    This game is HUGE. There is so much content, so much to do. As for the game itself, there is a short learning curve but the mechanic becomes second-nature and as hugely satisfying as anything in the Dark Souls universe. Plus the boss fights are truly fair — challenging but not petty and infuriating. I am loving this game.

    I started my journey with Demon Souls and ever since been fan of the sub-genre. With that said I am very skeptical of new imitations or clones not because I despise the idea but because of poor execution. Nioh 1 controls were bad however to my surprise in Nioh 2 all issues and annoyances has been fixed as well as great improvements to game mechanics which is deeper tha Dark SoulsI started my journey with Demon Souls and ever since been fan of the sub-genre.     This is my favorite Souls game since Dark Souls. This game expands not only on the first one, but on the From games they copied as well. It is a return to form for Team Ninja too; having made the masterpiece Ninja Gaiden Black but unable to repeat that originality or quality. It accomplishes what the genre and Team Ninja have been struggling to do:

    - Remain challenging without being    This is my favorite Souls game since Dark Souls. This game expands not only on the first one, but on the From games they copied as well.     - Create new ideas / gameplay elements
    - Be a fun game that is original and not stale

    Nioh 2 has mediocre reviews, has dreadful character creation/tutorials/1st level, and the first one was an unremarkable Souls knockoff. There's a lot of things that could dissuade you from playing it. I almost didn't buy it and I didn't like it at first. I understand the bad reviews. However, once I got past all that, I realized there was more to this game that meets the eye.

    Make no doubt about it, the game is challenging. The new gameplay elements are hard to understand and poorly explained. The game is fair though, and captures what was good about DS, I think. Though unforgiving and unaccommodating, it gives you the tools to completely slaughter everything in your path once you have mastered them. A seemingly endless improvement to your skills and huge learning curve that pays off. The gameplay has a lot of depth to it and is satisfying.

    The weak inventory system, unremarkable and random items, lam story, chore like side missions of the first Nioh are still here and i find them cons. No game builds beautiful dream like horror/fantasy worlds like dark souls, and Nioh isn't close.

    On the other hand, never have QTEs (in the form of ki and demon parrys) been implemented so well and the action-rpg elements are great.    … Expand

A perfect sequel - improves everything gameplay wise from a previos Nioh and adds even more mechanics like yokai abilities, more armor and weapons variety, enemies etc. The only flaw it has is PS4 performance - but that's more of a Sony fault, not Team Ninja. Picture is just too ugly on base PS4 compared to Pro. I really hope stupid Sony won't blueball us likeAbsolutely gorgeous game.     Yes this game is hard but you have all the tools to beat it. This game is meant to be played multiplayer. I'm having a blast, best game all year!

    Great game that builds off if the previous success of the first nioh. Only two new weapons but they're both great fun. Combat is fluid as ever, a much more refined soulslike combat that is more satisfying.

    Spent more than 900 hours on this game and I enjoyed every minute , it’s a masterpiece. Need time to understand it’s mechanic and to master blacksmith options. DLC and NG pluses are a must to experience the full enjoyment. This is not a trophy grinding kind of games like dark soul or bloodborne, it’s an RPG/Samuri game that you’re working hard to level up, upgrading and trying builds andSpent more than 900 hours on this game and I enjoyed every minute , it’s a masterpiece.     I absolut love this game, the mechanics, the gameplay, all the different weapons e armors. With almost 150 hours of gameplay I can say that if you like souls bourne games, you will like it. It is a hard game, extra punishing sometimes, but if you master it, you will become almost a god, with the right sets e moves. I liked this one more than Sekiro

    Phenomenal game. Only improved on a very solid foundation they set with Nioh 1. Character Creation, more combat depth and awesome new mechanics. If you loved Nioh 1 then this is for you. Pick it up!

    Masterpiece. Significant improvement over the first game. Ive played very souls game. Ds1-3. Nioh, bloodborn, sekiro. This is the best one. This isn't a souls clone. This is ninja gaiden, with rpg elements. And it's amazing.

    I platted Nioh2 and love it. It's a bit of a niche game but the gameplay is so good and rewarding. The co-op works perfect and it's so fun to run around with 2 randoms. I just love it, what a game.

    I put 200 hours into Nioh 2 and a had a ton of fun with it, If you find yourself getting frustrated try and use different strategies and take time to really learn enemies patterns and abilities.

    Make sure not to rush things and just button mash, because It really encourages learning the right moment to go all in on your offense and when to stay defensive until an enemy leaves itself    I put 200 hours into Nioh 2 and a had a ton of fun with it, If you find yourself getting frustrated try and use different strategies and take time to really learn enemies patterns and abilities.

    Absolutely better than last year "GOTY". deep combat system, deep costumization system, and more stable FPS. Such an underrated game, with so much potential. A must-play game for hardcore gamer

    An improvement over the original in every sense, one of the best Koei Tecmo games I've played outside of Ninja Gaiden and (personal favourite) Kessen. I just wish this level of care was put into some of their other titles. Also I was a fan of William in the first game, but the character creator is a good addition which makes the game feel a bit more personal.     People keep saying, 'I beat dark souls, bloodborne,' but this game is just too hard; they are lying! If you can beat any Soulsborne games you can handle this and will love it! They really took some of the best elements of many of the games and the multiplayer is quick and easy. Don't believe the reviews.     I really struggled early on. Be warned that you can’t just throw in a cup and be carried through by visitors. I waited for hours on some levels, trying as I may to beat a boss with no one coming in to help. This may have been because it was early after release. The ai summons are god awful and the lock on can be poor especially when there are multiple enemies on the screen. Item management can also be a bit tedious.

    None of the above matters though because Nioh 2 is a juicy looter game with hand to hand combat which is perfect for me. There’s tons of content and it’s really fun struggling solo or in a group.    … Expand

    Best souls-like of the history!! I think Nioh 2 is the only game that have equal quality as souls-borne series. Perfect game but wish have more story plot-twists. Also graphic was outdated some how. All and all no one play any soulslikes for story are graphics. The only and only important thing is gameplay and team ninja did their perfect job at this.

The Combat is so fun and you have 100 of mechanics and nearly infinity Content. You can grind if you want to minmax fast, but you dont need it.     Some people say Nioh 2 is a copy of Nioh 1, well, those people are undoubtedly judging a book by its cover, because Nioh is a game that has such a deepness and so much work you will need to play it really deeply to know how much of the game has changed and improved in this sequel (actually prequel storywise). Again, some people tend to judge this game way too quickly and that only speaks bad for them and not for the game.

    Nioh 2 does indeed have a lot of Nioh 1 inside but that's because Nioh players really liked the first part and it only serves as a foundation to release an improved game over a game that was already near perfect. And of course a lot of new things were added and some major changes took place with the inclusion of the new yokai mode, the dark realm, the possibility to play missions only with two more players, the blue revenants, two new weapons, mixing of soul cores with guardian spirits, new enemies, new bosses and of course new settings to 90% of its content.

    If you are a smart player with a minimum of intelligence and you're able to make your own opinion about things I'm sure you'll definitely enjoy this game and see further than just the book cover ;)    … Expand

    Amazing game! The bad reviews are from jealous xbots review-bombing, so don't listen to them. The gameplay is comprehensive and complex. Graphics are great. Character diversity is outstanding. Very Souls-like. Definitely challenging.

The level design and enemy variety in particular is leaps and bounds better and dare I say Soulsborne level of greatness and immersive and even beyond with the rpg elements. This game needs to be celebrated andNioh 2 is as close to the perfect game with the whole package as it gets.     This is one of the best games I've ever played... I'm not a giant dark souls fan, and haven't yet beat sekiro... But so far I'm liking this a lot... I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a challenge, its not too hard as long as you actually spend time learning the mechanics properly.

    I don't have a lot of time to play games, but I still love them, so I play many of them on normal difficulty. In a lot of games, I eventually end up killing all the baddies in the same way and it feels quite powerful if a game has done it right. I get the same feeling in this game, but for a different reason. You don't get to beat all the baddies in the same way.     After spending a ton of time in the first game and getting to max level 750, I’m happy to say that this game is far better. The graphics, sound and gameplay including fluidity of movements is amazing and much improved. I understand what people are saying about the dark realm and how hard (unfair) if can be, you just have to be more offensive and use you Yokai skills.     Amazing. Loved both Nioh games. Easily the best souls-like series out there. I have played all of the Dark Sould games, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and other souls like games like Lords of the Fallen, The Surge, and Code Vein. I have to say that Nioh 2 is outstanding.

    Just like the first Nioh it's difficult starting out until you get into a rhythm with the different combat styles. All in all, as a 'casual player' I'm enjoying the challenge of it and loving the changes they've made in Nioh 2. IMO even if I hadn't liked it I can still appreciate the work that went into making the game, but I'm sure all the crybabies wouldn't know anything about that.

    So far I ain't got nothing but love Nioh and Nioh 2. I like the new fighting mechanics, the new enemies, and that they didn't scale back on the hardness of it. Really the challenge is what makes me love the game even more. It's not a game for everyone, but if you don't at least try to get into you'll never know whether you'll love it or hate it.

    An improvement in every way . Nioh 1 had some issues but nioh 2 has addressed them and gone further with a better skill system new enemies and a revamped online system. Combat is punishing but fair and at times will make you sit back and think what can i learn from that death. The character creator is top notch and will absorb a lot of your time

    I really enjoyed the first Nioh and love the Soulsborne series. I thought they really ramped up the difficulty until after getting past boss #3 I think. I swear that level scaled with your level even though it had a very low recommended level and made me dread things to come. Luckily, it became challenging but not overwhelmingly difficult once you passed that zone. While I haven't finishedI really enjoyed the first Nioh and love the Soulsborne series.     Great music, atmosphere, new skill changes, and story if you like that in these type of games. Giving a 10/10 for gameplay, sound, multiplayer and customization. The only thing that is kind of disappointing is the Yokai are the basically the same as the first game with a few additions.

    So for those who claim it's too hard, be patient and it gets better. The beginning is harder than the rest of the game. Like most games, you start as a weakling and later achieve god-like status.    … Expand

    Just as great as the predecessor! Team Ninja is a master in this kind of game!
    Stunning in all aspects, more weapons, more yokai and another complicated story. Technically perfect and most important of all, VERY AMUSING, and not frustrating like other games of this kind.
    I think From Software should have a lesson from them!

    Everything that I had an issue with from the first has been fixed, the new Yokai are beast, and the soul core and transformation system kicks ass!? I love it!

Team Ninja really did their homework with the Japanese mythology and the designs for the Yokai demons. the game play is the best one I´ve played with in a "souls" game. The music is phenomenal and the story and very emotional. i have dedicated more than 165 hours to the game, have the platinum trophy and will continue to play it! Can´t wait for the Dlc. Ifwhat a freaking amazing game!     Another Nioh, great boss fights. I loved the few new mechanics. I had some troubles with some axe moves missing which never happened in Nioh 1. So the combat brought some good changes but also some rare but weird bugs. Still 10/10 for me.

    This is the sequel you want simply breathtaking, I played this on launch and have been blown away they took all to good from the first and just added more, map design, music, and ya eplay in my opinion is just about some of the cleanest most refined in any game, if you love souls like games or enjoyed the first or just want a fantastic game Nioh 2 is the one.

    Great game, there are a lot of different builds player can try. It's really cool that you got owned by the boss at the beginning and then after 100 hours effort you can just cut them down easily.

    This was my first time playing a game like this and i have to say it was a challenge. This game made me a stronger player having to overcome hard obstacles it brought out the best of me haven't played a game yet this year that did that to me. I am happy with my improvements in hard games like this and that is why iam giving this rating a 10 well done nioh.

    If I try really, REALLY hard to come up with flaws from the original game, all I can say is that it doesn't have Guardian Spirit leveling up, and soul matching can't get your equipment from +0 to +1.
    That's all.

    Everything has been improved, from little things to bug fixes and being able to see your character when fashioning them, to the magnificent (the best even) character creation I've ever seen. Everything from the old one is here, and more, all the gear, the sets, the weapons, most of the guardian spirits. But Team Ninja just keeps on adding more and more, more weapons, more sets, more equipment, the story is longer, some of the music is actually good this time, more missions while having 1's older levels as side quests sometimes, the difficulties are improved, there are more mechanics like the Stone of Penance and the Scrolls to make your stat customization even deeper, graces, remodeling gear to better suit your playstyle. Everything is executed perfectly.

    My only complaint about this game is the god awful netcode it has. Besides that, it's perfection. I was fully immersed, and still am to this day after putting in a full year into this game. I haven't even finished the last difficulty yet because the underworld is so satisfying and fun to do. The gear can go to +120 now and the underworld has 999 floors. It's an endless joyride, from start to finish, from the beginning of the story to the impressively handled continuation of 1's story. Everything is in here, you don't even need to play 1 besides for its story because Nioh 2 does everything, but better.

    Truly one of the best games of the decade, and definitely the best of this generation of video games.    … Expand

    주인공이 간지나고 멋있다. 하지만 고스트 오브 쓰시마를 먼저 해서 그럴까.. 타격감은 고스트 오브 쓰시마보다 다소 낮다.. 고스트 오브 쓰시마가 워낙 타격감이 훌륭한 게임이란게 아쉽다.
    하지만 이 게임이 타격감이 결코 낮다는게 아니다. 다크소울3보다도 훨씬 타격감이 뛰어난 게임이다.

    The second Nioh is more than just a continuation of the legacy. The authors have been able to learn from the mistakes of the first game, and thanks to that this is an excellent action RPG that will not let you rest and you will want to keep playing. [Issue#303]

    I love a great third-person actioner, and I’m hard-pressed to think of one that nails the formula as perfectly as Nioh 2 does. The systems are pleasantly crunchy and there are a ton to dig into, the moment-to-moment fights get my blood pumping, and the artwork and theming are all spot-on. Too much of a good thing is too much of a good thing, but Nioh 2 is exactly the right amount.

    Nioh 2 does what a good sequel should. It capitalizes on the best parts of its predecessors while providing new content and mechanics to advance the franchise. While the story structure and level design are largely the same, added weapons, more build depth, and new combat mechanics all enhance what the game has to offer. It doesn't always hit the mark perfectly, but it's a solid addition to the series. And let's face it, being a samurai is awesome.
