    No fan service, no combos, as a female gamer I did not like the girls in mk11 at all. Not one revealing outfit which I found absurd and very out of place from Mortal Kombat. Like I said gameplay is very bad, very very bad. Krystals and unoriginal gear are a hustle. The only good thing is the graphics but cmon

    Considering the existence of MK X - MK 11 is a step back in mortal kombat series. Gameplay is slow, combos are also slow and not such interesting as in MK X. Dark realistic theme in MK X was changed to colorful cartoon for kids in MK 11 and even lots of blood does not help. Character customization in MK 11 is really better than in MK X but the skins unlocking system in MK 11 is totallyConsidering the existence of MK X - MK 11 is a step back in mortal kombat series. MK9 remains as last and also one of the best MK games ever, MKX was fine, but didn't have best roster and sadly MK11 ruined it all. I rather play any 2002-2006 era MK game than 11. These games were way better, had way better looking characters and actually good costumes. Also why would they ruin Skarlet like that? She was my favorite new female character in MK9 and in MK11 she looks NOTHING like in that one. She looks like completely different person. It's not enough that you say "-this is Skarlet". No. She needs to look like one as well. It's like making sub-zero Pink and saying "well this is sub zero now", Doesn't work like that. Not even sure they can fix any of this in MK12. Would they just go back to old looks from MK9 and say that MK11 was mistake? Would they make Kitana White again? pretty sure they wont, so sadly i'm confident MK is over.     Got the game at a huge discount, but this was one of the worst in the series. The skins are nothing more than the same three or four outfits with slight color variations and keep in mind there are almost 30+ per fighter. The game is a grind and the krypt has gotten worse.     This game sucks. I paid $30 (and yes that was the on-sale price) for this **** and what do I get? Riddled with MTXs, grindy as hell, not fun to play, overpriced, I didn't care about the story or characters, I had numerous crashes and the final boss was cheaper than ANY of the SoulsBorne games I played, even on the easiest difficulty.     Been playing for a few days and I have to say it, this is Worst MK in the entire series.
    I still remember when I played the first one in the arcade, and them the others on PS1, 2 and 3.
    Those games had Personality. But with this entry, the series lost all its appeal to me. Same old story, boring new characters, crappy game mechanics (the worst is when you jump, most of the time the AI    Been playing for a few days and I have to say it, this is Worst MK in the entire series.
    I still remember when I played the first one in the arcade, and them the others on PS1, 2 and 3.

    But with this entry, the series lost all its appeal to me.
    Same old story, boring new characters, crappy game mechanics (the worst is when you jump, most of the time the AI reads your imput and walk towards you, and crossups don't work).
    Final story boss is completely wrong (no recovery, all she does is teleporting and spamming).
    About the design, female characters were almost asexualized (no more curves, makeup, all covered in body armors, Sheva looks like a guy), while males kept their stud shapes.
    MK was always an exaggerated game in ALL terms, but now they completely lost it. Another deological/mainstream art direction which is keeping games plain.
    Just look at the unlockable cosmetics section, they ALL LOOK THE SAME. Armors, armors, and even more armors. No more iconic clothing, again, for the female characters. Sonya, Cassie, Briggs...they all look the same. And Frost became just another cyborg ninja.
    Speaking of unlockables, the game inherited the worst of the videogame industry. Loot boxes, in-game currency (extremely hard to farm), microtransaction and loads of equipment which (again) all look the same.
    Injustice 2 was 1000x times better than this.

    This is a premium game full of micro-transactions, this mk11 game is a scam like a mobile game.... You need to grind 4k or more hours or pay 6k dollars to really have a full game. Just a shame.

    but characters skins is poor and repetitive, broken servers , too much focus on competitive mode does not attract other types of players and always online with microtransations and DLCs characters.

If someone beat you at MkX, they were generally better. On Mk11, you may get beat by a terrible player using simple moves. The fatal blow mechanic is the worst mechanic to be introduced with the touch of a button the game rewards you with 30-35% with most players randomly pressing it at any time so you have to watch the terrible cutscenes 100s of times. The game is based for new players and supports spam heavy play styles something which I felt MK has always tried to avoid. The community is toxic with many games ending in teabagging or getting some sort of message saying that you or your gameplay is **** Then most players once you spank them once they will resort to one of the more spam heavy characters in the game such as Sheeva and continue to spam the stomp which is ridiculously good on a casual level. The game is straight up stress even for someone who is trying to not take it that seriously and just have a couple of games. Additionally, 50/50s in MKX were a key part of the gameplay in this game they’re just spammed mid screen combined with players who don’t have the slightest clue what they’re doing makes for a terrible mash fest where the player who luckily makes the right reads will win. But then it got too long and I realized no one cares. Suffice to say, I've been playing the franchise since its debut.

    Like most MK fans, I was hyped for MK11. But then it got too long and I realized no one cares. Suffice to say, I've been playing the franchise since its debut.

    Like most MK fans, I was hyped for MK11. Up until recently, I still was. That enthusiasm has subsided quickly once I actually started to play the game deeply. First, as you can see in a lot of bad reviews here, yes, a lot of fans do not like the political agenda that was injected around and into the game. No matter what your politics might be, keep them out of a product you intend to sell. It's common sense. You want to appeal to the largest number of people possible, not alienate a few, and then proceed to demonize them when they don't agree with your line of thinking. Whether you are a liberal or conservative, your message will upset roughly half the people either way. So avoid it. In the case of MK, the devs responded by saying "please, don't call them fans" when it was pointed out to them that some fans didn't agree with their ideologies seeping into the game.

    Well, I own Mortal Kombat 11 on Steam, Xbox, PS4, and Switch, all last three being the Ultimate version. So yeah, I am a fan... but not a fanboy. Big difference. So you bet, I will review every port I own appropriately.

    Graphics -They are absolutely fantastic, no doubt. This is the best looking fighting game at the moment and the best looking Mortal Kombat game ever made, by far. Yeah, lots of gear customization here, which seems to have become the focal point of this game. But once you start fighting red Scorpions or neon Sub-Zeros, along with some downright embarrassing and nonsensical costumes that are repulsive to look at, I wish the system disappeared forever. Preset skins like MK9 and MKX were the perfect compromise. This is MK, not Street Fighter or Injustice.

    Story - Poorly written, but entertaining nevertheless. I think the visuals and familiarity we have with the characters mask that downside quite well. No? Well, put that plot in a movie with unfamiliar characters outside the MK universe and you got yourself a box office bomb and a laughing stock.

    Sound and music - Sound effects are great. The music is boring, forgettable, and unmemorable, better suited in a superhero-themed game. Get rid of this orchestral garbage and bring back the East Asian undertones and kung-fu atmosphere that was part of the foundation of this franchise, please.

    Gameplay - It's very deep, the tutorial is great, one of the best I have ever seen. Frame data, block advantage, man - it's really something to get into. Makes you appreciate fighting games and how technical they can be. That being said it is slower than MK9 and 10, which bothers some people. I really like the customization of abilities, you can really put your gameplay style and personality into your character.

    Single-player - Making progress is nightmarish, demoralizing, ludicrous, an affront to nature, and everything that is good and decent. It's like EA and Konami got together to make something as greedy and as evil as possible. It's disgusting. I like to dive deep into games, especially Mortal Kombat, just really doing everything the game has to offer. Here, the only things being offered are frustration and despair. I'm talking about the grinding, of course. This should be called a "working for Netherrealm simulator" - a taste of what crunching might feel like, except you're paying, instead of getting paid. Let this sink in: people actually use a turbo controller exploit and the AI to play the game for them and make progress. It's the only way unless you abandon all life outside this game.

    This game is like a greedy pig of a mobile game. It absolutely destroys an otherwise near perfect MK entry. I cannot begin to tell you how sad, hurt, and disappointed I am. For the first time in Mortal Kombat history, there are online requirements. You cannot even enter the Krypt if you are not connected to the MK11 servers. And it's all because the in-game currency can be purchased from them as "Time Krystals", with real money. That's what is all about. Despite the initial deception, this game is essentially a big loot box from hell and I despise it for it. Will I continue to play? Yes, I already spent all that money. But will I buy MK12? I highly doubt that things will revert to what they once were. In fact, it can only go worse from here. So most likely, no. This is probably the last MK game I will ever buy. Unless online requirements and grinding is gone, I'm out.

    PS4 specific - It's the port I'm mainly playing, on a PS4 Pro. Although rendered in much lower resolutions than the Xbox One X version, the graphics still look amazing, and most importantly, as with all ports, it plays at 60fps. Kudos for accepting my MK9 PDP tournament arcade stick.    … Expand

Now they have added Rambo what the heck is wrong with them obviously no amount of therapy will fix what's wrong with them. I took it back & it was only worth 13.00 store credit only cause thats how much Nethersuck has ruined this franchise. I might buy the next MK game when its released but I'm gonna be extremely leary if Nethersuck's name is attached to it. Good job Netherrealm on ruining a perfect franchise with your garbage.… Expand

I will speak for those who did not have the same opportunity that I had to obtain it. I think its parts are ridiculous to sell the game and its contents separately.     There is no: Mileena Rain Smoke Reptile Ermac Cyrax Sektor Goro Kintaro Motaro ...or any boss monster equivalent like Onaga or Corrupted Shinnok. But everyone else is there.     But everyone else is there. This is obviously done so WB can sell the most popular characters as DLC later down the road. It is disappointing as hell, because the Gameplay is solid. However...

    ...despite the great gameplay the game itself is a drag to play. The developers apparently thought they were making a movie and not a game. We are presented w/ this epic cinematic experience that is fine for a week or so. After that, the experience wares off on you and the game is just depressing. It's like trying to rewatch the LOTR Trilogy over and over again - by the time you finish a second viewing you are just exhausted.

    This game is dull and colorless...on purpose. The default costumes are terrible for a reason, as they want users to grind through tedious challenge towers in order to unlock them. Most players wont bother, and will just end up spending the cash to unlock the costume they like...because lord knows nobody in their right minds is actually going to want to play as brown vested Johnny Cage or blue jumpsuit Sonya Blade. It's a despicable tactic to promote microtransactions.

    The real drawback with this however is that competitive play (at actual physical tournaments) are conducted w/ physical copies of the game. This means that everyone is forced to watch brown vest Johnny fight blue jumpsuit Sonya...hence its boring as hell. Not only that but Brutalities are locked as well...which takes away potentially hyped moments that could happen during competitive tournaments. It makes the game virtually unwatchable...and that is not hyperbole at all...the game is actually boring as heck to watch.

    Still, the game is fun to play because the gameplay is so good. So at this point my review is still a 7/10...unfortunately the final review score is going to be a 5/10 because of my next complaint...

    ...The Music!

    This music is terrible. It makes me want to kill myself. Seriously, it puts me in a depressed mood. I have to mute it, and play spotify instead. The music for a fighting game is suppose to get the player hyped, and wanting to battle! However, if I decide to chug some red bulls and pop in this game at 2 in the morning for some late night fights...then I just end up wanting to seek a therapist.

    For a franchise renown for it's electronic soundtrack ( this is a perfect time to mention that for some reason the worlds No. 1 EDM artist Dimitri Vegas is in the game as a playable character) this game is just generic orchestra dribble. Which is even more pathetic when you look at the backstage making of the soundtrack. There are YouTube videos that show WB blowing millions of dollars to hire an entire 200 person orchestra to create and perform the various themes - what a waste of money as they all sound like crap the rolls during the end-credits of some low grade sci-fi movie.

    May I remind you that in MK9 they actually hired Skrillex to do Reptile's theme. That this franchise has created multiple gold records for it's techno inspired music. That MK11 itself advertised itself via an EDM lightshow tour (via Dimitri Vegas) that it later used as its own viral television commercial. Heck, the initial trailer contained an original custom song performed by triple-platinum recording artist 21 Savage...

    ...and Dimitri Vegas is still currently touring w/ his custom Mortal Kombat theme song as well. Once again, they actually added Dimitri Vegas into the game as a playable character, but his music is nowhere to be found anywhere on disc.

    The least they could do would be to allow a "classic theme" option so we can listen to some of Dan Forden's old masterpieces, but sadly the Toasty Guy is done no justice at all with the POS soundtrack that made its way into the games final build.

    The music inspires me to NOT play the game. It doesn't get me, nor any other person on the face of this planet hyped to play. All it does is motivate us to turn off the game, and go outside! So, thx for that I guess.

    Although graphics are improved the gameplay really sucks. I love MK series but that's far away from a logic mind. A player can be jumping in horizontal position in kombo hits non stop. Really guys??

    Guess what else, be ready to pay 6000 € for skins and content. Completely ruined the branch!

    I didn't enjoy the game. it is not as hype as the previous one which is MKX. You feel that the game is slow and the characters aren't balanced at all. I feel they have totally missed the mark on Kitana. She is very weak in this game.

    MK 11, i pre-ordered it, played the beta, then the devs opened their mouths. i don't get the anti-consumer movement of today's companies. games launches, i played for about 2 months before i went back to Injustice 2, Soul Calibur and DOA. a year later, i have about 75 hours in this game that is about, what, 3 days. i've tried to like this game. i can't get into it. it bores me to tears. i don't expect it to play like MK X, but man, as a huge MK and fighting game fanboy, i just cannot get into this game. Scorpion plays exactly how i like. Sindel is my girl. Noob is there, and yet the game bores me senseless.

    why are there interactables in stages that weren't there before? why are they helping opponents find ways to escape a fight? not fun. Injustice has them, yes, but they just don't belong in an MK game IMO. plus i come from a time in fighters you had to fight. Tekken. Soul Blade/SoulCalibur. Streetfighter II Turbo. Bloody Roar. Toshiden. Bushindo Blade.

    MK 11 has the best production value sense SNK vs. Capcom. i mean, the last time i was impressed with production value of a fighter before MK 11, was SNK vs. Capcom. Great graphics...but then, you have the microtransactions. you buy Time Crystals, but have to wait for a random set of outfits to appear in the store on whatever day the outfit you want, shows up. and the outfits aren't all that. basically color swaps of the same sets of costumes.

    i personally hate the variation system. what i liked about Injustice 2 was the custom moves. and you can make a loadout of those characters without having a variation system. make complete characters. custom moves i can deal with, but get rid of the variation system.

    the game has to always be online even in single player? you have to rewind time to get ALL the chests. the grinding, i don't mind, but at the same time, i don't play the game enough to care to get everything in it. so i can take or leave the grinding. i played the other day to give it another chance and to figure out what is it about that i like and don't like. and MK 11 is like the hot chick that has nothing left to offer after you've played with her for a while.

    I wrote a detailed review for this when it came out and see that magically that review no longer exists. I feel compelled to add a quick 1 star now as a final go to hell to NRS for ruining my favorite game series and then paying off review sites to remove valid critiques.

    I’ve been playing since MK1 in elementary school and this was the worst in their history by every metric.

La jugabilidad, enserio que jugabilidad más mala han quitado los dashes rápidos y tampoco puedes correr ahora te mueves como mi abuela de 85 años y en cuanto movimientos casi todos los personajes tienen menos que en el MKX como mucho llegan a 20 movimientos los personajes que más tengan en este MK11, por no hablar de los combos, ¿quieres un combo decente y satisfactorio? Pues solo tienes que usar un krusing blow que es muchas veces aleatorio que te salgan porque casi todos se hacen con una contra o un castigo y aveces no sale como te esperas... BRAVOOO netherralm... Con lo bueno que era el X en todo y lo malo que este...     A disgrace of a game, buried behind a pay-wall.

    The game itself is great, good controls and brilliant graphics. Not much to put a negative say on the technical, but you can not justify paying $60.00 for a game, and have tons of content hidden behind a Pay-to-Win and hours of grind to achieve.

    Sad to know that they focused so much on how to monetize the game, screwing the good quality content.
    I didn't complete story mode, I won't be playing MK11 as a casual game like I do very often with MKXL, I won't be recommending this game to anyone and honestly I wish I could be refunded.

    I'm worried about the future of MK and Injustice.

Meaning one day the servers will be taken down and re-purposed for another game, which leaves you with a disk that is komplete krap (not that the game in it's functioning form isn't, but I digress).     I’ve been playing this from launch and I can honestly say it’s average. Don’t believe all the praise just because it’s the newest edition in the MK series. MKX was definitely more fun to play. The only great thing this game has going for it is it’s story mode it’s exciting. The worst part has to be the online play it’s poorly balanced and the game mechanics don’t help. Yeah right.... They're just trying to appeal to feminists in attempts to gain media awareness because they **** up the designs worse than marvel vs capcom infinite did.
    The gameplay, if you can call it that, consists of hitting your controller on the arm rest of your couch untill you're finished reading your book that you've been meaning to read but never had the time to do. They replaced the unique XRay concepts for a bleak Fatal blow that you can only use at low hp. If you're looking for good game mechanics go buy tekken 7 or Guilty Gear cuz mk11 is **** you can win any match by spamming down x triangle but if thats too hard you can always press every button on the controller untill you inevitably win. To add fuel to the fire they added more micro transactions to the game and removed normal costumes, instead opting for the ****ty injustice 2 method of cosmetics instead of designing fun costumes or giving characters appealing character designs, they're trying to make a live service fighting game wich if you're not insane youll know that the words live service never go well with anything entertainment related. To sum this all up, you still fencepunch, animations look like **** cassie cage's face model looks exactly like sonya blade"s, characters look likthey fell on their head when they were born, they kill off scorpion, they barely use the interesting characters in the story, kronika looks like absolute **** Netherrealm is trying to be ea and don't waste your money on this game, go buy a good fighting game or wait for doom eternal.    … Expand

The game is more about cinematic gore and easy 2 hit 30% damage combos (crushing blows) that most button smashers could pull off easily with a little practice. They took all the 50/50 start ups out (besides like 2 characters) and it's a lame poke and footsie war without run. I agree with Shao Kahn when he said "let's make outworld great again". Let's make the whole Neatherealm great again because this game really sucks. What a piece of cinematic PC SJW trash. Throws the dumbest mechanics in the game. This is a very big distance. And throws can counter the pokes. Throws do too much damage. You constantly guess what your opponent will hit. Beat, throw back or throw forward. Fatal strike is a very cheap option. It works badly. Because some characters have a very good, long and fast fatal blow, but someone does not. Scorpion, Jax and Errron have very fast and long fatal blows. It is very difficult to control. And Cetrion and Noob have very slow fatal blows that are difficult to use. In the mechanics of the game too much unnecessary guessing. Again you made a very bad balance. Scorpion is a universal character. He has a very fast teleport. Therefore, you should always guess whether it will cancel the teleport or not. And what he will press after him. Teleport just controls the whole game.     The krushing blows and fatal blows are so unbalanced from character to character. The same few characters, i'm talkin erron and cassie in particular, are used to zone you to death, but they also get fast rush down attacks too! And be in no doubt, you will get teabagged to death by people who beat you with their top tier characters.

    This game needs a balance- FAST. I love sub zero, i'm not giving him up for an OP character. But i am giving the game up until something is done. MK11 promotes dirty play, and with it comes dirty sportsmanship. Poke mashing, throws, jumping all over the place, zoning are rewarded far too much. How can they go from MKX to this rubbish?

    Take Jade, yeah, she's got no combos, cuz MK11 doesn't like combos. Instead she gets zoning tools to keep you at full screen, but she also gets to make herself immune to projectiles! What fun. And if u start creeping in? She got a fast shadowkick and a godlike d2 to put u right back.

    I sound salty i know, and yeah i guess i am. But this game is one of the most unfair fighting games i've ever seen.

    Now what about offline gameplay? Grind much? I want to play other people, not stupid AI over and over again until I can eventually get some brutalities. I don't even care that much about the skins, but if you want them, you're gonna have to earn them.

    Also as I mention brutalities - what the hell happened to these!? The ending screen to the fight is dark and laggy, and makes the brutalities seems pathetically tame compared to the big explosions MKX had. Some of the brutalities don't even work half the time even though you meet the in-match requirements. And you have to grind for hours to unlock them as well.

    Sort your life out NRS, I am utterly disappointed. I'm giving it 2/10. The 2 comes from the graphics. The rest gets a fat zero.    … Expand

    Thats all the characters even with dlc? There should be a lot more characters. Where is Smoke, Rain, Tremor? I’ve played since the first but if you don’t bring back Smoke, not Triborg, I’m done.

However the Towers of Time is some of the most frustrating grindwall activities I've ever done, I don't think I've seen a more clear example of a game reading and reacting to your inputs not your character. And that's not even considering the obnoxious modifiers they throw on.

Overwatch gives us good new characters for free new maps for free. Game feels good, gameplay is fun you play together overall its fun.
