue to lament the lack of certain exceptional titles, the wide range of games being offered helps ease that pain.

Packed with both nostalgia and great games, Sega Mega Drive Classics delivers a true retro experience. Visualization options are pretty much cool this time, and everything works as a Mega Drive suited for today´s screens, with a decent line up of the system´s finest. Significant absences hurt the overall quality, though.

Sega has done a real good job porting some of the best 50 games of the Mega Drive / Genesis console to PS4 and Xbox One. A must for retro lovers.

This is a thoughtful collection offering dozens of very good games, and they look and play as well as you could expect without retro hardware or a CRT TV. The games aren't all classics, but there is something for everyone and chances are there's a brilliant game in here somewhere you never managed to catch the first time around.

SEGA Mega Drive Classics is a beautiful collection, a dive into the past for the old videogamers, an entertaining glimpse into the 16bit world for the younger gaming class.
