Excellent game, a good mix of exploration and tactical shooter. Love the characters and dialogue. Only got 9/10 as there’s no co-op (yet?) Definitely reccomend this soon to be classic.

Also, its priced to sell at USD 35.00 which reflects the contents of the game spectacularly. Big publishers could learn a thing or two from this game. If you release a game with limited modes and content give us a fair price point with the option of paid DLC, not USD 60.00 and then if you want a mode it is locked behind a pay wall or "season pass".

    PROS
    • Great Story
    • Interesting Characters
    • Addictive Gameplay
    • Beautiful Artwork

    • Lots of room for additional content

    CONS

Unfortunately what the game gets right in game play and a fair pricepoint can't totally make up for the injustice that have transpired here. Bearded Ladies cast human actors to play the pig and duck, when there were suitable animal actors available. Minus 2 for social injustice.

Unfortunately a game from the a company with the worst support ever, in my experience it can take years to get at least a decent answer without resolution. I highly discourage buying any product from them.

The setting is super cool, where mutant scavengers fight for survival while searching for clues and answers about the chaotic world they live in. The characters have charm, there is some funny banter here and there, the artwork is beautiful, and each zone brings something new - maybe a new, tough enemy, maybe just some change in the scenery, like dilapidated churches, marinas, graveyards and stores of what once was the civilization. It's an ugly, yet gorgeous game.

Hands down, one of the best indie titles I have played in a while.

It stands out from many other turn based games by pushing stealth and scouting locations to the forefront. Many reviews are saying this game is "too hard" and dropping the scores for that reason. I think players are finding it too hard because they are just trying to play every encounter like a Mario + Rabbids or XCOM. You really need to scout the locations and try to pick off single enemies silently THEN take on the groups you can't kill silently. Also you don't HAVE to kill everyone right away. If there is a group of bad guys that you can't take out right now just sneak around them and come back for them later. (You'll want to come back later to make sure you find all the items and loot littered around the environments.
The ONLY reasons i'm not giving this game a perfect score are:
It was too short. (I'm playing again on HARD mode to get more time with the title though)
It DOES have a few bugs here and there but none that actually affected game play or broke anything.
Please don't sleep on this tittle. If you think you might like it throw the team some money and give it a try. ($35 )

+ game is not binary divided into exploration and combat mode, so it allows to locate your characters strategically before ambushing the enemy
+ rules of combat are more clear and fair, so I can assume with bigger probability (when compared to xcom) when my shots are gonna hit or miss the target. Flanking and High gronud give real advantage
+ Graphics are very pretty especially when compared to x-com, and artstyle
+ Great artstyle, beatiful locations inspired by early 90' style. Very stylish
+ after playing x-com, I like that this game is more linear, characters are not replacable, and it is more story driven
    + Cool, fun characters
+ Small price like for a value
+ Bought deluxe edition in a different region, yet still can play dlc because it's included on disc
+ Very good production like for more indie game

    - When played on hard difficulty level, it was very challenging in the begining, but after around 60%-70% of campaign, becomes too easy, once you have everything figured out
    - I wish developers would put more work into different skills for every character. Some skills repeat between different characters. Some skills I found pretty useless compared to others

    To be objective, some cons:
    - The only way win the battle on hard mode is exploiting save/load (interesting tactic battles is not about this game)
    - Stealth is very interesting feature, but why enemy always spot me even if I'm behind his back?
    - No way to earn extra cash so I can't buy more medkits and win the battle with healing instead of save/load
    - Actually just kick off the one who was responsible for battle balance & mechanics - battle balance as bad as good the art
    - Super easy fix the game: just let sell unused grenades & mods

If you like turn based games, you'll find this game fun enough to see the end of it. I didn't find anything outstanding in the gameplay. It did it's job. The real issue I have with the game is the narration. Badly written story, they had alot of potential and yet failed to exploit it, leaving us with redundent phrases.

Fallout 3!

This game had the potential to be a 9 or 10 (that might be stretching it). The combat system was great, the story was unique, and it was a change in pace from what I’m used to.....but I never found myself working to find a different gun often or a perk that I didn’t have
If it was more involved and maybe a bit longer, it would be incredible.

If you like X com this is definitely similar to the game play style and you can plan ahead your plan to go in there and ambush the enemies. Good work it's a great game for what it is. Sound and music is good and graphics are good too. My strat is the following:
Must take out the pyro guys 1st. They are the biggest threat or the pods in the expansion that duplicate the enemy because the pyro guys can throw and throw that stuff at you and you don't need that.
Take out the medbots next. They regen enemies and that's never a good thing
Go for the big guys if you can next including that big robot thing that throws fires, and the mini boss dudes
Then I worry about the little guys last the ones that aren't as much as a threat

Always hide up on the car or a building if you can and ambush. This is the best way and if you have a thing that makes your crit higher if your high up or hidden your good at doing an ambush too.

This is certanly not a bad game. Apart from some tolerable nuance it has no bugs, saves and loads swiftly, the gameplay is smooth. If you like the genre you may very well enjoy it, and I would recommend it.
    BUT
    - the overhyped stealth system is really not that mindblowing. What it means in practice: You cannot really afford to confront them head on ever (in ‘very hard’), because they kill you no time so you are circling around their camps until you picked of all of those who at some point walk away from the rest with silent guns, then kill the remaining 2-3 with laud guns. It feels more like puzzle-solving ( like the old Commandos games if you played those ) then strategising, or even worse, just simply observing then executing without much creative thinking.
    - compared to XCOM: far less variety in all aspects ( weapons, character types, enemy, terrain, mission types) far less strategic depth.
    - half of character abilities are useless
    - the story is dull the ‘tiwsts’ are expected the humour is mediocre (at best).
    - playing through is not too long, and don’t really have potential replayability

Summary: If have already exhausted the far stronger members of the genre like Divinity and XCOM, then it could be a decent pick (preferably at a discounted price)

A promising twist on turn-based strategy games, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is more than the sum of its parts. The addition of stealth and ambush mechanics to the familiar turn-based strategy formula, forces the player to think about their approach to combat in a new way. This "Tactical Adventure" is definitely worth the journey.
