Mar 17, 20183D Realms might not want to remake one of its old Duke Nukem masterpieces, but that doesn’t seem to stop them from publishing Interceptor Entertainment’s Rad Rodgers, a humble homage to the long lost era of DOS arcade platformers.
-
Feb 27, 2018Rad Rodgers is a game with its ups and downs. It is entertaining, even though it does not take too much time to beat.

Mar 14, 2018The crucial factor to take into account here is the sense of humour. Do you like silly, immature humour that has no respect for the fourth wall? If you don’t, the gameplay probably isn’t strong enough to maintain your interest, particularly in a crowded genre. If you do however, the gameplay is strong enough to maintain your interest for the length of the game, slightly short though it may be.
-
Mar 6, 2018The game despite the obvious padding is a great length for both casual gameplay and for someone who wants to finish it in one sitting. The misfiring humour and weak standard of the environments however make for a poor narrative, and generally, an experience that isn’t particularly memorable.

Mar 6, 2018Despite a number of intensely frustrating elements, I enjoyed my time with Rad Rodgers. The challenging platforming sections coupled with the run-and-gun gameplay and exploration for hidden collectibles immediately reminded me of the dozens of hours that I put into Jazz Jackrabbit 1 and 2 on the PC, and I think this sense of nostalgia helped me push through the multiple frustrating sections that made me want to walk away from the game. If you also have a sense of nostalgia for the bygone era of 90’s run-and-gun platformers, or if you’re just a fan of tough, exploration-based platformers, Rad Rodgers is worth a look.
-
Mar 18, 2018Rad Rodgers is too self aware, and falls short on many levels.
-
Feb 27, 2018Rad Rodgers struggles to find its difficulty sweet spot. Spending far too much time being either too easy or frustratingly hard, the inconsistent pacing means that neither those looking for a fun romp nor a hard as nails platformer will leave satisfied. While the gameplay at its core is decent and the design of each stage provides an enjoyable variety of challenges, the crass outdated humour and the radically varying difficulty mean that Rad Rodgers falls way short of being an excellent adventure.
