This game rocks my socks off. It's weird, that's good. It's a fast, hard at times, pretty- side scrolling platformer with many mechanics from the family of existing ninja-ish side scrollers. First thing I liked was the title, Ninja Pizza Girl, which to me says "this game is both weird and cool, come play it." Second was the cover pic of a cartoon average girl doing ninja moves. Awesome. Third (and I REALLY love this part) was the kind of attitude against soul-less corporate commercial giants. It's literally a mom-n-pop pizza shop the main character works for (owned by her father) and I like the positive light it sheds on those kinds of establishments.
It started easy but got hard at times. Some levels I had to play almost a dozen times to proceed, but that's only because I believe in conquering a game and was not willing to adjust the difficulty slider in the options which is both easy and convenient. It's not a candy coated mario game. Sometimes I literally would fail the level 5 times in a row because I simply could not find the right spot to drop down in, which is an INSANE thing to say about a side scrolling platformer, but given the game's nature I knew it had to be right there somewhere, nothing a little trial and error won't fix.
Interviews and outfits and game modes to unlock, all great things, and not difficult to unlock either.
Definitely an indie game, cut-scenes consist of 5-6 pics one after the other and a narrative text, which I could still appreciate.
Fourth thing I liked was the price, 10 bucks, *shoves money forward* "I demand you take my money."
Also, Dubstep, cuz sounds,
but not the annoying kind, it's good and the music builds and activates when you're on a roll.
I have one single gripe about this game and that is when i jump or fall great distances, the roll mechanic to land by pressing circle seems slightly under-calibrated, could be my controller, but at least 10+ times I pressed the button exactly when it seemed I should and it didn't work, leaving my character to fall hard, which slows her down quite a bit when this game is all about speed.
If that's a -1 then it's made up for by the +1 of this being an indie mom-n-pop type developer who worked long and hard on this game and on a budget.
It's awesome, you should buy it right now, and leave a review here cuz the game doesn't have enough yet lol… Expand
