    There’s an interesting mix of characters and environments to keep the gameplay fresh, and the soundtrack is a delight. It doesn’t hold up so well as a single-player experience because of the repetitive nature if you have to do everything yourself, but it’s a great party game with some friends.

    Overcooked is a fun and colorful game that shouldn’t be overlooked if you have some friends to join you in the adventure. With some of the best level design of any indie game, Overcooked will constantly batter you with new challenges. However, with a lack of any online functionality that clearly handicaps solo players, this dish comes out lukewarm.

    Overcooked does feel like a glorified mobile game, of that there’s no doubt. Short, sharp levels, a sharp challenge in trying to get perfect scores on each level, and highly sanitized, cheerful, graphics that are as inoffensive as they are carefully constructed, all ensure that the first thing you’ll think when playing is that you might as well be playing it on iPad. But the production values, coupled with the genuinely entertaining multiplayer, help to make this one of the better “casual” games you’ll play this year.

    With simple controls and an easy to understand premise, anyone can turn their hand to it with ease, then partake in some truly stressful yet fun multiplayer cooking action.

    What it boils down to is that if you have two or more controllers and the appropriate amount of friends to play with, then you should check out Overcooked, but if you’re looking to dine alone, then you had best move on.

    Overcooked is quite possibly one of the best co-op games that I've had the pleasure of playing, and I'm always searching for that one gameOvercooked is quite possibly one of the best co-op games that I've had the pleasure of playing, and I'm always searching for that one game that I can play with my girlfriend. Other co-ops tend to have an alpha gamer problem and well, that means I'm usually the problem. Overcooked, on the other hand, distinctly avoids this by gimmicking its levels such that you absolutely must co-operate and co-ordinate if you want to get three stars.

    As a result, every player is engaged and constantly communicating, which is a good sign your co-op game is doing its job. Take the basics of something like Diner Dash and throw in the added conundrum of managing resources and logstics, and you have Overcooked. Rather than simply bashing out recipes and delivering them, each level has a sort of twist to it that requires players to overcome, be it simply the layout, things shifting around, or even terrain effects (yes, there are ice levels). Quite simply, you can't succeed at this game on your own.

    Even in single player, you must control two chefs and switch between them in order to solve logistics problems. While entertaining to a certain point, juggling the campaign by yourself while controlling two chefs clearly demonstrates that the game needs to have human bodies controlling the individual chefs or nothing really gets done. As the game is designed around couch co-op, it's no wonder single player is frustrating and it's not a hit against the game - you're lucky it's there to begin with.

    A bonus of Overcooked is that even if you're short on controllers, you can split each controller into halves, so if you have two controllers, you can get four players into the game. While it can cause a little bit of confusion sharing a single controller between two people, it's a wonderful addition to the game especially considering the price of a Dual Shock 4.

    I played the whole game with my girlfriend and we had A BLAST. Overcooked is a PERFECT, casual, co-op game to play with someone.

    Playing it solo is not too much fun, though, as you still need to control 2 characters yourself, which becomes a hassle. But having someone to yell and laugh with is just so much fun.

    I've been missing games like this for a while and do hope the developer releases an expansion or some DLC with more stages and recipes. This game was worth every cent. If you are looking for a quick, casual, fun, co-op game, I recommend this 100%!    … Full Review »
