    Well it does all the minimum a Risk game should do but nothing else. There are three modes available and it is the same three rule variations that come in the instruction manual for the original game. I mostly judge board game adaptations as how long will I be watching stupid animations and Ubisoft's Risk is terrible. There is an option to speed up the animation and not listen to annoying voice lady announce everything but you have to choose to speed it up EVERY DAMN AI turn with no global setting and it even isn't that much faster. The animations and the overall look is super boring as if it was designed to look good on a iPad. I wasn't expecting much but it didn't even reach expectations. Buy and play the excellent Risk Factions by EA on PS3 instead.… Expand

    As a big fan of Risk Fractions and having a family that enjoy friendly competition, Risk on the PS4 is a good game to play. Unlike Monopoly on the PS4 (see my review, it's god awful), Risk manages to maintain the core fun elements from the original board game.
    The additional 2 game modes added from World Conquest, are Secret Missions and Capitals.     Pros:
    > Simple layout and easy to set up games.
    > Okay graphics
    > Stats are kept per player, always fun for a geek out.
    > Cards are limited to using 10 (stars in this case) meaning epic bonuses are ruled out.
    > Great family game

    Cons
    > No additional maps as featured in Fractions (PS3)
    > While the AI is usually pretty fair, if you select manual and claim say Europe within the picking stage - ALL the enemy AI will place ALL their start troop allocation in single armies on the boarders of Europe. Seems crazy to me that they don't block someone taking Europe when picking territories. This is easily avoided however by claiming all but one spot.
    > online mode, as with monopoly is poorly done without the use of Bots. Ubisoft should realise that 1 out of 5 people will 'board-flip' the game and quit when they start losing, meaning I gave up online and yet to finish a game thanks to quitters. (reading reviews this seems to be universal for this version)

    A fast paced stripped down version of Risk. They play it extremely safe with this version and have removed all of the wacky stuff from Risk Factions the last iteration of the board game on consoles. The only mode they put any thought into is a "Secret Mission" mode where everyone has a random objective to win the game from destroy all the red team to take over all of Asia Africa andA fast paced stripped down version of Risk. Warning if you are buying this game for online play with friends. My friends and I have played 5 games of this over the internet. In every game someone has has gotten disconnected there is no way to invite that person back into the game. The AI will take over that persons turn immediately and the game will be ruined. Not one of those 5 games ended well. At one point I was 2 turns away from victory only to have the 2 of the 3 people I was playing against be dropped and my victory to become meaningless. wait until they add the option to join a game in progress before buying this or you will end up frustrated games can take anywhere from 20 min to 2 hours and getting dropped at the hour mark as you were winning or making a comeback is unacceptable.… Expand

    Really love the fact you can start a multiplayer game get to the last persons turn they don't like not being out in front they quit game over.
    All these hasbro game channel garbage lack basic functions monopoly misses the local and online mixed play. Risk disconnects everyone when one person quits is slow annoying boring.     First off, I LOVE playing Risk. I absolutely love playing it. I love it. Now that I've got that out of my system, I can start my review by saying that Ubi has done a fine job of transferring it to digital form. The game feels like the board game and plays enough like it for hard core fans like myself to enjoy it.

    Hold on? Why am I then giving it an awful rating? I am giving it an awful rating because Risk is a multiplayer game and if the multiplayer system is hopelessly broken then, regardless of how well the game mechanics work, the game is utter trash.

    I tried this game with online friends again and again and EVERY SINGLE time someone got disconnected before the end of the game. Disconnected mind you ONLY in Risk. This has nothing to do with ports or firewalls as Ubi would like us to believe since we all, at one point put ourselves in the DMZ (as well as trying to open the required ports) which did not help. Also, all other games by all other publishers do not have this issue.

    Ubi used to be the go to publisher for top notch games. Now it's games are less reliable than indie games. Sad.    … Expand

    Fun game. League play does a pretty decent job of matching you against like-skilled opponents. It would be nice if there were some tracking of players quitting when they dont like their initial placement or start to lose.

    This game tries to bring the old school board game on consoles and tries to fit the game in to a new era of gaming, but the result is horrible. Of course it is your standard game and that is the reason it gets a 5. Everything they put in to the game is bad and with little content.     This game would be good if there was not a huge bug. I believe if you have the game sped up for the bots’ turn it could freeze the whole game. This is unfortunate as I had two occasions where the game froze 20 - 25 minutes into the matches because of it. This felt awful when it happened.

    With this virtual release of Risk the makers do not take a lot of risk. Thankfully the rules of the game have not been changed and the modern visuals in general are something to get excited about. Too bad the new style is a bit to serious and tough, without adding personality. The frame-drops are not really helping this game, either.

    Risk has a bittersweet taste. It is a reliable adaptation of the board game, but there are some issues with the AI that are just out of place. The idea is more enjoyable with friends in local multiplayer, and a must if you like board games and, specifically, Risk.

    Risk is a touch limited and is a digital version of a game that has aged badly, though this version of the' game is more comprehensive than the Ubisoft Monopoly game.
