    I’ll remember Resident Evil Village as a polished, terrifying horror game that kept tension levels high while also giving me the necessary room I needed to breathe.

    In the end, Resident Evil Village is not a perfect experience but it is still an awesome one and easily the best of the recent games in the series. It's scary, suspenseful, grounded in relatable human drama, and an overall blast to play; I highly recommend giving it a shot.

    Resident Evil: Village is equal parts terrifying and empowering. It’s haunting, tense, and filled with all kinds of gruesome action you’ll only ever see in a franchise that revels in its campy nature. Fans of the franchise will no doubt pick up on its familiar beats, but that’s for the best as it strikes a happy balance between fresh and familiar.

    Resident Evil Village is a far cry from its more grounded and horror-focused predecessor, but in the end, it’s perhaps just as lovable. At times it feels like a greatest hits collection of some of the best elements of previous Resident Evil games, and while that leads to it not being wholly coherent, it’s not to its detriment. It may not be perfect in terms of combat mechanics and storytelling, but Resident Evil Village keeps you on your toes, with you never truly knowing what’s waiting for you around the next corner. And that’s why when playing it, the hours simply fly by. Will the series ever become stale? Not while it’s being as inventive as this, that’s for sure.

    Those going in not caring that it might not feel exactly like Resident Evil or who understand that sometimes the cracks will show are going to have the most enjoyment from the game. Finish it, enjoy the Mercenaries mode, unlock bonuses, and play it again. That’s exactly what I’ll be doing.

    Walking away from Resident Evil Village leaves me with mixed feelings. It wasn’t a game that I immediately disliked, and I can’t say that I didn’t have a lot of fun playing it. But a second playthrough made me more aware of pacing issues, and on harder difficulties the general spike that otherwise feels somewhat artificial.

    On PS4 Pro with framerate prioritized you’ll get an almost identical experience like on current consoles or PC – an impressive port from Capcom.

    Still, for all it owes to Leon Kennedy’s misadventures through parasite-plagued Spain, Village is its own game with its own offbeat personality. If it can be believed, it may well be the kookiest Resident Evil yet.

    Good mix of genres throughout the game.

    Weak history;

    This game is thrilling from the start, although not as scary as it’s predecessor the atmosphere, environment and enemies make the game creepyThis game is thrilling from the start, although not as scary as it’s predecessor the atmosphere, environment and enemies make the game creepy and interesting. The standard enemies are a huge improvement from 7’s molded as you actually gain from killing them as they drop loot necessary to make ammo, healing products and explosives. The villains are each interesting in their own right although I found moreau to be the comical intellectual stupid character who the group make fun of which is rather repetitive and who we literally got in 7 as Lucas. The negatives for me would be that the first area you go to other than the village it’s self is the gorgeous Castle that Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters inhabit I felt that the 3 other areas after this weren’t as good, 2 of them weren’t necessarily bad but no where near as interesting or creative as the first. I wasn’t a fan of Heisenbergs factory at all I found it very repetitive and mostly boring and more reminiscent of the boat section in 7 which I didn’t like either mostly for the same reasons. The boss battles where all intriguing but far too easy regardless of difficulty their patterns were very repetitive so therefore easy to figure out quickly. Overall I really enjoyed RE: Village enough to say it’s a good game but once again it has more than enough flaws to hurts its overall score.… Full Review »

    This is the best part in the series, over the past 10-15 years, very atmospheric and with a more or less sane plot.

    The gameplay - is standard as in other parts of the series.
    The plot - is strong and interesting.
    The atmosphere - is very coolly balanced, there is both horror and action (there is more horror).
    Difficulty - playing hardcore, you will get EVERYTHING that is required from a resident evile (at lower difficulties you will lose the whole essence of the game).
    Puzzles - there are a LOT of them and very diverse and very interesting.
    Back tracking - is probably the biggest of all the previous parts.
    Enemies - there are many of them, each with its own characteristics (both externally and gameplay).
