    A pretty game with similar missions and points storytelling. Its the story that truly lets it down. Not to mention a player invests so much time into Arthur to have him wiped out in such a pathetic way. Rockstar literally pissing on players, I mean what is the point in putting a game out where the lead character DIES and there is nothing you can do about it.     Looks great, some of the systems in it are brilliant and there are animations for things that every other developer would ignore. I can't praise the visual presentation enough. However the controls are poor, unintuitive and as a result of animations for everything, cumbersome.     I don't have the time to spend 5 minutes travelling to do a 3 minute quest then 5 minutes to travel back. That's not my idea of a fun gameplay loop. Especially when the combat sucks, heck, simple movement sucks, it's so slow. Getting stuck behind a NPC ambling along a narrow path not wide enough for 2 carts is an infuriating way to lose a timed mission. Even when there's no time limit, it's frustrating as if you run into people you get grief from the rep and justice system which is a massive fun barrier.

    You're encouraged to be a good guy because otherwise you get a bounty, but then the story has you committing crimes FFS. Not that it matters, the story isn't that interesting.

    The character builder for online is limited (perhaps they're going to sell more customization options later on) and the quests in that, thus far, aren't any more fun other than single player as the combat still sucks. I suppose there is the added bonus of laughing as now everyone in a group whistles for their horse and none arrive and we all sheepishly go running after the missing mounts...

    More patient players and people that don't mind the clunky menus, woeful hand-to-hand, lame auto aim shooting and riding around for hours on end will no doubt have a blast, for me, I doubt I'll ever finish it. Not with so many other games that are actually fun and not chores to play. I play games to escape life, not be trapped by the same limitations. Honestly I haven't been so frustrated and disappointed by a game in a long time.    … Expand

    Great sound, graphics, story and open world but the gameplay is just average. It's just such a chore to play & all the missions end up being the same. Not real reason to keep playing. Average at best.

You can wander for hours and hours just to see where a river leads, looking for a new bird, or trying to hunt some rare animals in the mountains. It was kinda too standard or predictable at many points, and did not really grab or surprised me too often. Some characters are interesting, mainly Dutch, but it was not enough for me to consider this story line one to remember. The other element that I found boring was the GTA-like frequent shootouts, with the usual shoot and cover mechanic, taking down hundreds of enemies with ease. I understand they needed to maintain the action fueled by these moments, but I would have preferred some shorter, less crowded gunfights more based on pure skill or smarts rather than just abusing the shooting/cover mechanics that we used so much in previous GTAs.
    Still, the rest of the game more than makes up for it. It is a master piece for the most part.    … Expand

    Grandiosa obra maestra cinematográfica. Si compitiese para los oscars se podría llevar alguno. Pero a Rockstar se le ha olvidado que esto son videojuegos y que lo priomordial es que sean divertidos. RDR2 no lo es. Ni de puta coña.

    I slept on Red Dead Redemption 2 when it first came out.
    I didn't like the first. It was alrighttt. The shooting was a bit meh, the narrative was alright. I also wasn't fascinated by the western setting.
    I also didn' like GTA 5 that much. It's the main narrative just isn't compelling for me. Also, the open world is kinda boring. It's very open but feels incredibly hollow due to how    I slept on Red Dead Redemption 2 when it first came out.

    So i was impressed at how much I love Red Dead Redemption 2. THis is by far one of the most detailed, complex and intriguing games ROCKSTAR has made. The narrative of Brotherhood and Family hits so hard, and seeing the dynamic relationships and seeing how these bandits fall apart and loose friends/family on the way is amazing. Arthur Morgan is gamings most compelling of characters. I think he might be one of my new favorites.

    I loved this game. So much detail. So much variety. It's very much a slow burn narrative, also the objectives are a bit flat at times. But, by making the game slow it adds more impact to how things play out in the end.

    Where do I even start with this game. From the opening chapter, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a breath of fresh air. You can see the effort and care that Rockstar games puts into their games. The detail in this game is something unseen in any other game and probably won't be seen often in the future. The amount of content is also something I haven't seen since The Witcher 3 and is greatly appreciated. The main story alone is around 60hrs plus the side content makes the $60 price a steal. Player freedom is at an all time high in Red Dead Redemption 2. The customization of your outfit, weapons, and even your horse is insane. Every piece of your outfit can be customized to your liking and nearly every piece of your weapon can be altered. The detail is what makes this game something special. The story and writing is excellent throughout the entire game and the voice acting make it even better. There is no bad voice actor with little to no repeated voices. Arthur Morgan is an excellent character and one that will be remembered like John Marston. The one area where this game falters a little is the combat. The controls are quite a free as I would like which leads to auto lock aiming between each shot. It doesn't ruin the game by any means but it is a criticism in a deeply detailed game. I'm sure this game won't be for everyone but this is truly game chaining for the gaming industry. When I'm not playing this game I want to play it which is probably the best compliment I can give a game.… Expand

    Unbelievably detailed world with surprisingly smart NPCs that bring the world to life. A slow burn of a game but once you get immersed in the world its quite captivating. The only other games i put in its class the past decade are BOTW and Witcher 3.

Since the game's controls are so imprecise, there will be hundreds of occasions where you'll click a button you didn't mean to click, or you won't be facing in the precise direction you need to be facing in order to do the action you wanted to do, so you'll be subjected to watching Arthur in an over-animated manner mount his horse, which lasts for literal seconds, before you can push the button that gets off his horse, an animation that also lasts for literal seconds, before you can do the thing you were trying to do before accidentally mounting your horse. Or, every single time you kill an animal, to collect its skin you have to sit through an unskippable animation of Arthur skinning whatever animal it is that also lasts for literal seconds, all of which are attention to detail in manners that actively make the game less fun to play. It would be all the more bearable if you were simply capable of pushing a button that would cancel whatever action you're doing in case you accidentally hit the wrong button or prompted Arthur to do something you didn't mean to do, but no, you are committed to sitting the gratuitously over-animated sequences through literally every mistake you ever make due to how finicky this game's controls are. Yes, the attention to detail in a lot of cases is incredible, but a lot of that detail just simply doesn't make the game fun.

    It's also annoying that you can't sprint through town areas without every NPC you pass acting like you're attempting to physically assault them, or if you accidentally forget to holster your weapon you'll have law enforcement raining bullets on you in a matter of seconds, so your stuck walking for an eternity through buildings and town areas for fear you'll be wanted for assault in case you accidentally nudge an NPC, which also makes the game significantly less fun to play.

    But the writing and characters and acting is all fantastic, as expected, so it's absolutely worth checking out, it's just a shame that it isn't as much fun to actually play.    … Expand

    Its a beautiful looking game and I've enjoyed parts of the story line (even though for me it feels pretty linear rather than you evolving your own adventures)
    Now at around 30 hours in on the story and I'm finding it a chore to even load the game up. This time it will be different I keep saying to myself. I    "Horse riding simulator 2018" rides into town and meets "do your chores 2018".

    I don't care about that I liked the story of Red Dead Redemption 2, the online part, the Showdown Mode in particular is not good at all which is why I'm giving it 1 of 10.

    There are a lot of good games. This is not one of them. Do you know why?! 'Cause I wouldn't say that this is just a game. Rockstar created something that is way more than that. They don't want you to PLAY, they want you to LIVE in this world, to see everything they have created.

If the world's environmental problems are solved at the same speed 600 or was it 1600? staff people and programmers at rock star develop and refine gameplay then we are all doomed. Don't get me wrong, it's a very very pretty game and if you are a dopehead then you probably get sucked into some days of cool, but forgettable gaming. Really, the game feel's likeVery disappointing release.     This game is beautiful. Mountains of detail were put into the world. This is where the entire effort of the studio went. The controls are clunky. Sometimes switching buttons to do the same action. Getting your character to move faster than a walk is a pain. The enemy AI is a joke. Accidentally bumping into somebody on the street starts a fist fight almost every time. The characters that you interact with are so close to cardboard cutouts I can't remember any of their names. The quests are so boring. Bounties sound like fun until you try some. You could almost spit on most of them from the sheriff's office. Chase this guy and stop him from getting away seems to be the majority of quest objectives. I doubt I will bother finishing the game.… Expand

While the Red Dead Redemption was ambitious due to the Red Dead Revolver not showing much promise as other rockstar IP. But this sequel of the original Red Dead Redemption is far more ambitious than GTA 5. I liked this game because this game shows how the world evolves and how Civilization changes. Difference on Honest and Non Honest Characters are very important and shows realism and Idealism which makes the character memorable for many years to come.… Expand

    For all it's glory in areas of graphics, NPC characters, music etc, it is a vastly overrated game. The controls are clunky and unresponsive, there are moments where you lose most controls almost entirely as you are forced to slowly wander through overly long winded and largely boring conversations and exchanges. It suffers from laggy controls too which gets very boring when your trying to shoot a mountain lion etc. The main character is slow (very) and seems to stroll through the game (including fire fights) like a man who has smoked WAY too much pot. Additionally, the story is not at all gripping. You're a bunch of bad guys who have good hearts (as opposed to the other two options in the game of good guys with bad hearts or bad guys with bad hearts). The conversations you can have with people are 'she'll be right' and 'blah blah, hungry and lost in the woods' boring fillers. There is zero character customisation at the start. Arthur is... Arthur. He looks the way he does and sounds the way he does which, I hasten to add, has absolutely zero charm. He is not in the slightest bit lovable and more importantly, the way he talks and ideas he has makes him a sturdy beta character with very little desire to do actual good i.e. 'well alright I'll go and rescue my friend and colleague but only because another man who is lower ranked than me but a stronger leader with much higher moral integrity than me has said so'. It's pathetic. He is the epitome of a nonchalant wanker whose moral code is based on self and obedience. He has no fire in him, his story is boring. he isn't clever and because the controls are rubbish, he isn't fast, or a very good shot. He should have been dead a LONG time ago. I have repeatedly tried to get into RDR2 and every time I have failed. It is frustratingly slow, clunky and boring. Because of these issues, it's simply impossible to get into it, to feel energised, to enjoy the views, to find fun characters. I may try again sometime but I simply can't see why I will ever understand how this game has done so well for itself. Give me bug ridden Fallout, Witcher or Mass Effect any day of the week.    … Expand

    Overall its what I expected. A huge cash cow of a world for there online services... with a medicore single player game thrown in it.

    Pros - great world, quirky characters.

    Cons - basic gameplay, sluggish movement, inventory system awful, rpg elements worthless, lack of weapons, ultimately I found it boring.

    If I had a separate life just to play this game, I would like it more. I feel like I need so many hours of time to dedicate to the gameplay, which some people obviously love.

    Its beautiful, the animations are crazy good too.

Arthur Morgan is amazing new character. Great story. The solo mo kills with closeups of faces is satisfying. I appreciate the slowness of a lot of the animation and how it adds to the atmosphere.

    Combat is somehow not that much better than 1. Guarma was unnecessary and was a huge part of the fatigue I felt at that time. The final Arthur Micah fight is meh except for Arthur's plea to Dutch. Honestly the second half of the Micah character isn't great. Everything around him is fine but just the character itself is a little weak. Reverend is annoying. I wish I could walk faster in camp.    … Expand

    In our times of lootboxes and game content being purposely cut short for DLC's, it is really refreshing to have a game that actually worth more money than what you paid for it and not the other way around. Hats off to Rockstar for delivering this gem.

    This is the first Rockstar game I've played. The focus on history and single player has caught my attention. The level of detail/graphics of the open world is amazing, outstanding even The Witcher 3. The beginning of the game is slow, so is the traveling by horse. I lacked patience a lot of times.     I love the game, its attention to details, realism, but as well ability to do anything you want. Arthur Morgan is in my opinion the best character of all Rockstar games. He is not some random generic character like you often see in games, but deep and complex human being with internal struggle with what he's done and been doing. Map is full of stuff to do. I couldn't wait for new events of the game to unravel and pushed some parts of the game forward just to get to know what happens to the gang.

    I'm so amazed by this stuff I almost forget about the downsides. For example looting bodies is pain in the ass after aprox. 50h, fast travel isn't really that fast and would be cool if I could just "teleport" to some places later on in the game instead of revisiting every place countless number of times. Those contextual controls were also annoying as hell (for example picking up different stuff on different button each time). Still, the best game, the most interesting (sidequest-wise) experience I've had in a loooong time. I thought about 9/10, but when I've completed the game I changed my mind and decided to give it a solid 10/10. I wish we had more games like it.    … Expand

    The best and most immersive game of this entire generation. I loved every minute of this immersive goodness. The world looks incredible and the animations are so lifelike, I absolutely love the way you can interact with npc's.

    One of the most well written games of all time. The story is engrossing, the world is huge and immersive, and the characters are memorable. The gameplay has some quirks like all rockstar games when played in 3rd person but it never takes you out of the game completely. You could spend 100 hours easy in this game and never have a boring moment.

This game however has completely blown me away and knocked all my other favorite games down a pin. The slow pace and the perfectly captured beautiful environment hooked me first. I don't care for the story nor them at all. Playing this game feels for the most time like a chore. I'm supposed to eat, drink and whatever, but there's no indication that I'm doing it too much or too few. A lot of stuff just isn't clear which is why I'm fed up with it and selling my copy. I really wish the story and characters were better and made me care because the rest of the game is wonderful when it comes to detail and I happen to love those.    … Expand

    This has to be one of the most beautiful open world game on the console, everything is a delight to look at and tells a story on the region you are currently traveling. There is a lots of side quests and encounters at every turns that can give you rewards if you want to take a break from the main quest. Other than that the story is average, the loot is average, there is no impact in the game if you decide to be good or bad even if you have a karma meter, the controls take time to master and if you make a mistake it could cost you, for example, you draw your gun at someone and then everyone in town wants to kill you, that also goes when you hit someone with your horse and finally when you go in your camp you can't run..     its beautiful, the campagne is totally fine and fun, but i fear the possibilities of microtransactions in this game which could negatively affect the multiplayer part of this game. I mean thats the reason why i bought this game. So:

    Online: 5/10

    i would rate it like this so far and will update this review when the multiplayer is fully released.

But it is also worse than the first because in their quest of making such a grand game and experience, they endend up making it less of a game and more a simulation, with some parts becoming quite annoying and boring (game physics, long ass riding moments, chores, and the like). So did I have a good time? Heck yes, I loved playing in this world again and inmersing myself in the experience. But it also included a lot of moments where I felt I was doing a chore just to get to the next good part, and trying to complete the game felt like such a monumental task that I just don't have the time for it, even if I would like to. So Rockstar did make a incredible achievement with RDR2 that feels more like a full experience than a game. Maybe not for everyone but a great acomplishment nevertheless, and Rockstar really deserves a shoutout for really making an effort for taking one of the best games ever in the first one, and really pushing that to the limit, even if not everything may be for the better or not, depending on who you're asking.… Expand

    Unfortunately, once again I fell for the hype and got this title quite a much at release.
    Didn't quite reach the expectations and several crashes made it unbearable experience since the save points wasn't either generated.
    Conclusion, boring roaming title, maybe works for some people with western in their heart.

    Amazing artwork, totally believable animal movement and behavior, but that's it. Dreadful combat, clunky PC controls, moronic writing, one dimensional missions designed by idiots. It's all summed up by the fact that acquiring and improving weapons is an important game mechanism, but the missions replace them with crap weapons because reasons. If they f***ed that up, imagine how bad the rest is.

Everything in this game wears out its welcome and the maddening thing is that simply cutting out 10% of the content would have given the player more breathing room. Rockstar's design philosophy often involves taking control away from the player, and it creates a problem where taking on a mission is a crapshoot as to what a player can expect.

    As for the story: the characters are rich and deep, the voice acting is just superb, and the presentation and direction are expert. But the material just isn't that great. They're thieves and the law is after them. That's all. It takes itself way too seriously despite a great deal of characters making some pretty dumb choices. And again, everything just moves at a glacial pace.

    This game is a roller coaster, and despite how thrilling some parts are be sure to stay strapped in for the duration and watch your hands.    … Expand

    Besides the awful controls, my main problem is that a lot of time in game is spent doing pretty much nothing. The world is absolutely massive yet barren. The points of interest on the map are separated by huge, empty expanses of nothingness. Going from point to point while exploring the world or during missions, it struck me how much of this “dead time” there was in the game. There is so much galloping around while listening to people talk, and not everything the NPCs say is interesting. There are even missions where you go far off to an area, then go back, then go back to that area again.

    A vadnyugatos téma nem igazán érint meg engem, de ettől függetlenül ez a játék beszippantott magával annak ellenére, hogy az előző rész annyira nem tetszett. Gun play szerintem nem rossz bár nem az igazi, valami hiányzik belőle Ezenfelül az animációk is kiválóak a játékban. Egy magyar feliratnak is örültem volna ha már a PS exkluzívok magyar felirattal jelennek meg.

    Even if you down like cowboys games I will insist you to buy this game. This is the best game of this generation without a doubt. This game definitely worth 60 dollars. The mechanics the different environment and things to do is mind blowing. Rockstar put a lot of effort in this game and it shows it. If you like quality video games. Pick this up. El tamaño del mapa es algo nunca visto, y la vida que despide la flora y fauna, las ciudades, todo es increíble. Pero toca hablar del apartado que para mi puede matar tu experiencia si no tenés paciencia y si no fuera porque todo lo demás está tan bien hecho: la jugabilidad. Es sin duda alguna uno de los juegos con los controles más toscos que he jugado este año (no jugué Fallout 76). Entiendo que se haya optado por un nivel de realismo altísimo, pero eso es justamente lo que se lleva por delante la jugabilidad. El input lag en los movimientos del personaje es atroz, provoca que el jugador sienta que no tiene control total sobre el personaje, un grave error. El gunplay no es malo, pero podría ser muchísimo mejor, es regular diría. Pero sin dudas lo peor del juego es su sistema de coberturas, que es automático y el personaje se cubre donde quiere y en el ángulo que quiere. El jugador solo puede decidir si cubrirse o quedar expuesto, y muchas veces la cobertura automática es tan mala que se "cubre" justo en el ángulo de tiro de los enemigos, por ende, te llenan de plomo. Otra negativa (pero menor que las anteriores) es que cada acción del personaje tiene una animación, entonces todo se hace muy denso pasadas unas horas, ejemplo: tener que agarrar item por item de un mueble, cada uno con una animación que dura lo suyo. Todos estos detalles al principio dejan boquiabierto a cualquiera, pero con el paso de las horas se vuelve tedioso.

    Finalmente quiero destacar sin mucho detalle, lo que más me gustó del juego por lejos: el sistema de caza. Es el primer juego en el que realmente me divierto cazando durante horas sin hacer otra cosa. Y eso tiene mucho mérito teniendo en cuenta que esa es una actividad opcional, y las animaciones de desollamiento de los animales son increíbles, las únicas que no se me volvieron tediosas con el tiempo.

    Thats a very good game. Amazing open world with so much interactives, interesting charactes with themselfs lores, gently animations and interesting story. But the game should be some faster

    This game is a work of art. The story, characters and open world are just so well done. It's very easy to get lost in because there is just so much to do and see. You will never run out of things to do. I've played a lot of Rockstar's games and I think that this is their best one to date.

It's a bit clunky, but the positives of this game heavily outweight the negatives (no game is perfect), which is why I think this game deserves a 10/10 because by the time I finished this game, I thought to myself that this was without a doubt the best game i've played.

    Such a great experience. So many little details that were great to witness, and after writing this, I'm going back to playing this game. I highly recommend it. Can't wait for online.    … Expand

    There so many different activities like robing, fishing, haunting, poker, dominoes and so on.... Danm poker in the game is even better than most poker specific games...

    This is unquestionably the best single-player game ever made, if only you have the patience and love to play it at the slow, contemplative pace it begs of you.

    This game not being unanimously declared as the winner of every game of the year award in 2018 will go down as one of the biggest snubs in entertainment history.

    The best game I have ever played. Graphics are amazing, story line is amazing and this is the only came were I feel a connection between me and the characters. I challenge any game producers to better this game. Game of the century!!!

If you're the person who wants to sit down for an hour or so, and enjoy every single second of an amazingly constructed game that takes it time with it's story and gameplay, then this is for you. I am the latter so I enjoyed this game to the extreme and it would be a 10 out of 10 as I said if it wasn't for the fact that it does feel a little slow at time even for someone like me who has time to waste and enjoys the minute tiny things this game does so well. The story is long and at the end it did kind of feel like it dragged for a bit but that was no where near enough to ruin it.     Controls are frustrating (i want to mount my horse but i tackle a nearby pedestrian instead and have the entire police force after me and now i have a 300 bounty to pay - probably about 150 rabbit skins LMFAO. The same button that says hi to somebody also pulls a gun and can shoot them.

    Fishing is a precursor to repetitive strain injury on your hands and wrists. I'm surprised there is not a warning on that event in game.
    Game is an 70-80- big pretty game with little substance unless you consider feeding horses and chopping wood substance. Want to see the great outdoors and wildlife - my advice is to actually do that in real life.    … Expand

    Finished the game a couple of days ago and wanted to let it sink in before writing this review. After watching the credits roll, I can see now why this is such a highly rated game. The characters, storytelling, and writing is phenomenal.     First off let me start by stating this game is a masterpiece.
    In short the game is gorgeous! The story is amazingly well written, and it's still repayable after you complete it.

Por lo regular a mi los videojuegos de mundo abierto me terminan aburriendo por que me siento demasiado abrumado con tantas cosas que hacer sin motivación alguna del propio juego ,su paisajes repetitivos y misiones de recadero, pero este rdr2 ha despertado en mi querer hacer todas las misiones : secundarias, aleatorias , desafíos etc. Andar por el mundo que han creado y ver losJuegazo! La narrativa es increíble, cada conversación con la gente de tu banda te sumerge en la historia. La sensación de estar dentro de un mundo real con situaciones imprevisibles es única en un mundo abierto. La gente se queja de control tosco. Esto se llamaEs el mejor juego de la generación. Nivel de detalle extremo tanto en posibilidades jugables como en interacción con el entorno y los NPCs. La narrativa es increíble, cada conversación con la gente de tu banda te sumerge en la historia. La sensación de estar dentro de un mundo real con situaciones imprevisibles es única en un mundo abierto. La gente se queja de control tosco. Esto se llama realismo. Hay una animación hecha para cada detalle ínfimo del juego. Pueden hacerlo más lento, pero es tan auténtico que es una lentitud muy disfrutable. Es para disfrutar sin prisas.     Best sound track in any video game, best visuals in any video game, best characters acting in any video game and not just voice they also did in real life everything that the characters do in the game. all of these added together with a really good story. easily best game i ever played.

    It’s an huge, outstanding piece of art – worth the hard-earned cash as well as countless hours that are needed to get to know at least some of the attractions of Rockstar’s rendition of Wild West. For those who put story first – the biggest virtue of Red Dead Redemption 2 is that it sets the stage for RDR 1 and does it wonderfully. [13/2018, p.40]

    Amazing not only for Western lovers. No other game has probably offered so many options to express yourself in the open world, and at the same time did not have such an interesting, rough and moving story. A magnificent experience, with a slightly slower start. [Issue#291]
