May 25, 2018Sega Genesis Classics boasts an amazing collection of 50 games, all of which will keep you busy and entertained for hours. Some of the games can be challenging to a fault, but that's just the way some old school games were made. The games hold true to their original forms and bring you a cartridge full of nostalgia that you can pop right into the console of your heart.
-
May 25, 2018The collection of games itself is just such incredible value, covering off such a broad range of SEGA's history when it was at its very finest, that anyone missing out on this is doing themselves a real disservice. Heck, for the three Phantasy Star games in there alone I would instantly recommend this package. That series was every bit as good as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest back in the day.

May 25, 2018Unless you own an impressive collection of 16 bit cartridges and an old TV, this is the best way to play Sega classic games. We miss some titles (especially racers, shooters and third party) and more extras, but still a great compilation for old school gamers.
-
May 26, 2018If you love the 16-bit era as much as I do then purchasing Sega Genesis Classics should be mandatory. With loads of must-have games and hidden gems, you're bound to spend hours upon hours reliving one of the best eras in gaming history.

Jun 1, 2018There’s a disappointing lack of museum features, but you can’t really argue with 50 classic Mega Drive games, online play, and a surprisingly generous price tag.
-
Jun 1, 2018Sega Genesis Classics delivers modern convenience options and passable emulation across its fifty-three titles. No Genesis collection can be definitive without support from third-parties, but new additions like Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier help curtain the perpetual void in Sega's compilations. At $30, Sega Genesis Classics is an easy and accessible way to appreciate a selection of the Genesis' best work.
-
May 31, 2018Another generous collection of old-time classics, packed with a charming retro-nerd interface, online gaming and some pretty challenging new features.
-
May 28, 2018Sega Genesis Classics is without a doubt the best homage the old 16-bit Sega console could receive. With 50 games, which features solid gold trilogies, only the retrogaming haters may miss this very best-of, lacking the expired license-based titles. The new interface offers countless options to prevent us from frustration, and the four saves slots for each game could take you back to the past for more than a few hours.
-
May 25, 2018Lots of good/great games in a competent package. But... where are the third party classics?
-
May 25, 2018This may not be a necessary purchase for somebody who still has their Sega Genesis collection from the last console generation, but this is a great assortment of Sega Genesis games and at least one of these collections should be in a every retro game fan’s library.
-
Jun 5, 2018Despite the lack of some great titles and a technically forgettable multiplayer, SEGA Mega Drive Classics is a good collection that offers dozens of hours in old-style fun.
-
Jun 7, 2018With more than 50 games and a ton of options to customize your experience, SEGA Mega Drive Classics is just pure fun and nostalgia. Too bad some iconic games missed the cut.
-
Jun 4, 2018The game selection menu is a clever throwback that feels steeped in history. The trophies and challenges are a great way to add some more challenge. Being able to fast-forward is perfect for some of the slower RPGs, while the rewind feature is almost too much power for someone as feckless and impatient as myself. While I continue to lament the lack of certain exceptional titles, the wide range of games being offered helps ease that pain.
-
Jun 1, 2018Packed with both nostalgia and great games, Sega Mega Drive Classics delivers a true retro experience. Visualization options are pretty much cool this time, and everything works as a Mega Drive suited for today´s screens, with a decent line up of the system´s finest. Significant absences hurt the overall quality, though.
-
May 28, 2018Sega has done a real good job porting some of the best 50 games of the Mega Drive / Genesis console to PS4 and Xbox One. A must for retro lovers.
-
May 25, 2018This is a thoughtful collection offering dozens of very good games, and they look and play as well as you could expect without retro hardware or a CRT TV. The games aren't all classics, but there is something for everyone and chances are there's a brilliant game in here somewhere you never managed to catch the first time around.
-
May 25, 2018SEGA Mega Drive Classics is a beautiful collection, a dive into the past for the old videogamers, an entertaining glimpse into the 16bit world for the younger gaming class.
-
May 25, 2018It isn’t the most complete or elaborated collection, but it is indeed one filled with nostalgia and great games.
-
Aug 2, 2018With over 50 games on the roster Sega Mega Drive Classics has something for most retro fans. Granted most of the games have already been seen in older collections and the emulation is not always perfect, but the ability to quick save and especially rewind is a game changer. Even though some will call it cheating, the ability to undo mistakes makes the classic games much more accessible and enjoyable than ever before.
-
Jun 5, 2018The games are still great, and for any newcomers to SEGA or just games in general I say buy this to experience these titles because it’s the most forgiving any of these games have been. As an archival look at SEGA’s glory days though this is yet another fumble and I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it, especially when a more complete collection has been available on Steam for years and was updated to share the same features as the console release (and it has more games in it).
-
May 25, 2018This collection of titles from a golden age of Sega has some of the greatest 16-bit games ever made included, and also features a few important, if dated, gems. The extra challenges and nifty menu screen are pleasing additions, but thanks to minor latency issues and the existence of multiple Sega game collections over the years, this is only really recommended for the sake of convenience and/or curiosity.
-
May 25, 2018A very generous package, offering over 50 16-bit titles for a very reasonable price. The emulation is of a very high standard, and quality of life improvements such as game saves make the often tough titles more digestible. Online play, leaderboards, and challenges help flesh it all out, too, giving you a decent amount of extras on top of the broad range of action games, RPGs, platformers, and everything in between. For many, the nostalgia overload will be enough to spur on a purchase, but those who may have missed out on the Mega Drive will find that this is an ideal way to experience its best titles -- if you can excuse some disappointing omissions.
-
Jun 4, 2018A fun collection with a lot of diverse games that invokes a lot of nostalgia. The games are emulated perfectly and extra options such as load and save states come in extremely handy. At its core this is a solid package but the fact that the controls are poorly explained is a missed opportunity. Also, a number of high profile third party titles are blatantly absent. There aren't any extra features either but it doesn't take away from the fact that this is a solid package overall.
-
May 29, 2018I looked at Sega Genesis Classics with rose-tinted glasses. Nostalgia is a hard card to play right. The menu effectively creates that feeling of being a young kid gaming again, but the games themselves rarely managed to recapture the magic my 10-year-old self saw in them.
-
May 25, 2018Many of the games featured were great back in the day, but if we're going to revisit them now, it'd be nice to have some more features for the nostalgic amongst us to enjoy.
-
May 25, 2018A very well put together retro collection that takes a group of games that are well remembered and drags them into the 21st century. It’s not going to overly surprise, but nor is it meant to.
-
Jul 9, 2018A compilation does not need to do much to honour its legacy. It is expected that the games play exactly as they did when they released, at the very least. Having them play worse is unacceptable. The technical issues may not be as noticeable in some titles, but they utterly break the likes of Alien Soldier.
