My favourite iteration of the series, after taking a while to tune everything to my preference the game just clicked.
There is a significant learning curve to these games, but once you get it they are phenomenal.
With tons of game modes there are literally 1000s of hours gameplay here, but its up to you to sift through what you're going to enjoy. To be fair, the sheer volume of content

As bad as 2021 is, this game sucks. People argue about whether or not events and game outcomes are predetermined or scripted. Well, they are. The game is almost perfect, but baserunning is extremely broken. Hit and runs are broken, stolen bases are sometimes broken, etc. Some other issues: the AI on easier difficulties is extremely good at hitting fastballs right on the lower corner for home runs, and the AI seems to know what you are going to do (they almost always slidestep when I steal).

what a garbage game. Only a 1 for releasing content every week. Unfortunately the game is still broken. Running is broken. Hitting is broken. I do not think anyone who works at SD studio has every played the game of baseball, which is evident in the game. Will not buy again deleted it within the month.

In my personal opinion, this game was pretty good. I enjoyed the overall gameplay, modes, legends, grind and fun features this game had to offer. My overall rating is 8.2. Of course, there were still a lot of very noticable issues in this game that didn't sneak past the players. #1 - No stadium creator, I know its coming in 21 but it was a bummer having to put our custom team in an existing team stadium. #2 - The overall customization features for creating your team are cool but also a little bit confusing and complicated if you're trying to make your own logos. You also can't put any text or logos anywhere freely on the jerseys. #3 - Not only were animations that we had for over 10 years recycled AGAIN, but catches at the wall and while jogging seemed to make a bit of players break their controller. With lots of easy fly balls being able to drop because of the lazy outfielder who jogs for no reason, and catches at the wall were either to frequent or to rare and also sometimes wouldn't even register an animation to make a play on the ball. #4 - Matt vasgersian may be a beloved broadcaster in the baseball world but its about time he retires from the virtual world, in this game he makes yet another return and with only so many changes to what he says in the booth. #5 - Pitching is very solid in 20 but there are a lot of occasions where you can have the best timing possible on a pitch, only to have sail down the middle for an easy homer. Thankfully, it will be heavily improved in 21 but it was still frustrating to deal with at times in 20 #6 - Road To The Show was still missing a lot of potential in 20, with the mode being very fun at first and then having no real enthusiasim coming out later #7 - Franchise was also missing a lot of features that would be a game-changer, leaving it only fun for so long, it is a still a decent mode, but I expect a lot more from the next-gen versions. #8 - Perfect-Perfect Foul Balls and Lineouts....... Why #9 - Animations for getting a no-hitter, walk-off, perfect game and winning a playoff series and the world series were still the same recycled animations. I don't understand recycling them, we as players love to see different animations of our team celebrating while we ourselves celebrate. Though is also will most-likely be fixed in 21, I was pretty tired of seeing the same old boring animation #10 - Believe me, I understand that I was not the best player at the game, but it seemed like when facing the cpu in moments or other modes I would always get line drives or deep fly-balls robbed at ease by the outfielders, no matter what their fielding and speed ratings were. I don't know about you, but It's kinda fishy when nelson cruz casually jogs for 4 seconds before making a incredible superman catch on a screaming line drive into right. #11 - Please do not ever put your baserunning on automatic, the cpu baserunners seem to always fall asleep whenever they want, and then wake up at the worst time. They are absolutely terrible and you will regret it. #12 - Last but not least, most bullpen options in the battle royale mode in diamond dynasty barely throw one pitch before falling in the yellow in stamina, this is very annoying considering all the amazing hitters you have to face in the mode with only so much you can do before your pitcher is out of energy. And that's it. Those 12 issues are all I have with the game since i'm not nitpicking. Like I said earlier, I do enjoy this game a lot and give it 8.2 out of 10. But I do expect 21 to not only cover these issues but give us potentially the first real 10-10 baseball game since MVP Baseball 05. Thank you for reading. Expand

The game is pretty good and fun to play. The gameplay needs a little work though. My main concern is the lack of changes to RTTS(which is still pretty fun to play) and Franchise.

Great simulator of baseball, but its been the exact same game for the last 5 years. Since The Show 16, exact same graphics, animations, and commentary. Same exact scripted and lifeless RTTS with just a little bit more gear to wear. Just like Madden in that 99% of their focus is put towards the virtual card collecting mode and selling stubs

The online mode, Diamond Dynasty is the main attraction for these games. Build a team and compete against other player’s teams is the basic premise. Each year the same players end up being used on everyone’s team with little to no variety. This is mostly due to the fact that each year there’s specific attributes that are must have’s for hitters and pitchers. If you hitters have no power, vision, and bad fielding, they are useless. If your pitcher doesn’t have a fastball or sinker that hits 97+ and a shallow arsenal of offspeed pitches, they are useless. You’ll be facing the same pitchers every game and pitching to the same lineups every game. Then there’s the way you get these cards. You either grind for hours doing tedious gameplay loops to get one good card or you can just buy them with real money using the in game economy. So either pay to get good cards or play for 100+ hours to build a full team of good cards. The other main mode is Road to the Show. Campaign mode where you create a player and work your way through their career from the minor league to the major league. It’s fun for a while but then you realize there is little to do other than just play the games and upgrade your player slowly. There’s not too much depth into the behind the scenes world of the MLB that you get to interact with. In short, this game has greedy micro transaction “loot boxes” (card packs in this game) and must have attribute system to determine a player’s usefulness. Sports games need to improve and stop being greedy to their loyal playerbase. Expand

Disappointed in the RTTS. Last MLBTS I had was 16 and the difference between 20 and 16 RTTS is pretty minimal. Was really hoping it would add some of the My Player features from NBA 2K. Plus, after getting sick of playing in the same divisions over and over again, I decided to choose who drafted me. Ended up playing in the minors for 3 years reaching 86 OVR...

I think this is a very good game. The gameplay is good. Game looks good. Multiple game modes Like rtts, dd, march to october, franchise and more. Franchise finally got relocation with the dd customization, unfortunately you still can't create a stadium, or chose from generic ones. You can also create your own leauge like an ncaa leauge, and we got all minor leauge rosters and stadiums. WeI think this is a very good game. The gameplay is good. Game looks good. I really do like MLB the Show series but this is the worst one I have played. The substitution bugs when simulating games in franchise mode ruin the entire mode unless you plan to play 182 games. Quick manage is a joke in this verison. You're better off just playing The Show 19.

In my large opinion, MLB strikes right. Surely something great would added, right? Well something was! You can now have leagues for ONLINE mode, which makes playing with friends and hosting events way easier than ever before on the game! San Diego Studios, MLB, and SONY are the best, also allowing custom music to be used like EA and 2K!

If you are a RTTS fan, DO NOT BUY THIS if you have a preferred team. They'll trade you from your preferred team within the first season, won't let you pick. They, like EA and 2K, apparently dislike their customer base. Done with this game, largely done with SONY.

MLB The Show is here again - and besides minor nitpicks and occasional glitches out in the field, I couldn't be happier to be back in this virtual utopia of baseball where players from the past, the present, and even the future, play the best game in the world...Baseball.

MLB The Show 20 presents itself as a great package, improving on most of its gameplay mechanics, including batting and fielding experience. With plenty of game modes, great Diamond Dynasty and online experience, and plenty of new animations it is a significant upgrade of the last year’s The Show 19, and proving itself worthy of purchase, by avoiding to follow the example of copycat sports franchises like FIFA and NBA 2K.

MLB The Show 20 marks another solid entry for the series. New additions to the fielding game are welcome and fans of the sport will find a wealth of systems and modes to enjoy. It may be a bit overwhelming for newcomers, but offers a great range of tutorials to get payers up to speed. There's a lot of game here, provided you enjoy the sport. While it wont make you a fan if you weren't already, it's still the best rendition of the sport you can enjoy from the comfort of the couch.
