This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished the first playthough, I didn't get the true ending, but I watched it on YouTube.

I think I got the normal ending, where Aluche died and the Nightlord was destroyed. I kinda like that ending over the true ending, where they kind of stuck at the end of time forever.

I love the character design of this series, all the characters look very nice, even the villains. I freaking love Muveil's design. Also the music is pretty good, especially the final boss fight music, that really fit the feel of that fight.

But this game has way too many problems to be enjoyable, I would even say overall it is less enjoyable than the first game. The strict time limit really sucks, I might replay it someday with NG+, but they pretty much force you through the first playthrough, that sucks! Also the 2 character + 2 servan system is very inflexible, they should've allowed 4 characters total and allow you to mix and match. There are so many days where I want to bring 2 or 3 girls along so I can finish up their side quests in a particular area, but can't due to the way the party is limited. Also the lack of healing spell or servans really sucks for the first and final boss fight.

I'm just really disppointed that they seem to have taken one step forward and two steps back in terms of game design. Adding the time (days) limit is a serious drawback. I'm pretty sure there won't be a NoA3 since Sony has gone to full worldwide censorship (and even if they make NoA3, probably no more sexy costume design), so this is probably the end of the series, I wish it would've ended on a higher note. I guess Gust will go back to making more Atelier games.
