    This game does not deserve a single point, even though its animations, graphics, movement, roster has been improved, all of these "new and improved" features are free patches for every other non-sports games. Even though there are games that do not change their formula and releases the same thing every year like Call of Duty (COD), those    LONG REVIEW FOR BOTH FANS,CASUALS, AND HATERS

    This game does not deserve a single point, even though its animations, graphics, movement, roster has been improved, all of these "new and improved" features are free patches for every other non-sports games.

    Even though there are games that do not change their formula and releases the same thing every year like Call of Duty (COD), those games in the very least changes where the game is set on and creates entirely different models (a gun in Call of Duty Modern Warfare is not in Advance Warfare and its skins/graphics are different while a basketball player is NBA2K series is a player model that has his skin/detail redrawn for "improving graphics").

    I would also like to add that each iteration of the game had the same terrible servers and the buggy launches during its first few weeks of release. Their improvements should've carried over from one iteration to the other however it seems that they just can't learn to avoid these mistakes.

    To top it off, this game just brings back removed game modes/features from its previous iterations and is sold at the base price for $60 for all these "new" features.
    People may argue that this game has a different story from the previous iterations, however many other games like Witcher have sold new compelling stories as a DLC which gives people a choice to pay a bit more (but less than a full priced game) for additional content for the game that they own.

    It boggles my mind how people defend this game when it is clear as day that they are being exploited and taken advantage of themselves.

    It is okay to be passionate and optimistic, but it becomes bad for you and the people around you if you let it blind you from what is actually happening. If the game is doing something wrong, then critic it, don't excuse it and give it a high score. How can they improve it if you do not speak out and reinforce it with action. Action speaks louder than words. (Analogy: In a situation wherein a kid does something bad, if I tell that kid not to do bad but I myself do the bad thing, the kid will not take me seriously right?)

    With everything said on this review, I have nothing more to say other than ending this with a question.

    Do you really think the employees of 2K deserves earning the $60 money for the new features of this each of the iteration for the games while for the same price or even less, other Triple A/Indie Game Developers creates the entirety of their game (graphics, sound, narrative, game mechanics, GUIs, programming, etc.) from scratch?    … Expand

    If I didn't know any better, I would have thought that the EA Madden team took over this game.

    Add some ish, take it away, bring it back, update some graphics, and call the game "new," or "different."

    Used to be a loyal buyer for what was consistently the preeminent basketball game, but no more. Haven't bought since 2K17 and won't until major changes are made. I'm cool with Freemium models. I am not cool with paying more money after paying full price for the game.     As for the game itself, it looks like the same game as the past 5 years (is this Madden or something?). Completely controlled by the same set of animations that I saw back in 2K13. A total disregard for the offline modes that do exist. 2K will not improve the game until they are forced to. This is a game for the year 2020, the gameplay should be so realistic at this point that an unaware viewer should struggle to tell if it's a real NBA game. .7/10 is too high of a score for this trash game!! I miss turning my trash Suns into a competitive team, but I will continue to wait in order to send a message.    … Expand

Putting the bugs aside there is the greedy predatory mechanic involving literall casino games to fool players into spending real money. What a disaster of a game.

    This is the worst 2k I’ve ever played. No matter how much time I put into it my character doesn’t make any improvements. I’m a slasher and can’t drive past a guy half a foot shorter than me. The game is literally made to make you not want to play. Park is unplayable and the my career is awful

    Will not stand by and watch EA ruin the industry any more than they already have. Played for a few hours with a friend earlier today and the amount of greed is digusting. The only thing not copy and pasted from past titles is what could be tied into micro transactions. Havent bought an EA title in a few years and after today probably wont again.

Quicksand player movement, casino style micro-transactions, pointless advancements of player storyline that make it impossible to actually play between countless cut-scenes. Thats if you can get through crashes, buggy game play and the now popular 12 min load screens. This is an actual rip off, ignore critic reviews they are all corrupt and paid to rate terrible games with a good review. Trash this one and the rest of 2k games

    WNBA is really fun to play, but it's only available in PlayNow ._.

    **** Myteam. That **** sucks ass in every single way possible.

    It's the best sports game in the market that offers simulation realistic basketball. Microtransactions don't really affect any of your experience and the game has so much depth into its games modes that makes it fun for a while

I truly believe that if they would take out half of the clutter in this game, all of the fake badge progression and gambling odds and most importantly the attribute boosts, this game wouldn't be so broken. Just scrap the whole boosts logic it undermines grinding and building your character when you can basically pay your way to winning. It seemed as if my player played well when I boosted and played like a 60 overall when I didn't have boost. It seemed like buying boost activates your stats, and if not equipped your stats are actually worse. I honestly think the overall they show us is actually a false representation of what your player truly is rated.the faulty movent mechanics and go back to how it was in 2k19. Update the atmosphere in the park, atleast the things we see in high volume. We would rather have a new environment or several world's to play in, a la NBA Streets, Streets 2.… Expand

    The badges are dumb, quick draw is such a **** badge, it is a badge that makes u shoot the ball the quicker. Flexible release should be removed because you need it in order to make full white releases. Tje servers suck, a **** ton of glitches, and horrible face scan. 2k18 had a better launch than this

Play now online is EXACTLY like 2k19, Waste of money. I dunno why I buy this trash every year this was my last unless all microtransactions are removed.

    Yes, it may have some improvements on graphics here and there, but it is a yearly game, it is supposed to have them, so not really a step up on the game itself, plus those thrown-in-the-face micro transactions are just a low blow.

    These people have to be stopped. For the love of all that is holy do not buy this game. It’s a roster update to 2k19 except with a casino simulator. And it breaks. Overheated my ps4 on menu screens. Just buy NBA 2k11 for $1 out of a dump bin and make your own players, that’s your only option as a basketball fan.

    In addition they have a disgusting form of legit gambling in their game while advertising their game to kids and young teenager.

    dont buy the game for 60$, dont buy it for 20$, honestly you should not even play it for free, just pick up 2k19 for cheap and you will have a much better experince

    This game is like a slap to every gamers face. 2k just showed us that no matter what we do, the cases we file to the government or get law involved. Greedy companies like EA, 2k are here to stay.

    The game has many features but unfortunately to access most you have to dish out ridiculous amounts of money, and in most cases pray you get something of value in return. The more time you spend playing the game the less basketball you get to experience in this add/micro transaction filled mess for which players have already had to dish out 60$. Its an absolute disgrace.

    Yet another poor entry into the NBA 2k series this time coming with even more predatory microtransactions, glitches and bugs that have no place being in a released game in 2020, in addition load times are painful and no real rewards or incredibly slow rewards for playing the game, all aimed at getting players to spend more and more money, the one aspect of the game that works perfectly.

    They keep getting rid of features and replacing them with gambling mechanics. Pay to win, loot boxes, and a straight up casino in a $60 game. While for some reason they get rid of Release timing (Normal, Quick, etc.) in rosters... Sometimes I wonder if 2K is actually a money laundering scheme

I really don't like the fact that you can't even play single player game without connection to server and that connection is so often broken, that it is just unacceptable. And all the greedy with these microtransactions make me sick.     This is an embarrassment to all sports games; including fifa! You spend more time on slot machines, roulette tables, opening card packs and literally gambling then you do actually playing the actual game. It is a disgrace how they are even getting away with this. So lazy they couldn't even change the taskbar logo.

    NBA 2K20 includes fewer innovations than a "copy/paste club", yet manages to still play and feel pretty great. Gambling and microtransactions involved are becoming more and more toxic with each year tho.
