Jan 28, 2020A soaring achievement in the genre, very minor technical issues aren't enough to detract from the fact that Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire: Ultimate Edition is the first must-have game of 2020 and the finest RPG in an age. Adventures don't come much more essential than this.

Feb 4, 2020Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire brings a world full of challenges, dangers, and risks in which you are about to make your history. Thanks to its incredible quest design, your adventure in the world of Deadfire has nothing less than the main storyline of the game. It’s a huge, detailed, and living game that deserves to be played over and over.

Jan 28, 2020The branching storylines and miles-deep character and world customization are soul food for players yearning for experiences similar to 90’s cRPGs like Baldur’s Gate or Icewind Dale. Obsidian Entertainment is a master of this craft, knowing that the best way to draw in players are vivid worlds unlike any other and unforgettable stories. Console players shouldn’t be intimidated by a game with its roots in anything but a controller. Menus, combat, and controls are surprisingly easy to navigate and the game runs incredibly well. Having all the updated content only further adds to the value of an already valuable package. If you’re willing to wade in these salty waters, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Ultimate Edition is worth its weight in gold.

Jan 28, 2020This is a fantastic adaptation to consoles. The quality of this title is outstanding, and if you prefer to enjoy this epic adventure with a controller, it is a great choice.
-
Apr 8, 2020Pillars of Eternity II arrives on consoles in it’s the best edition with all additional content, completely bringing all of it’s best aspects to console gaming. With its rich non-linear narrative, astonishing world and lore and interesting characters and both real-time and turn-based gameplay, it still is a great game, even with its bad optimisation and confusing control scheme for controllers.
-
Feb 7, 2020Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is an exceptional RPG, which respects its classic origins, without being afraid to adapt modern mechanisms. With a fresh combat system and a story worthy of the most famous D&D games, it is highly addictive for the fans of the genre, while being a friendly companion to those who prepare to embark on their first quest. If the issue with the way too long and frequent loading times will be fixed, it will be a must-play game.
-
Feb 19, 2020Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a beast of a game. The amount of content is staggering, and one can definitely play for hours and hours. Obsidian has gone extra miles to create an immersive fantasy RPG adventure and truly delivered. You are in for a deep experience but, caveat emptor, you will have to dedicate yourself to learning not only the intricacies of Eora but of POE2’s gameplay mechanics.
-
Feb 18, 2020Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire – Ultimate Edition is one of the most compelling and lore-rich role-playing games I’ve had to pleasure of playing, but unfortunately, its greatness on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is let down by a very sub-par console port full of bugs and loading time issues. Still highly recommended for fans who prefer the big TV instead of the computer screen, but only if you have the patience necessary to await the necessary bug fixes and play through unavoidable load times.
-
Feb 16, 2020While not being able to romantically replace the sleepless nights with friends, sitting around a table or on the floor and armed with paper, pens, dice, snacks and carbonated drinks harmful to health, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is one of the modern videogame experiences more akin a paper role-playing campaign, hands down.
-
Feb 6, 2020A decent effort from Obsidian to transfer a complicated gameplay system to the consoles. Its not without flaws, some of which are new and some are ingrained in the game from the original version, but it still is a highly entertaining title, poised to offer dozens of hours of exciting swashbuckling adventures.
-
Feb 4, 2020It's advised that people play this gem of a game on PC in order to experience the best version of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, but the drawbacks of the console version can be overlooked by people who are really patient or don't mind messing around on their phone every couple of minutes when going back to a town to restock on times.
-
Feb 3, 2020Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is an extremely authentic port of the PC experience that stays very close to the source material. It certainly doesn’t hurt matters much when you consider how legitimately stellar the writing is. If it weren’t for the unfriendly control scheme and obscene loading times, this could very well have been an early contender for best PS4 RPG of 2020. Regardless, it can still easily stand on its own as an extremely solid title that’s very much worth your attention.
-
Feb 3, 2020It's the amazing RPG of 2018 with all the systems and mechanics well adapted to console controls, with a superb writing and translation. But, all that great things get muddier because of the long and habitual loading times: 60-90 seconds for every single time we cross a door, change area... Until a patch fixes it, it's a pain in the ass.
-
Jan 30, 2020If you don’t mind a game that requires you to work for the satisfaction of playing it, Deadfire’s Ultimate Edition is worth the investment for its lovely worldbuilding alone.
