The post-apocalypse has seen its fair share of heroes; unique as they may be, their world is always about survival. In Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, the concept is the same, but the approach makes the journey well worth it. Fans of turn-based combat will want to make sure to add this to their collection.

Put turn-based strategy, stealth and RPG elements on a shaker and mix it all to create an enjoyable experience in a post-apocaliptic world with a challenging difficulty and its own identity. That's Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, a highly rewarding game for those who embrace its mechanics.

A mixture of strategy and exploration... there's a combination you don't see every day. Some limitations with the audio form the only downside to this otherwise great adventure, that manages to convince with intuitive controls and a unique setting.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is difficult, but don't let that get the best of you. It offers a brilliant combination of stealth and turn-based tactics to challenge you. The story could have been better though.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a great stealth tactics game with a wonderful setting. The high difficulty may put some off but it's an experience worth having.

When you consider that Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden came out of nowhere, the insanely polished tactics gameplay and charming characters are absolutely remarkable. If you’re looking for a darkly charming way to burn hours over the holidays, look no further than this apocalyptic hellscape. Who knew that the end of civilization as we know it could be so damn entertaining?

More than just XCOM with talking animals, this inventive strategy game has plenty of new ideas of its own – even it’s a little lacking in replayability.

Though it can be difficult to get through the beginning hours, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a clever, funny, and exciting tactical RPG.

An interesting mix of genres that manages to offer something truly unique, though it's far from being perfect due some failures in its gameplay design.

Unless you’re thoroughly sick to death of post-apocalyptia, you’ll find that Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a charming, entertaining outing; one that gives the turn-based combat genre a much needed shot in the arm.

Elegant design, streamlined but effective storytelling, and expertly executed game systems make the Road to Eden a journey well worth undertaking.

A promising twist on turn-based strategy games, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is more than the sum of its parts. The addition of stealth and ambush mechanics to the familiar turn-based strategy formula, forces the player to think about their approach to combat in a new way. This "Tactical Adventure" is definitely worth the journey.

With an emphasis on stealth and a healthy dose of absurdity, Mutant Year Zero is a unique take on the XCOM formula that is as challenging as it is engaging.

The various mutants met with special skills can all be utilized for specific situations and provide the option to create a well-rounded team. Tactics-wise, Mutant Year Zero knocks those mechanics out of the park. Gameplay inconsistencies and forced grinding can wear one down, however, and keep the title from reaching its full potential. Overall, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is deserving of attention and provides solid entertainment for tactics fans.

A refreshing experience for those who wants a tactical game set in a well-polished universe with interesting scenario and well written characters. Sadly, the user interface is limited and the fights sometimes look a bit sloppy, lacking of clarity and balance.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is an ambitious take on XCOM but it simply doesn't do enough with the established formula to make a worthwhile campaign. That being said, it definitely has some amazing visuals and cool stealth mechanics.

While Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden has managed to build a cohesive system for tactical turn-based battles to take place in, it’s far too difficult for the average player. Hardcore genre fanatics are sure to get a kick out of proceedings, but those looking for a more introductory take on things will find more frustration than progress.

Although it’s got some serious shortcomings, I would strongly encourage the developers to keep going in the direction that they’re going and to deepen and enhance what they’ve already built — this piece of work is absolutely headed in the right direction, it just hasn’t reached its destination yet.

Bearded Ladies cast human actors to play the pig and duck, when there were suitable animal actors available. Minus 2 for social injustice. Full Review »

I bought this game because this genre is one of my favourites and the game play drew me in. I was then pleasantly surprised by the quality of the story, They do a great job of immersing you into their world, with clues spread throughout the game to help you understand what happened to the people that came before. i would suggest to get the most out of the game to play it on the hardest difficulty, it really made me think through my encounters and was a much more rewarding experience. the only down side is its length but the price point fairly reflects that.
