    LONG REVIEW FOR BOTH FANS,CASUALS, AND HATERS

    This game does not deserve a single point, even though its animations, graphics, movement, roster has been improved, all of these "new and improved" features are free patches for every other non-sports games. Even though there are games that do not change their formula and releases the same thing every year like Call of Duty (COD), those    LONG REVIEW FOR BOTH FANS,CASUALS, AND HATERS

    This game does not deserve a single point, even though its animations, graphics, movement, roster has been improved, all of these "new and improved" features are free patches for every other non-sports games.

    Even though there are games that do not change their formula and releases the same thing every year like Call of Duty (COD), those games in the very least changes where the game is set on and creates entirely different models (a gun in Call of Duty Modern Warfare is not in Advance Warfare and its skins/graphics are different while a basketball player is NBA2K series is a player model that has his skin/detail redrawn for "improving graphics").

    I would also like to add that each iteration of the game had the same terrible servers and the buggy launches during its first few weeks of release. Their improvements should've carried over from one iteration to the other however it seems that they just can't learn to avoid these mistakes.

    To top it off, this game just brings back removed game modes/features from its previous iterations and is sold at the base price for $60 for all these "new" features.
    People may argue that this game has a different story from the previous iterations, however many other games like Witcher have sold new compelling stories as a DLC which gives people a choice to pay a bit more (but less than a full priced game) for additional content for the game that they own.

    It boggles my mind how people defend this game when it is clear as day that they are being exploited and taken advantage of themselves.

    It is okay to be passionate and optimistic, but it becomes bad for you and the people around you if you let it blind you from what is actually happening. If the game is doing something wrong, then critic it, don't excuse it and give it a high score. How can they improve it if you do not speak out and reinforce it with action. Action speaks louder than words. (Analogy: In a situation wherein a kid does something bad, if I tell that kid not to do bad but I myself do the bad thing, the kid will not take me seriously right?)

    With everything said on this review, I have nothing more to say other than ending this with a question.

    Do you really think the employees of 2K deserves earning the $60 money for the new features of this each of the iteration for the games while for the same price or even less, other Triple A/Indie Game Developers creates the entirety of their game (graphics, sound, narrative, game mechanics, GUIs, programming, etc.) from scratch?    … Expand

    Microtransactions in a $60 AAA game. Disgusting. Don't buy it. Greedy company that wont put out a good product, just like EA.

    If I didn't know any better, I would have thought that the EA Madden team took over this game.

    Add some ish, take it away, bring it back, update some graphics, and call the game "new," or "different."

    Way too many microtransactions and gambling themes. If I wanted to gamble I would go to a Casino! Give me my basketball game back! Only good thing is graphics, but does that make a good game? No.

    Disgusting slot machine. This devolution of games must be stopped immediately. Still it is not much of e review bombing since the gameplay itself is absolutely identical to last years edition. Therefore this game actually deserves 0 and morally maybe even negative one...

    Used to be a loyal buyer for what was consistently the preeminent basketball game, but no more. Haven't bought since 2K17 and won't until major changes are made. I'm cool with Freemium models. I am not cool with paying more money after paying full price for the game. However, history tells us screwing over your loyal fanbase will eventually catch up with you. As soon as another company can offer a decent game, I will support them 100%. The only way to send 2K a message and make changes is to stop supporting them with your wallet.

    As for the game itself, it looks like the same game as the past 5 years (is this Madden or something?). Completely controlled by the same set of animations that I saw back in 2K13. A total disregard for the offline modes that do exist. 2K will not improve the game until they are forced to. This is a game for the year 2020, the gameplay should be so realistic at this point that an unaware viewer should struggle to tell if it's a real NBA game. .7/10 is too high of a score for this trash game!! I miss turning my trash Suns into a competitive team, but I will continue to wait in order to send a message.    … Expand

    Who in their right mind thought that this game was ready to be released? So many bugs made this game unplayable. You want to progress trough the game? Well thats not going to happen. Putting the bugs aside there is the greedy predatory mechanic involving literall casino games to fool players into spending real money. What a disaster of a game.

Looking at these critic reviews... 90, 80,75 ...... how can you give a game a review over a 5 when even the developers are saying they are working around the clock to fix this game.     This is the worst 2k I’ve ever played. No matter how much time I put into it my character doesn’t make any improvements. I’m a slasher and can’t drive past a guy half a foot shorter than me. The game is literally made to make you not want to play. Park is unplayable and the my career is awful

    Will not stand by and watch EA ruin the industry any more than they already have. Played for a few hours with a friend earlier today and the amount of greed is digusting. The only thing not copy and pasted from past titles is what could be tied into micro transactions. Havent bought an EA title in a few years and after today probably wont again.

    A complete copy and pasta of gameplay, AI, and user interface from last year — including every inconvenience and broken bit completely unaddressed. Quicksand player movement, casino style micro-transactions, pointless advancements of player storyline that make it impossible to actually play between countless cut-scenes. Way more effort spent on Idris Elba's cameos instead of fixing bugsA complete copy and pasta of gameplay, AI, and user interface from last year — including every inconvenience and broken bit completely unaddressed. I merely award this game a grand Zero (0/10) because a videogame rated for everyone (including children) features shameful casino mechanics with dreaded RNG loot boxes and the likes. This alone is enough to ruin an otherwise solid game in its genre. As if no one learned from the Star Wars Battlefront 2 controversy, and it was only 2I don't pretend I have played this game extensively.     NBA 2K20 includes fewer innovations than a "copy/paste club", yet manages to still play and feel pretty great. Gambling and microtransactions involved are becoming more and more toxic with each year tho.
