A relentless flow of action with a large selection of guns available deliver a lot of fun, especially in co-op. Controls could have been a bit more intuitive and sometimes it's hard to have a clear overview of what's going on around you. Nevertheless an entertaining title.

The game is cute and looks great, but thanks to its control scheme, isn't very fun to play.

Stylish presentation and quirky fun are Ninjin: Clash of Carrots's standout selling points. Retro graphics and an eccentric storyline are the heart and soul of the experience, even if the script is at times frustratingly over-the-top. Ultimately, Ninjin holds up as a mostly fun experience, but its co-op modes, amusing story, and enemy variety fail to overpower an over-simplicity that lets it down.

Ninjin: Clash of Carrots is a superb looking game that has an initially fun gameplay loop with the mixture of bullet hell mechanics and scrolling beat-em-ups. Unfortunately, the cracks appear when you hit the midway point and realise that there are no more tricks left and all that is left is repetition and unspent potential.

Ninjin: Clash of Carrots tries so hard be like old time Beat 'em Up titles, and even tries to change the genre's formula by using Endless Runner mechanics, but it has failed in both, and the final result is a shallow, repetitive، boring and incomplete Beat 'em Up title.

Despite keeping an open mind with the title, its concept is flawed in its execution and it lacks a sense of identity and purpose for its characters and story. What seemed like a title that could reinforce the reason not to judge a book by its cover proves to be the exact opposite in almost every aspect.

While it doesn't reach masterpiece-levels in any of its elements, it manages to orchestrate them to generate something that LOOKS kiddie but it is definitely not a "kids' game" (nothing wrong with game for kids, I just picture a lot of people ticking this as one of them just by looks). S-Ranking all stages will be demanding, very demanding, and you have to know that your success will depend on both trial-and-error with your equipment customization AND the memorization of each stage. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, particularly if you grew up in the SNES era. Full Review »

This game is really not for people who are quick to get mad, those who refuse to adapt and use the same items, type of weapon, and build the entire game. There are situations that require serious multitasking and quick thinking, with the dash especially. What may seem like an invincible dash will put you into a free fall when you don't use it right. The game has 5 general music tracks, which are played differently, and a highly rated boss track, so it isn't lacking in music. The humor is satire for the most part, and the story is... not the main focus. It has a unique story, but it's not really something to play based on story. Overall, it still is worth the time in both single and multiplayer, as they are each fun in different ways. Full Review »
