    Reus is a great game that is trying to make a transition to the console. Though it has amazingly addictive gameplay and visuals, the game can be too complex for beginners and lacks decent controls.

    A game with a lot of depth and challenge, presented in a fun and unique way. Newcomers beware; the learning curve is quite steep!

    Despite this reining in on being a tyrannical god, Reus is phenomenal. It has that right balance of allowing players to move as quickly or as slow as they want for newcomers to the genre or seasoned god veterans.

    Reus is a good addition to the home console catalogue thanks to his deep gameplay mechanics and nice art direction, but if you don’t like god games there is nothing else for you here.

    tl;dr - If you really want it, buy it on Steam.

    The game has never exceeded £6.99 ($9.99) on the PC but is listed with a starting price of £19.99 (~$24.99) on the Playstation Store - we've all accepted that PSN games are a bit more expensive but a 250% markup is a complete joke! To then add a 20% "sale" (still more than double the PC price) immediately after launch is just blatantly dishonest - and arguably fraudulent...

    Several years ago this was the kind of game people were developing in Adobe Flash and uploading to sites like Miniclip and Newgrounds for free - now there's a spate of these browser-esque games flooding the marketplace, attempting to rip-off console gamers. You don't need specialised gaming hardware to run this, there's no reason to pay this kind of price for what I'd consider to be a mobile / casual game.    … Full Review »

Design is amateurish, controls are complicated and the tutorials are unbearably boring. The rush to the marketplace just makes me think they got greedy and tried to push this product through without refining it more than the minimum amount.     I played the game for a couple of days and still don't quite get the point. Or maybe my expectations are way off and I'm expecting some sort of meaningful advancement, like in the old-style god games.

    Either way, you play on a circle (globe) and make the land habitable for people, who you can't control. Use your various gods to make improvements to the annoyingly-limited amount of land around your peoples' settlements and just watch them use more and more resources without nothing else much happening.

    That's the gist of it. And because the gameplay is so shallow, they throw in these time limits. For example, have your people use as many resources as you can within 30 minutes to get an achievement, and then start all over again. That's just no fun.

    I should point out the land advancement annoyances, since that's the main thing you'll be doing in the game. For example, one god makes plants, so you make a plant. But making a bunch of plants or other resources isn't enough to advance your people. You must chain bonuses off of that plant. Some other god can make a mine that gets certain bonuses if next to a plant, so you make the mine. But then you need to upgrade the plant because it's not powerful enough, so you do so, but then the bonuses for the mine go away and you have to redo that whole section of land.

    And then you find out that this new plant needs some sort of advanced mine to get a bonus that you can't make right now. You'll need to advance a particular type of people so much that they give you a particular type of representative that you'll need a particular type of god to pick up so that you can upgrade that mine so it gets a bonus from the upgraded plant.

    And then you upgrade the plant again and the annoyance cycle starts all over again. Good luck trying to do all of that before the 30 minute time limit is up.

    I quickly realized that the game is best played with a spreadsheet, so you know exactly what upgrades to do at what time and what type of people to advance. There's just too many options that don't make common sense. The game doesn't require strategy - it requires memorization (or a spreadsheet).
