Thankfully, the design is very, very good.

For Persona 5, the love and polish is there in equal amounts, but the somber jazzy style of the original game just doesn’t translate as successfully to a loud and groovy rhythm game experience.

At their core, both are solid, fun rhythm action games with kickass soundtracks that you can have a great time with, regardless of character knowledge, and despite the games being exact copies of each other. If you like the genre and have that itch, then get on your dancing shoes and enter the Velvet Room. The stage awaits.

Those who have already had their hearts taken by Persona 5 will enjoy their time with Dancing in Starlight, but those less familiar with the Phantom Thieves may be disappointed at its small song count and lack of extra content.

Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight and Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight are fantastic ways to explore their respective soundtracks from a new perspective. However, they lack the glue that a story mode brought to the previous game in the series that could have made it feel like a cohesive whole rather than a broad but disparate list of songs and customisations.

As long as a lack of a formal campaign isn’t a total deal breaker, Persona 5 fans should have enough here to enjoy themselves. Enjoy the extra time you’ll get with the Phantom Thieves and try not to think too much about the scrapped story mode.

Taking time out from fighting shadows or stealing hearts, Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight give you a fun way to hang out with your favourite SEES members or Phantom Thieves, while the series' iconic music has lost none of its resonance.

I personally don't think it's worth full price, because of the overall lack of content for that price. At around 40-50% off though, it's perfect. The amount of pretty great remixes, as well as the original songs, are all absolute bangers.

If you love the characters and their interactions, this game is absolutely perfect for that. They are pretty great rewards for doing the dances. However, a few characters' unlocks are quite a slog to go through. In particular Ryuji's, requiring you to get a large number of combos before being able to watch the cutscenes.

In short, this game is perfect for Persona 5 fans and is one of the only games I've ever gotten a platinum trophy for.

Perhaps becauseThe songs are great and the core gameplay is solid, but overall P3D and P5D are bare-bones releases in a way that P4D was not. Perhaps because of the backlash from P4D being canon Atlus has given up on trying to incorporate a meaningful solo mode in the Persona rhythm games. There is a lot of irony in the fact that P4D is bundled as an "extra" with P3D & P5D yet is actually the most substantial game of the lot. These are still worth playing for a chance to revisit your favorite characters but I am disappointed overall. Hopefully a Persona 3 remake is released with these assets. Expand

While the graphics and animation is beautiful, that’s all I can say for this cash grab. The little amount of free content (it is mostly DLC) I might forgive if the game was free but it is far from it. The gameplay is also not spectacular with brightly coloured moving backgrounds that make it hard to aim and it the notes. And don’t even bother with the VR mode, it is a huge letdown. Expand
