A fun game for the fans who want to relive one of the most exciting arcs of the One Piece franchise. Lack of difficulty and appeal to those outside of the fandom and complex mechanics that can be easily forgotten unfortunately limit the player base. However with a variety of game modes that’ll have players coming back for more, this is a must play for the fans.

With a combat system that requires simple combos to achieve signature techniques, as well as activate Logia powers and Haki, each moment feels geared toward a faithful recreation of the source material. While it may only be a game for those who already love the series, Burning Blood delivers fans a boat load of fun.

One Piece: Burning Blood is the perfect game for the fans of the popular anime/manga, but its story mode and its simple gameplay mechanics are not recommended for the players of fighting games.

Burning Blood offers a great approach to One Piece Universe. Fighting mechanics and game modes suit the series perfectly, but we miss some characters from the anime and level design could be more detailed.

Perfect for the One Piece fans but not the best fighting game around. The campaign is short and almost every other game mode gets boring before too long.

One Piece Burning Blood is an enjoyable fighting game that will delight fans of the series from beginning to end. There is a lot of fan service, awesome art and great music, but the mechanics lack polish and identity giving fans the sensation of playing just another anime fighting game.

One Piece: Burning Blood satisfies friends of the series, but probably leaves others cold. [Aug 2016]

Even though it's not One Piece's first game, it is as a PS4 game and the feeling can't be better. It lacks story content, which revolves around Marineford's story arc, and really simple scenarios. Visually, it looks really like Pirate Warriors, although an enhanced modelling of the characters, really fluid and with no framerate drops, make it look closer to the manga.

Since the presentation matches the source material quite well, One Piece fans will be pleased enough with this game as they continue with one of the longest manga stories ever told.

Spike Chunsoft learned something from their previous fighting Shonen game, J.Stars Victory Vs+. Albeit One Piece: Burning Blood has many similarities with this, in the end the focus in the aspects like haki and the abilities of many Devil fruit users benefited this title to the point of becoming something predictable. Despite its many noticeable failures, this is one game that fans from the manga and anime will truly enjoy.

A good take on One Piece with a solid but very simple fighting game. A good fan-service for everyone who loves Luffy and his friends.

One Piece: Burning Blood is an interesting game with tons of characters to choose from, a great array of game modes and a solid battle system. And of course, you will find the best representation of One Piece’s characters in a videogame.

One Piece: Burning Blood is far from perfection, especially if you are a fighting games lover. Much better if you like Rufy and company. In this case, you will find one of the best representation of One Piece’s characters in a videogame.

Mostly a game for the fans, Burning Blood is a spectacle fighter game that won't be able to grab you unless you're familiar with the One Piece universe. For the fans though, the game offers quite a lot - from solid gameplay, to familiar story and lovable cast.

It’s not without its faults and the difficulty spikes during Story Mode could certainly do with a rethink, but despite these issues, One Piece: Burning Blood delivers a fine recreation of the hugely popular One Piece series while also providing a genuinely enjoyable, if slightly lightweight brawler.

One Piece Burning Blood is an easy to play fighting-game with some great graphics. Unfortunately the story mode is somewhat short and the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive after a while. It is still a great game for fans of One Piece despite the flaws.

At the end of the day, One Piece: Burning Blood is another fun instalment of this series that features a decent collection of playable characters that is cemented with a sturdy gaming engine.

The chaotic action really pops with sketchy cartoon visuals — I especially loved the visceral satisfaction of knocking my opponents into background objects and watching the debris fall. This isn’t as tight or polished as some of the other stuff out there (Naruto Shippuden’s latest installment comes to mind), but it’s well-worth a look if you’re a One Piece junkie or just a fighting game fan looking for a little anarchic fun.

One Piece: Burning Blood is a great example of a licensed videogame, and it gets so much right, bringing the characters of One Piece to life in spectacular fashion. It’s a shame that the limited and unwelcoming narrative scope and unnecessary difficulty spikes take away from what is otherwise a great arena brawler.

It's not quite the bountiful booty that is One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, but Burning Blood's explosive combat is bound to leave a mark all the same.

It’s great to have something made just for fans, though even Luffy's biggest supporters will be let down by the brief, limited campaign. At its best, this wild and crazy fighter makes for a fun distraction for folks who've been dying for more One Piece games to get localized.

There’s joy to be had in One Piece: Burning Blood. It’s initially fun and colorful fighting fare that evokes the feel of the anime series superbly. A lack of nuance in the combat, extreme difficulty spikes and the growing sense of repetition all conspire to strangle that joy right back out of the game.

This game could have been a great jumping off point to bring new fans to the series. However, this game does nothing to establish the back story or relationship of the characters beyond touching on Luffy and his brother, Ace, leaving any player new to the series scratching their head.

For the most patient fans of the series, the number of callbacks and beautifully animated representations of their favorite characters will prove to be their greatest rewards as they struggle valiantly to unlock the actual rewards.

While the combat and variety of game modes can be a lot of fun, along with beautiful cel-shaded cutscenes that recreate the fan favorite Paramount War arc, jumping into a story that takes place more than halfway into the nearly 750 episode anime series makes One Piece: Burning Blood one that might be best left to just the most hardcore fans.

It looks like Burning Blood has been conceived for the original series fans to to have thrilling challenges against the CPU, in which they can appreciate the the great number of special moves and spectacular techniques. The game presents a rather concentrate main mode and not so interesting secondary options.

I'm not a fan of One Piece: Burning Blood and it's not because of the unfamiliar source material. The combat here just isn't that fun, and no amount of colorful anime action will change that.
  41. 55
Behind its gorgeous and appealing graphics, One Piece: Burning Blood conceals a coarse, unbalanced, slow and unfairly punitive gameplay. Probably it would have been wiser to delay its release to fix the obvious flaws in its design.

A mediocre arena fighter that makes sense only when you go online and fight with your friends. Recommended only for die-hard One Piece fans.
  44. 50
One Piece: Burning Blood does a solid job of adapting such an important story to a video game, but doesn't do a great job at letting newcomers know why it matters. Die-hard One Piece fans will get some enjoyment here, but there are definitely better fighting games out there.

While One Piece: Burning Blood may look pretty, offer some nice content and a bizarre cast (including a cross dressing pirate based on Rocky Horror Picture Show’s Frank N Furter), it wasn’t enough to keep me interested. I can’t even imagine fans of the anime would get much out of this release, especially as this is just the latest entry in a long line of games based on this franchise.

FINALLY! A Fighting Game that utilises One Piece at it's best.

Story Mode is limited to Marineford, but at least they picked the greatest arc possible for a campaign. The combat mechanics are incredibly fun and surprisingly in-depth. Presentation is it's best aspect, with exquisite faithfulness to Eiichiro Oda's masterpiece.

One Piece's unyielding charm is represented beautifully in this game (e.g Sanji not being able to hit women, Manga-style character intros, funny team interactions etc), so I'm sure the same way the Anime gained so millions of supporters, this game will too!

Can't wait for Burning Blood 2.

the story mode is REALLY short ( like 4 hours short ) which is why i didn't give it a 10 . and it only covers the Marineford Arc! kinda sad about that .
but! the gameplay mechanics are so much FUN! a lot of special moves / combos you can do ( some really sick and hard combos btw )
and 42 playable characters you can chose from ! and a lot more you can pick for assists and stuff.
there's also the WANTED versus mode , it's a nice add but nothing special here
online mode is amazing , the netcode is actually very good imo ..
over all i really love the game , and if you love fighting games and you love the anime you should get this game ASAP!
