    Absolutely dreadful. The gameplay, the "stealth" system, the repetitive music ( there are NO soundtracks ), clunky movements, old graphics, bad animations, generic glitches, brief like a fart....and the plot is mediocre at most.

    I really liked the vibe and visual presentation of this game, tho some of the cutscenes, particularly the death sequences, look pretty goofy.

    The gameplay is pretty good, tho the whole 'combat' aspect is a mess. Once I got spotted I usually just found it easiest to stand there n let the horribly awkward attack take place until I got grabbed and could counter attack and run. Although often at that point I'd be completely disoriented due to the stupid camera angle shifting that takes place when you counter attack.

    I liked the slow pace and tension. My enormous criticism of this game is that it was way too hard for my liking. I repeatedly got extremely, unpleasantly frustrated and angry at this game. The final 15 minutes or so of the game took me something like 4 hours to get through. 4 enormously unpleasant, infuriating hours of pain.

    I think this is the hardest game I've ever not abandoned. Usually I can't be arsed if I find myself having to try something over and over and wasting too much time.

    I don't know why I stuck with it, but eventually I prevailed.

    All in all I did enjoy and appreciate this game, but I'd never go near it again and would warn away anybody who doesn't enjoy challenging games.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Huh? That was my first take for the first 3-4 hours, before i gave up and looked at a walkthrough to find the first object. Plus, it seemed like a D-rated movie at first, with Felton saying the same 3 sentences over and over for the whole game. And you, whenever you hide in a closet, saying the same 2 sentences over and over - "I can't take it anymore. I need to get out of here." Plus in a women's voice that sounds like a man's. Whoever hired that voice artist has strange tastes. All of this was driving me nuts. But just as I was about to throw away the game and give it a "D", the special effects and the story line actually started to improve and continued to, up until the ending, which made no sense whatsoever, even after I read a translation of the author's interview about the game. That said, it improved enough to get a B-- in the end. But whatever program they used to build it was annoying, because it put white dots where every frickin' drawer was to open, most of which were empty, and the others had readily available "distraction objects" that were already on top of most furniture. So it was a waste of time checking the drawers and most cabinets. It would have been nice to have some of the objects you need to find hidden in some of the drawers. Instead of like the handle in the kitchen being essentially non-visible on a shelf. Not being Italian, i hate to rag on the English translations, but they really had major spelling and grammar errors to the point that at least 10% didn't make sense. I noticed that for the other languages (Korean, etc.) they had multiple native speakers that reviewed it for corrections. Obviously not so for English (2 italians that had the same last name). Not that it's a huge deal, but for a big project like this you would think they would do at least a little due diligence to get a native English speaker's opinion. Like "his notarial career". What? A notary is not a "career". It's a person's side-job who witnesses signatures in his spare time for a fee. Just a lot of things like that which were a big disconnect/turn-off. In any case, it was a nice effort, but i was expecting a little bit smoother operation in looking/finding objects and a few straightforward clues (for the first ones, in any case) - I hate to compare it to Resident Evil 2, but i guess that's what i was expecting - and got....well, not so much. I will say the Red Nun was terrifying, but i was pissed that my upgraded weapons did nothing to her, lol. Overall, I guess what i'm saying is that i wish a well-known screenwriter or other professional helped proof and smooth out the final product, so it didn't seem so "weird" and awkward. Again, maybe just a cultural thing. But i do speak multiple languages (French, some Taiwanese), so it's not just like I'm being an (American) English snob. In any case, there were some other great features besides the Red Nun, like how you save with the mirrors, the maze in the basement, the surprise Jennifer in the attic. Like I said earlier, the game starts out as a dud, but 1/4 of the way actually starts getting fun and interesting and it gets better and better, until the ending explanation which just confused me more. In any case, probably a good buy if you're into Silent Hill-esque or Japanese manga products, or just like off-the-wall nerdy non-mainstream stuff. If you're expecting something that is intuitive from the get-go and makes a lot of sense, and is a good story that makes some sense...not so much. But good for some frights and a scary atmosphere starting 1/4 of the way through, if you're patient. My wife asked if she should play it - i said "probably not. You won't understand it and the first part makes no sense and you can't figure out what you're supposed to do or where to go to find objects initially." Sorry guys - but it was still a good effort, nonetheless. 6.5/10… Expand

    I played this game twice because I loved the story and the main character Rosemary. Red Nun is a really cool character too, maybe my favorite villain in a game. The gameplay is like the games I played when I was young and it is fantastic for me because it makes me feel nostalgic. For this reason I played the second game too.     I had to come back to this game after the disasterous sequel that was Broken Porcelain and its just baffling how superior this game is in every single way to the point where if you told me that Tormented Fathers was the sequel I would have believed you .

    Better pacing , actual puzzles , fantastic setting , really creepy/tense moments what with it's Clock Tower inspired Slashers and a    I had to come back to this game after the disasterous sequel that was Broken Porcelain and its just baffling how superior this game is in every single way to the point where if you told me that Tormented Fathers was the sequel I would have believed you .

    Better pacing , actual puzzles , fantastic setting , really creepy/tense moments what with it's Clock Tower inspired Slashers and a story that while flawed is pretty enjoyable and has a pretty emotional ending . For an indie game priced at 20$ in my country this was and still is a fantastic experience    … Expand

    The story is interesting and rich, leaving a lot of room for development in future sequels. There are some very obvious influences and similarities from certain horror movies. But I think this saga can stand on its own. Rosemary is a good character although we don't really get to learn much from her. But what really sells the game are the enemies. The Red Nun has an awesome design, and Jennifer is absolutely terrifying. Especially with the way she shrieks and chases you.

    A big issue that this game has, is the gameplay. At least on the nintendo switch, the controls are clunky and awkward. The enemies' movement patterns make zero sense at times. It feels like they always know where you are hiding. If you enjoy stealth in videogames you won't mind that most of the game is like that. I'm personally more inclined towards combat-based horror games, but I enjoyed Tormented Fathers for its aesthetic and story.

    Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch version has a lot of bugs and issues that became annoying at several points. Some of these bugs caused me to restart the game, having to repeat entire sections. Also making it unable to progress and continue towards the end. I think these issues should be fixed because I think it can really break the game. Other than that, Tormented Fathers was an enjoyable experience and I can't wait for the sequel to come out in a few months.    … Expand

    Even at discount it's not worth your money. The story is cringefest, gameplay is terrible mess from like 2 generations before. And the graphics and technical quality is laughable ( but it will make you want to tear your eyes out). price in my country is 35 $ , it was on sale for 12 $. I would even go as far as calling it a scam LUL...Yeah, It's that bad.

But the characters are intriguing and gameplay is reminiscent of the Clock Tower series or underrated classics like Rule of Rose and Haunting Grounds. Let's face it folks; not every horror/suspense/thriller video game has to be based on Resident Evil, Silent Hill, or Parasite Eve.     Me recordó mucho a juegos de la clasica PS2 (Clock Tower 3, Demento y Rule of Rose) No es lo mejor graficamente, pero de verdad me parece muy bueno.

    I am not sure why this is being hailed as a true OG Survival Horror. It's nothing like RE or SH. It's more of a walking simulator/Adventure game. And a buggy , janky one at that.
    There is no option to resist or attach, leaving you with 2 option sneak away or hide. I don't find that scary.     Game like this a the Death of the traditional Survival horror,. There is some great atmosphere here and an interesting story, but when your only mechanics is sneaking , picking stuff up and hiding, its a recipe for boredom. If you have a IQ higher than 75 there's just no stimulation, unless bumps in the night and dark areas is all it takes to interest you.    … Expand

Eventually I had to stop because I just had a filling replaced and I was worried it would pop out from all the TEETH-GRINDING I was doing.     The reason why this was so difficult is because the sound-effects were not what they should have been. I KNEW going into this game that it was a "avoid the stalker" game. I assumed that, like many stalker/evasion based games, that I would be avoiding the stalker based on audio cues. And it is NIGH IMPOSSIBLE to tell when the stalker is near you or not. Oh, you get a creepy tone, and he talks- but he COULD be right below you on the next floor, OR he could be right around the corner. You have no way of knowing until the fricker is right on top of you.

    I'm not a stickler about sound-effects, or graphics, or whatever in a game as a general rule; but if you are making a game where your primary weapon is your ability to hear where your enemy is, it's not forgivable to me when you've done the sound-effects so poorly that I CAN'T DO THAT.

    Beyond that, I can't critique the rest of the game. Y'know, because I can't GET to it.    … Expand

    Great survival horror with a lot of suspense, plot twists and puzzles. The problem in this game is that it's short, very dark (environments) and sometimes clumsy gameplay (like in ADEGA getting stucked while u try to run). Worth playing!

    remothored is a survival horror as we like it, very close to the first resident evil, survival and discretion is important, the game is difficult and we like it. the story is beautiful music too. a sublime work.

    When everything works the atmosphere is strong. It evokes tension, stress, and fear as you sneak around the mansion. The main antagonist is well thought out - solid back story, strong voice acting. The mansion itself is well designed and feels mostly realistic. The environment graphics and lighting look great and and set the atmosphere. Superb music and SFX. The bad:    The good:

    The bad:

    Poor character animation that ruins the immersion. A bad sound engine that does not differentiate between vertical spaces, meaning enemy walking a floor above or below sounds the same as if he was on your floor. This is a major issue for a game that relies so heavily on sounds to avoid enemies.
    Protagonists footsteps are barely hearable (high-heals on parquet), to the player. The story lacks focus. While the backstory of the main antagonist is brilliant and realistic, the shoehorned cliches are unnecessary. It feels like the writer decided to use EVER idea he had in one game.

    A great concept that could definitely benefit from a few more months in development.    … Expand

    From the moment it begins, you can't help but be sucked into this dreary and deadly world. I honestly found it hard to put my controller down once the horror of being stalked by these vicious psychos truly begins.

    In terms of story, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything better than Remothered. It's truly one of a kind and something so good, I don't even want to say anything more because I may actually spoil some of the amazing twists and turns. The less you know about the story, the better. I've played many triple-A games and never encountered a story this sadistic and original.

    Gameplay is tense and heart-pounding. You will spend a lot of time sneaking around the mansion and avoiding these crazy characters. Most old-school games that Remothered takes many of its inspirations from can't even compare to the types of chases that you will experience here. I really loved being chased because the soundtrack is just incredible.

    Remothered: Tormented Fathers may be a bit shorter then horror games in the past but this one is worth every penny of its price tag. By far one of the most original and engaging horror titles I have played in years. I can't wait to play it again and find every collectible!    … Expand

    What to say? I'm really surprised about this ps4 version, maybe its ideal and native game platform. Playing it with a ps4 pad is a new enjoyment. Silent Hill creator's love for this game is completely understandable. Great job Darrel and Stormnid games! An indie masterpiece.

    Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a short yet sweet horror game that mixes stealthy gameplay with an incredibly creepy story. There are plenty of twists and turns that won't leave you disappointed. You can happen upon some terrifying moments depending on how you play, which makes you want to see more. This is meant to be the first game in a trilogy, and with what I've seen here, I'm excited to learn more about this world.
