Uncharted 4 vs. Rise of the Tomb Raider, who wins? Rise of the Tomb Raider without a doubt. Uncharted 4 is more story oriented where this game is focused on an open world. Here are my likes and dislikes about the game:

    -Throwing roosters is fun
    -A real sense of adventure

    Dislikes:
-When Lara would sense enemies nearby she automatically crouches, but i would like to crouch with a push of a button, but there is no option to do so. This kind of takes away from the stealth experience.
-When Lara's survival instincts are activated you are not able to move because if you do the instinct will be deactivated, so you are constantly pressing the instinct button.
-Reading the documents through out the game was very TIRING as there are SO MANY documents to be found and read.
-There were times where i would want to raid a tomb, but i couldn't do so because i didn't have the right equipment and that i would have to come back to that tomb when i did which was also annoying (I never went back).
-The puzzle solving got really annoying too.
-I wish that the coin caches were worth more when found.

Considering how annoying this game was at times I still really enjoyed it and i rather play this game any day over Uncharted 4. I am definitely looking forward to playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Great game with good story and gameplay. It does not reach Uncharted levels of excellence but its an amazing adventure-action game nonetheless. Well worth the retail price, specially since this edition comes with a nice special presentation.

I can't argue that ROTTR is a bad game. But plot and script are so disappointing, mainly for action part where soldiers appear from nowhere since they have always an easy way to reach location (google maps and rockets maybe) while you have struggled your guts out by climbing jumping solving puzzle and traps. Wait.. were those locations supposed to be kept secret for centuries?

Also developer seems to hate all scenery Art work so they make sure that everything should be blown-up right few minutes after you discover the location. The magic of the hidden temple is that they are supposed to stand the challenge of time and madness of people.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great game that met my expectations. I saw great potential in this franchise(I think with a few improvements that game could have been a 9/10 or 10/10). However, even though the platforming is great overall, it seems broken in some parts and will make you die a lot (it breaks the fluidity of the game IMO)

I completed the main story in around 22-23 hours and did a few side missions. The optional tombs and the puzzles they contain are really well done.

For some reasons, I didn't feel really engaged in the upgrading and leveling system. There are a lot of different abilities and weapons but they could have improved the way they introduced them.

This game seems somewhere between Uncharted (adventure-linear) and Far Cry (adventure-open world).

One last thing, I did my playthrough on the standard difficulty and I would recommend playing it on a harder difficulty for more engagement (Sometimes, I had then impression I played really bad but still progressed to the next checkpoint)

Just WOW! This game is absolutely beautiful. And I love how the developers enhanced the game for PS4 Pro console.

But I put a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 because of some technical issues in the game, and when you choose the "high frame-rate" mode on PS4 Pro, the frame-rate is very unstable and it goes from 40 to 50 fps. It should be fixed but I guess it's too late now. Anyway, I loved

Anyway, I loved this game. All of it. To not mention the new difficulty, "Extreme survivor", which is very difficult and makes you really anxious because the game only saves at base camps, and some of them are also unlit.

I also appreciated very much the new classic skins, especially the Angel of Darkness one. Unfortunately, the TR2 and TR5 skins have a braid that flies in the air also when there isn't wind, which is very strange. Must be some problem in the braid physics.

Talking about hair physics: I love the new technology that Crystal Dynamics put on Lara's hairs. The only issue I have with them is that Lara's hairs in the front are very puffy and, sometimes, there are some problems in the animation where Lara touches her hairs after being in the water. Sometimes che puts her hands in her head. I think that animation should be deleted in the next TR game because It's a bit useless and It's full of glitches.

Anyway, Crystal Dynamics did an awesome job with this game. Congratulations!

The story is so basic and full of cliches that it was physically painful at times. The dialogues are so bad that i think the writers have 12 years old each, and at no moment i even care about the characters. Even Lara is a shallow character. The bad guys are just so cartoony that the main villain even has a big scar on his face, a eastern european religious fanatic that only wants to kill to get an artifact that gives eternal life. Yea, thats new.
Then you have the gameplay. The gameplay is clumsy. At best. Its not terrible, but i would not play this game for fun. The IA and the combats arent really funny, especially because (at least on ps4) is actually painful to aim. The map is full of markers (like a Ubi game) but there is little reward to collect everything. Some of the documents contain stories and some artifacts you find can give you some information about the world you are in. That was the best part, but the other 500 chests containing paper, deer skins or other materials you could get by playing the game, are just there to make the game look longer.

The only good part is the artistic one. I like the map, its not great, but the ruins of the bizantine city are just great. The artifacts are also great, and you can notice they put a lot of work in the map design.

So, in conclusion: Terrible story, basic gameplay and great artistic direction. This is not Uncharted, even when it tries so hard. Play this only if you want to explore the ruins of bizantine cities, soviet camps and siberian forests. There is nothing more of value in this game. It can be fun at moments, and tedious in others. Overall an average game. Clearly overrated.

Graphically the game looks beautiful, however i did like the gritty art style of Tomb Raider 2013 better. Most notable, the writing for Lara's character has changed from an intelligent and caring for her friends character to a quite generic and almost psychotic character. Lara walks around as if she knows everything, while she puts her friends and herself unnecessary in harms way. Notable, the story itself hangs by a thread.

Gameplay hasn't changed a lot from part 1, gunplay is still fun and good. However, Crystal dynamics somehow thought deepening the crafting system was a good idea. Unfortunately, the result is that crafting now requires so specific items that it becomes a choir, and disrupts the momentum of playing the game. Last but not least, the game feels the need to go the road of open world when it works better as a lineair game.

And of course the game features dubious micro-transactions and a forced upon complete edition for PS4 to milk €60 out of consumers. I give this game a 6/10, an average game.

The snowy mountain atmosphere filled with blizzards and bears and all sorts of other chilly surroundings was definitely my aesthetic and made me want to look over every piece of the map (in fact, I'm now going for a 100% file). The combat and equipment systems also had great natural evolution and mixed with the fun exploration mechanics of the game, I felt a great deal of improvement over the predecessor while still feeling like I was going back to something familiar. Also the story in this game was drastically more interesting than the first one and had some really lovable characters. Overall this was a much better product. Expand

I started playing the game and it was so boring for me I stopped playing and came back a few years later only because I had no other game to play. I can't say the game is bad but it was it got very boring after a while.
The character of Lara isn't a very well-written character and you can't help but think that she is arrogant, stubborn and spoiled. I couldn't sympathize with her.
The graphics are nice I guess
Also, the version I got had the word Prophet censored and it was extremely annoying.
To summarize, Rise of the Tomb Raider is very similar to Uncharted but has some new elements such as item gathering, stealth, upgrade mechanics and an open- world. So if you enjoyed Uncharted, you might like this game too

Once combat engages though it is less polished. The gadgets for exploring are fun but maybe too many, we didn't need the arrows that you unrealistically climb on and jump from one to another. Collectibles that are interesting that include diary messages of the antagonists are overshadowed by tons of not interesting collectibles like a random villager's writing from 100 years ago. Most of the abilities don't matter. And the story has holes in it towards the end, such as never really explaining what the divine power is or how it works besides Jacob saying " it is not divine."
