I don’t know which QA said this was ready to go, but I have never played a buggier game than this. Ever. You can’t even play 30 minutes without it crashing. Meanwhile, there’s a battle in which you’re FORCED to play turn-based, which takes **** forever. You can never finish that battle because the game constantly crashes. So. Best of luck with this awful trash.

There are two things horribly wrong with this game. It crashes quite frequently as you progress further into the game. It seems like only the prologue was QA/tested. It seems like only the prologue was QA/tested. This is incredibly frustrating as you have to save and save often - which itself isn't a smooth process - the game pauses for an incredibly long time as the save happens. Second - there are a whole bunch of insignificant areas - small areas that you can roam around in, in about 10 seconds. Too many of these small areas and too few large areas - the notable exception is the Drezen battle which is great (crashes notwithstanding). Then there is Alushinrya extremely large area but glitchy, frame-rate dropping, constantly crashing and a ghastly color palette that will burn your retinas. The game does a poor job of explaining things and you will learn that half of this game has to be discovered and played by reading up on forums and such. Loading times take forever, transition between areas are jarring and slow. It's clear that the developers poured all their attention into making the game complicated to understand and play (which is not the problem) but they have done this in lieu of creating a balanced game. The fatigue/travel system is frustrating and completely unncessary. Takes the joy away from the game. I have submitted at least 200 crashes that have taken place on my PS5 but there is no patch/fix I have seen yet. Pathetic and avoid this developer at all costs. Expand

I just bought this game after it has been released for over a year on console, and it is still just a series of bugs, one after the other, which is sad because the game desperately wants to be fun, but all the bugs make it impossible to enjoy.

Played both versions pc,ps4, and xbox 1 and due to my experience with both versions the ps4 version of this game is an absolute must buy, due to better performance, framerate, and graphics. I also recommend the pc version as well, since its been out longer and cost cheaper.

I love this game to death, as I have played it on PC shortly after the initial release and put over 120 hours in a "good" walkthrough (Angel path). I wanted this game on a shelf, and picking it on consoles is the only way to do so nowadays. I'm going to do another walkthrough on a PS5, probably a "bad" one (Lich or Demon, not sure yet), and for the moment I'm just about 10 hours in. It runs surprisingly well on a PS5, just saw two minor glitches so far, but no game-breaking bugs which is totally cool. I guess the game won't be bug-free, no chance for that, but the PC version is great right now, patched and polished. I bet this one will get all the fixes down the road. I'd say it is a great moment to pick it up as Pathfinder is one of the best RPGs of late, and right now it can be done with a gorgeous physical edition. The only sad thing is - there is no native PS5 version, only a past-gen one, and I hope the devs will update it in the following future. Expand

Clunky camera and controls. Overly complex systems. Boring encounters. Rogue is useless because you can't rotate the camera to get close for a backstab. This is not divinity, this is divinity before QA to cut down on the unnecessary stuff.

When I buy a game I expect it to run smoothly, it glitching, freezing and has bugs with animations.

fantastic RPG. The game runs great on ps5. controls are just fine. I dont get why this game gets less attention compared to RPG like PoE or DoS. PWotR is just better in many aspects
gameplay 10/10: the mechanics are so deep and there are sooo many viable builds. I also love how you can switch between turn-based and real-time. great if you want to change pacing of the game. Gameplay

Gameplay around pets and mounted combat is great. i particularly like how you can make a group of 10+ party members
Story: 7/10 story is epic and well-written. Maybe a bit too old-school if you compare with modern writing. same problem with PoE and DoS imo. but i guess it is a downside of the whole D&D genre
    Sound and music 8/10
graphics 6/10: graphics are fine, except characters. maybe a downgrade from the PC version

Some bugs and crashes, but far less than Kingmaker; solid story, incredible depth, relatively compelling characters and a whole load of fun to be had. Very high replay value. Probably one of my favourite games of 2022!

New players need not apply. This game is utterly inaccessible to those who haven't played Pathfinder before. You don't need to take my word for it, either. Go look at reddit's Pathfinder board. New players are asking all kinds of (what should be basic) questions there because the game doesn't tell you diddly crap about how most things work.

I have not had any bugs that other players are complaining about (I'm on PS4 Pro) just the extremely frustrating design. It's all very gatekept. If you don't know how something works, or what stats are required for ___ to work, what the terminology means, or what the mechanics even are, you're just screwed and helpless. I guess you could ask people on reddit for help explaining what should be an obvious thing every 5 minutes, but quite honestly, you shouldn't have to.

I thought I was going to love this game, but instead, it's an overwhelming wall of frustration that I can't make any progress in due to terrible game design specifically for new players. They got my $60 this time, but I won't make this mistake again. Avoid this game at all costs unless you have prior knowledge of how Pathfinder works.

Although this game does take way better improvements from pathfinder kingmaker ( I despise that game and I wrote a review for that as well), it just simply seems the developers just don't get how to truly make a charming rpg with minimal flaws. This game just simply sticks way too much to the source material (pathfinder), which in turns causes the game to be way overbloated right from character creation, and in turn creates annoying needs for constant usage of buffs, summons, and just overall luck from rolls in order to get past enemies high AC/dmg reduction.

    Pros
-Much better storyline than kingmaker, and the game does feel like there's more at stake, causing the player to just naturally care more about what's happening
-spell animations are way better than kingmaker
-i like the option of turn-base and rtwp
    -Can get some cool items

    Cons
-Although I haven't had the system crashing bugs like others have mention, I have had my fair share of bugs, ranging from characters floating in air, not loading properly (character riding on horse just disappears), certain spells just glitching (permanent stuck in a whole battle and my character could not move even after the spell wore off as an example), a fight once in awhile will get stuck and i have to reload/restart, menu options not always responsive (most notably when the glossary/tutorial screen pops up).
-Horrible balancing/designed battles, either battles are just way too easy and thus not rewarding, or they are impossible difficulty. For example, in act one there's a fight at greygarden or whatev it's call, this one mage will summon swarms (which are completely annoying in this game) and if that happens it was an instant wipe for my team. i had to completely turn the difficulty down as I could not get pass this battle without doing that. SO please tell me how that's good game design? or how about defending the tavern, that battle is a complete slog that can take hours to finish and for what? irabeth and her sidekicks just sit at the back doing nothing. Who designed that battle and thought oh yeah this is a good battle lets keep it exact.... Or against the gargoyle boss( forgot his name) i only won because i had to keep trying over and over again until i rolled enough crits....These are the most notable examples *theres way more than this*
-Too many sidekicks/characters, games like dos2, poe, spellforce, have a few companions which in turn leads to a more focused and dynamic character. In this game however, there's just way too many and just most of the characters are bland. Although I do think a few of them are cool, a lot are just downright boring or annoying. The voice acting is also very hit and miss.
-game still has too many random encounters
    - game has way too many pointless fights/battles that inflate overall playtime.
-game doesn't explain every key word, so you have to look stuff up.

I think the overall plot is okay, and ft's a decent game that does have it's moments, but for me i've played like 45hours and im already kinda experiencing burnout with this game

Picked it on PS5. There were stickers in the box and a mini book, which was nice. The game works much more smoothly than their previous game, but I haven't gotten too far. The controls are not always comfortable, but I know what I was getting into, I know Pathfinder is complicated. And the textures are low res, but the devs said they will patch it soon. B) bafflingly LONG loading time for PS5 hardware and its SSD plus that this game loads very very frequently,
    C) starting from the midpoint of the game stability is utter trash, meaning at least one crash every hour without known reasons or triggers (unpredictable so unavoidable),
    D) lots of bugs and design flaws.

Worst of all, if you google or reddit you'll see quite a few feedback on stability and optimization (and bugs of course), even in their official thread, however after more than 9 months since the launch of the Enhanced Edition Owlcat hasn't done anything about them. (As for bugs, most of them exist since 2021.)

And I haven't even say anything about issues of its nonsensical game balance and the frustratingly wrong ways to adapt TRPG into a video game...

I adore so much of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, from being able to play as an undead lich, to how the story adapts to that choice like you're playing through an incredibly detailed dark fantasy book. That's why I'm almost devastated by the game's lack of polish. It's unbalanced, there's bugs that forced regular restarts, and the console UI isn't suited to managing a crusade, which isn't as interesting as kingdom management. If this is your kind of game, you're better off trying to play on PC. Otherwise, you can join me in enjoying the game despite itself, or play Kingmaker until this has had some significant patches.

A staggering amount of content makes Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous an easy choice to recommend for those who have a lot of time to invest. An interesting narrative and player choices that define the outcome, this is a tale that is well worth experiencing.

Is Wrath of the Righteous a natural 20? Almost. Knowing the care that the developers invested in the previous game, I am pretty sure that the new Pathfinder will shed its initial issues and will be filed down until there are no more annoying edges, just a smooth experience. It is a dream come true for any classical RPG fans that want to be lost in an epic world, going through heroic adventures, while also exploring fulfilling side quests with quirky, yet charming companions. It has a high replay value, and you need at least two playthroughs to experience most of the content. It is a modern take on classical roleplaying that does not disappoint and manages to be newbie friendly as well.
