So if you came from Dr Robotnik then you will be sorely disappointed by this masochistic game.

I think the game can be enjoyable if you are really minded to learn and dominate the game. The game has some techniques and tatics that you have to learn or develop by yourself, essentials if you want to have a chance against your opponents in multiplayer. If you like competitiveness and are the kind of guy that like simple good real time strategic games and are inclined to learn the game strengths, i personally recommend you to give this game a shot.
I can mention as positives: Good sound effects for both japanese (which is know by puyo puyo e-Sports) and north american versions, trophy progress tracking, and visually agreeable characters.

Simple, but fun - especially when joined by a couple of friends in party mode. Then you'll have a good time. When push comes to shove, however, the amount of content is disappointingly low and the learning curve perhaps a bit too steep to entice new players. Proceed at your own risk.

Champions is focused on multiplayer, and that’s where it shines. It would’ve been good to have a few more options for single player, but if you’re interested in the more competitive side of Puyo Puyo, don’t miss it.

Playing against the CPU is bound to lose its appeal eventually, which leaves Puyo Puyo Champion‘s local and online multiplayer modes being the main draw. But for not much more than the price of a couple of coffees, that shouldn’t be much of an issue.
