Jul 2, 2018Overall, it’s a fun jaunt through the past, and although I’m sure I’ll get tired by the eventual repetitiveness, just like all open-world games, it’s a great experience for what the gameplay provides.
-
Jul 30, 2018After nine years, destroying lots of buildings with a hammer and explosives is still a lot of fun.
-
Jul 13, 2018A dusty relic from a bygone era of open-world game design, Red Faction Guerrilla still manages to impress. Or, to be more precise, GeoMod 2.0 still manages to impress. Nearly 10 years later, nothing has even tried to come close to this revolutionary physics engine, and the chaotic destruction on offer will truly satisfy anyone who enjoys blowing things up.
-
Jul 9, 2018Guerrilla survives its remaster in a photo finish. The monotonous mission structure, expressionless story (where everyone looks exactly the same), and conventional shooting are nails in a coffin. Fortunately the coffin’s lid is obliterated by Guerrilla’s screaming half corpse and its giddying commitment to destruction. There’s still nothing quite like it, no matter how many “what about” claims are lobbed in its direction.
-
Jul 8, 2018Although Red Faction Guerrilla did almost nothing to polish the last gen version issues, the 30-dollar price and upgraded visuals may very well be worth it to once again take on the red planet and discover its secrets.
-
Jul 6, 2018Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered comes back to console offering a fun adventure based on explosions, but he has aged badly.
-
Jul 6, 2018Red Faction Guerilla Re-Mars-Tered is a steady remastered version, which never really shines. Any player who had never given it a try should consider it now, keeping in mind that it’s a 9-year-old game.
-
Jul 5, 2018It's a shame that for the second time Red Faction: Guerrilla will not have the attention that deserves, but the truth is that the game, despite the fact that it's still fun to play, is simply outdated.
-
Jul 4, 2018Red Faction: Guerrilla is a good game, but it hasn't aged very well. Its open-world structure is only a glimpse of what the genre would become in later years. Its saving grave is to be found in the destruction mechanic, that it's still very up to date and enjoyable.
-
Jul 3, 2018Red Faction Guerrilla was the best of the Red Faction franchise and its Geomod technology proves it's capable of withstanding the test of time. It may feel a bit dated in its driving mechanics and shooting controls but it makes up for that in phenomenal destruction that never gets old.
-
Jul 2, 2018In an era where players still get amazed by the superficial damages of covers, Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered remains an exceptional escape from the ordinary, having the power to stimulate the demolishing fantasy of whoever wants to give it a chance. On the other hand, for those who have already razed all the buildings on Mars in 2009, it would be better to focus on something else.
-
Jul 2, 2018It was a cool enough game in 2009 but a lot of time has passed and other games managed to do more with the open world genre. It serves as a nice nostalgia piece but even in its remastered state, the game feels like a relic.
-
Jul 4, 2018Despite the numerous visual corrections, the years do not pass in vain for an original game of 2009.
-
Jul 3, 2018The third chapter of the THQ Nordic series feels the weight of a decade spent away from the latest hardware, victims of a decidedly aged technical department.
-
Jul 16, 2018Red Faction Guerilla ReMARStered is far from perfect, but it’s fun, and it’s proof that not every game needs to have a serious, super in-depth narrative to please.
-
Jul 11, 2018Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered offers players a second chance to experience its open world. Some technical issues aside, it's the lack of variety in the world and mission design that stops the fun and still impressive destruction from making this a must play for those who missed it the first time.
-
Jul 8, 2018Red Faction Guerrilla is back with a remastered version that is not enough to make up for the 10-year-old flaws of the game. In spite of the fact that destroying everything is still quite fun, there are better options nowadays for the fans of these crazy action games.
-
Jul 2, 2018The awesome environmental destruction returns alongside the hammer, one of the best gaming weapons ever. And the game has been redone in 4K resolution with improved lighting and textures. Unfortunately, the bad stuff still remains: shooting and driving feel floaty, enemy response is tuned too high, and there are a number of glitches present. As such, the remaster merely brings a great game into the modern age, without the improvements that would mark a better re-release.
-
Jul 2, 2018It’s a painful reminder that we have it and had it so much better, even if the remaster seems to be far more prone to crashing than the original. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Mad Max, and even Bad Company 2 do almost everything better than Red Faction ever could.
-
Jul 2, 2018Hopefully, some patches bring this remaster up to par, because it would be unforgivable to have Guerrilla fail a second time due to a rushed port.

Jul 2, 2018The game fully understands what makes it fun, and it does everything it can to empower the player to see that with as few restrictions as possible. This is what helps Red Faction: Guerrilla justify its remastering. It might not look as pretty as even its contemporaries, let alone games coming out today, but the sheer fun that comes with obliterating a building or tearing it apart piece by piece has not waned a bit.
