Great fun - nod to GTA at birth. Lovely nods to cult classic from yesteryear, crazy combo system and trophies to boot. Simple graphics, of course, it's what it's suppose to be (clue is in the title!) it's a retro feel brought into the current generation of console. Where it could have been a touch better? Variance, in vehicle mostly, rather than things feeling like sped-up or slowed-down versions of the same vehicle perhaps a more intuitive set of variables between vehicles? It's a small gripe but considering driving is such a big part of the game, does lose a few points there.

Either way - 100% should be in your collection (be it physical or digital) and 100% worth playing through.

Overall I really enjoyed my time with Retro City Rampage DX is this is the best way to play the game, with slight improvements to the controls and game difficulty.

It’s a nostalgic trip, one that’s backed by some genuinely solid design.

Yes, RCR is back, as big and gloriously cheesy-bad as ever. Everything’s been tweaked, honed and maximised. There’s more chiptunes, better this, better that, all available via PSN for under 20 bucks. Look, it’s just better, right? [January 2015, p69]
