A fiendishly compelling re-imagining of the gun-toting cop shows of yore, RICO is an effortlessly playable, highly enjoyable and deceptively clever roguelike FPS that is at it's very best when enjoyed with friends.

RICO is meant meant to be played in quick bursts of ridiculous action. Spend too long with the game and infinite loop of smashing doors and clearing rooms becomes rather tiresome, but that's fine, not every game has to be an epic that requires you to bring a packed lunch. It may not be the best looking title, and it does have a few technical hiccups, but for a quick hit of over the top action it works really well, even more so if you have a friend to join in.

If you'd like to have some co-op first-person shooting fun with a friend either locally or online then you can have a few hours of fun with RICO. After that, it'll likely overstay its welcome with its simple gameplay and tiresome structure.

RICO fancies itself as the sterotypical hard-bitten police officer who gets results but refuses to play by the rules. In reality, it’s more like Paul Blart: Mall Cop. [Issue#161, p.96]

RICO has a cracking central idea, but it's strained by awkward mission design, shaky performance, and a whippy aim that often misses the mark.

It’s not going to win any Game of the Year awards, but if you’re looking for a fun co-op game that scratches a similar itch to something like PayDay, Rico is well worth picking up.

Love the gameplay. Hate the performance. Framerate runs from 25-30 FPS. I emailed the developer to see why the game doesn't run at 60 FPSLove the gameplay. Hate the performance. Framerate runs from 25-30 FPS. I emailed the developer to see why the game doesn't run at 60 FPS (the graphics are very simple). Did not get a response. It is the same gameplay loop over and over, but it is framed like a rogue-like. A decent game for the short term, but doesn't run as well as it should (I think the PC version runs at 60). TheThis is one of the few games I totally regret I paid money for and due to playing on PS4 dont have any possibility to refund this crap. The game itself seems fun and it might be very fun in coop. Sadly on my PS4 Pro with SSD not only the loading times are crappy as hell it is not possible to smoothly aim because the framerate is so bad that it is just not possible. I played several shooters including Doom, Far Cry and whatever but this game makes it impossible to aim. I tried to make it through my first case by using melee and some door cheesing strats but ultimately this is not possible because there are too many enemies that will wear you down.

On console I do not recommend anybody to buy this game. I even tried to set my PS4 to 1080p mode which made it slightly better but the aiming is still so sluggy and the only game setting is "camera shake"... well ... thanks DEVs. So after a while I finally gave up and deinstalled the game.
