This game is just not for me.
I don't like how hard you need to grind for the most smallest of upgrades. Just makes the game progress way too slow for me, at which point it's no longer fun for me to continue playing.

    Monsters are too hard.
Equipment is too weak. They move too slowly.

The game seems dog **** in my early impressions of it, but the main problem here is that it cannot be paused, even when playing solo. I envy people who have such a lack of responsibility that they can commit to playing games without interruption that regularly, but sadly I have a life and need to be able to pause games from time to time.

first of all i think capcom should make an after-story DLC to tell what is going to happen after when the main character defeats the final boss, this way i think story line would end perfectly. and another thing, In my opinion the production team should make the game a little bit more difficult, otherwise players who played over 100 hours are not feeling the game as challenging as they felt at the beginning

While travelling to the “New World”, the Fifth Fleet is attacked by a huge Elder Dragon. After being rescued, and arriving at the base camp, the player fulfils their role as a Hunter defeating a variety of creatures whilst trying to find out more about the beast that attacked their fleet.

Despite this being the fifth mainline instalment in the Monster Hunter series, it is the first I’ve played as I’m generally not a fan of these types of loot based RPGs. With this being ‘free’ as part of the PlayStation collection I thought I’d give it a go, but there was very little I enjoyed here. The game's core loop of crafting appropriate gear to be able to hunt down more difficult monsters is always going to be repetitive by its very nature, but if the gameplay is enjoyable enough this need not be any issue. Unfortunately however the combat is just as repetitive and, regardless of the monster you’ve been tasked to kill, you’ll spend an age hacking away until it runs and you have to chase it before hacking away again. Patience rather than skill seems to be all that is required...

Of course, games like this are all about teaming up with other people, but Monster Hunter World is a let down in this regard as well. Having required the use of a guide to finally work out how to team up with a family member, we were still unable to play any of the story missions together because (for some inexplicable reason) you can’t join each others game until you’ve started a mission and watched any associated cut scenes! After this you can quit and restart the mission with other people, but it’s so time consuming I couldn’t be bothered to do it most of the time.

When all is said and done I realise this simply isn’t the sort of game I enjoy, but based on this evidence, that won’t change any time soon.

I wasn't able to complete the game, but played a few hours and the first few missions before I decided that this wasn't the game for me.

The basics of the story are that you and a load of other hunters are coming to an island to research monsters. There's no notable characters to speak of - everyone you deal with has virtually no background and seem like nameless hunters after a while. After several missions of just hunting monsters in the same map for the sake of hunting monsters, I determined that this is more of an online cooperative monster hunting game than an RPG.

So then we have the combat. I've played the God Eater games, which were supposedly inspired by Monster Hunter games, and the combat in those is bad. I incorrectly assumed that the real Monster Hunter would have significantly better combat (at the levels of Tera, at least).

Combat is sloppy. The main strategy is to keep hitting the monster with whatever attack you have from whichever direction it isn't attacking in. Monsters are slightly more reactive to you than in the God Eater games, though they're still generally nonreactive. They seem like they're attacking randomly or have incredibly slow reflexes, so it's too easy to avoid their attacks. They should just go right for you, but they don't. The battles are long and boring too, with some taking 15 minutes or more, including chasing them when they decide to run away.

Things could get better later on, but with other games to play, and its poor performance on my PS4 pro (it's not a smooth gameplay experience), I decided to put this one down.

But if you don't need a story, don't need an interesting combat system, like tracking and hunting monsters, or like to kill monsters cooperatively online, then this might be the game for you.

Bought as a Multiplayer game, but despite its promise of battling big Monsters with friends, this is barely a multiplayer game at all. You can only join quests with others providing you've already done them in single player, do you basically have to finish the entire 80 story solo to enjoy this game. It's easily the most being single player experience I've ever had. Terrible game.

The game does look great for the most part but don’t let that convince you that this is a good MH title, go play MH3U, MHGenU or MH4U instead, you’d thank me in the long run

It is slow, clunky, and excessive to play. I say excessive because actions done in the game take too long for me as the player to perform. The other aspect of this is the nature of fighting monsters. The fights take too long. Sure, I understand. it is to keep playing playing the game, but the mechanics follow FFXIVARR with their combat. Slow and clunky. It takes too much work to do a simple move like pulling out the sword. The controls are not intuitive. Basically I want to play the game, but I am too busy fighting the controls to actually play the game. I did not finish the game, but I did play enough to give certainty these mechanics are not good enough to continue playing. I am purely talking about this from a mechanical standpoint. I love the character creation and the atmosphere of the game, but the gameplay holds it back to invest time because it is too clunky. Expand

Honestly, if the Low and High Rank portions wasn’t as polished and an incredible experience to go through. This score would be 7/8 margin just because compared to previous games, the rotating event quests, RNG investigations for RNG loot, reduced weapon and quest pool, and less challenging solo player end game. But, with the incredibly constructed world, incredible combat experience, and cohesive experience, the downpoints are more just demands for more content.
