In my large opinion, MLB strikes right. Surely something great would added, right? Well something was! You can now have leagues for ONLINE mode, which makes playing with friends and hosting events way easier than ever before on the game! San Diego Studios, MLB, and SONY are the best, also allowing custom music to be used like EA and 2K!

I never really write reviews, but I had to this time. I'm not sure how to explain it, but this show feels better, it plays better, it plays faster. The overhauled hitting mechanics work, for some reason (I am not sure why) the perfect perfect hitting system makes hitting more intuitive, and consistent. I've been playing the series since '09. I didn't make it to the majors as a starter until '11 (HOF difficulty from jump).
I learned how to hit by focusing on the release point & I have taught others too, and the perfect perfect system almost feels as if it was MADE to hit that way. I no longer have to wonder it I got under it too much, or over it. Perfect perfect kills that with the 3 diamonds in the center of the PCI, right away I know where to place the PCI for the type of batter. And for once moving between RTTS and other modes does not feel like your playing a different game when hitting. I'm not sure if they are the same systems, but sure feels like it. In fact, during my early days, I wouldn't play any mode but RTTS because the hitting was so different between the two and I would take days to get back into RTTS hitting. So to keep from being sent down I would only play RTTS.
The new throwing system is taking sometime to get use to, but I see the vision. No longer is the degree of difficulty in getting to the ball ignored, with even routine backhanders offering some difficulty with lower rated fielders. That in mind, the early RTTS grind is brutal with the new system but not cheap. Plus with the ability to import your MyCareer guy between versions of The Show (since PS3) there is really no need to grind, (here that NBA2K?). I started a new guy to see the cinematics and all.
As for the number of HOFers offered in DD, I don't really care about that as I just grind and NEVER buy packs so I never really get many of those players. But DD has tons to do even for those that don't want to play PvP, which is nice to see.
In short this version actually IMPROVES upon the already bullet-proof gameplay and experience of The Show, without a doubt this is the best sports title I have EVER played..... And it ain't even close brah....

So I can't give everything a perfect 10, since games are supposed to be consistently improving... I will say that this is hands-down the best MLB The Show I've ever played. I picked up the series in '14. They've done so much with the hitting and fielding this year. The game feels much more competitive online now. User input seems to matter alot more than it ever has before.

This review is based on how the game actually plays, and not neccesarily on new features. Welp, the show finally returns to its roots and stopped catering to casuals. The days of everyone having a 4 k/9 (pitching stat) innings average appears to be over for now. Everything about this game now takes adequate skill, something this series waned from the past two iterations. The days of everyone having a 4 k/9 (pitching stat) innings average appears to be over for now. Everything about this game now takes adequate skill, something this series waned from the past two iterations. Hitting now feels more realistic, and earned (for the most part). *Last year on my account I wrote how we should be rewarded for perfect timing*.. and the perfect perfect feels great. Fielding meter actually varies from player to player. Outfield animations are still iffy and inconsistent though. It is harder to hit breaking balls now, and the days of not fearing a 99 ovr pitcher is over.

I consider myself a competitive mlb the show online player, and the tweaks to gameplay this year makes me happy. More skill less luck.

While the new features this year is lacking, I mostly really just enjoy this series returning to skill based gameplay.

MLB The Show is here again - and besides minor nitpicks and occasional glitches out in the field, I couldn't be happier to be back in this virtual utopia of baseball where players from the past, the present, and even the future, play the best game in the world...Baseball.

Here comes the last exclusive MLB for PS4, the last because the 2021 version will become multiplatform. And apparently Chicago Cubs player Javier Báez will have his face on the cover of MLB The Show 20.

Let's start with the news. Minor League Baseball has been fully licensed under the names real players. The Team Editor and The Logo Editor also switched to Franchise mode, which in previous versions was exclusive Diamond Dynasty. Of course, the gameplay received some minor improvements, as well as the game became more realistic. This is noticeable when defensive team players try to catch a ball (when hit by the attacking team). The more, the better.

For those who know little about this sport, the rules of baseball are few, but they are difficult to understand, and earning points in this sport is complicated. Doing Home Runs and earning points through baserunning is leaving your hair standing on end. The objective of the attacking team (batting team) is to try to hit the ball that is thrown by the pitcher (defensive team). When this happens, this allows the players to run the bases in a kind of time trial. When we succeed in these time trials, we earn points. The goal of the defensive team is to prevent the batters from becoming runners and advancing between bases.

Initially, we always start by defining how our Batting or Baserunning will be for example. Road to the Show... choose a real player or create a player in our style. The usual goal is to play games, increase our player's attributes, and bring the player to fame and glory. Don't forget that sometimes we are forced to talk to a colleague of ours before or after a game. This in will influence the personalities and the relationship with our colleague.

Diamond Dynasty is similar to myClub from PES and FIFA Ultimate Team from FIFA. What consists in forming a team through the packs of cards. For that we need to earn points or make challenges to have a pack (they can also be acquired through microtransactions). Ranked Seasons, Showdown; Battle Royale, Conquest, Tournaments, Moments, Events and Extended Play are the modes that are present in this Diamond Dynasty. I confess that I was pleased with the number of modes available here.

Franchise consists of being a coach of a team chosen by us. By this I mean we can simulate games (Quick manage or Manage full game) or play the game (Play full game, Player Lock or Retro Mode). And Player Lock consists of seeing an entire game through the eyes of a player on our team. But we can also do Scouting, Review Sponsorships, see our finances, Set My Trade Block, Trade Talks and Sim To Draft Day.

March to October that was introduced in MLB The Show 19, is also present in this latest version. In March to October, we will take control only at the most important games and moments of our team. As we progress through the season, the exclusive content of the narrative comments will progressively and dynamically reveal the essential campaign story of our chosen MLB club. We have improved reward opportunities over version 19 for example.

We can also create or search for leagues made by random players or our friends, whether with the MLB Live Roster or the Diamond Dynasty Collection. Graphically, compared to the last one I reviewed (MLB The Show 18), little or nothing has changed. And I noticed that SIE San Diego Studio hasn't changed much when it comes to menus. I confess that commentators could do a lot better, but even that doesn't stop the MLB The Show 20 from being a great game thanks to the gameplay and the number of available modes, and it is totally recommended for baseball fans.

Veredict: Another good shot from SIE San Diego Studio.

In my personal opinion, this game was pretty good. I enjoyed the overall gameplay, modes, legends, grind and fun features this game had to offer. My overall rating is 8.2. Of course, there were still a lot of very noticable issues in this game that didn't sneak past the players. #1 - No stadium creator, I know its coming in 21 but it was a bummer having to put our custom team in an existing team stadium. #2 - The overall customization features for creating your team are cool but also a little bit confusing and complicated if you're trying to make your own logos. You also can't put any text or logos anywhere freely on the jerseys. #3 - Not only were animations that we had for over 10 years recycled AGAIN, but catches at the wall and while jogging seemed to make a bit of players break their controller. With lots of easy fly balls being able to drop because of the lazy outfielder who jogs for no reason, and catches at the wall were either to frequent or to rare and also sometimes wouldn't even register an animation to make a play on the ball. #4 - Matt vasgersian may be a beloved broadcaster in the baseball world but its about time he retires from the virtual world, in this game he makes yet another return and with only so many changes to what he says in the booth. #5 - Pitching is very solid in 20 but there are a lot of occasions where you can have the best timing possible on a pitch, only to have sail down the middle for an easy homer. Thankfully, it will be heavily improved in 21 but it was still frustrating to deal with at times in 20 #6 - Road To The Show was still missing a lot of potential in 20, with the mode being very fun at first and then having no real enthusiasim coming out later #7 - Franchise was also missing a lot of features that would be a game-changer, leaving it only fun for so long, it is a still a decent mode, but I expect a lot more from the next-gen versions. #8 - Perfect-Perfect Foul Balls and Lineouts....... Why #9 - Animations for getting a no-hitter, walk-off, perfect game and winning a playoff series and the world series were still the same recycled animations. I don't understand recycling them, we as players love to see different animations of our team celebrating while we ourselves celebrate. Though is also will most-likely be fixed in 21, I was pretty tired of seeing the same old boring animation #10 - Believe me, I understand that I was not the best player at the game, but it seemed like when facing the cpu in moments or other modes I would always get line drives or deep fly-balls robbed at ease by the outfielders, no matter what their fielding and speed ratings were. I don't know about you, but It's kinda fishy when nelson cruz casually jogs for 4 seconds before making a incredible superman catch on a screaming line drive into right. #11 - Please do not ever put your baserunning on automatic, the cpu baserunners seem to always fall asleep whenever they want, and then wake up at the worst time. They are absolutely terrible and you will regret it. #12 - Last but not least, most bullpen options in the battle royale mode in diamond dynasty barely throw one pitch before falling in the yellow in stamina, this is very annoying considering all the amazing hitters you have to face in the mode with only so much you can do before your pitcher is out of energy. And that's it. Those 12 issues are all I have with the game since i'm not nitpicking. Like I said earlier, I do enjoy this game a lot and give it 8.2 out of 10. But I do expect 21 to not only cover these issues but give us potentially the first real 10-10 baseball game since MVP Baseball 05. Thank you for reading. Expand

MLB The Show 20 presents itself as a great package, improving on most of its gameplay mechanics, including batting and fielding experience. With plenty of game modes, great Diamond Dynasty and online experience, and plenty of new animations it is a significant upgrade of the last year’s The Show 19, and proving itself worthy of purchase, by avoiding to follow the example of copycat sports franchises like FIFA and NBA 2K.

MLB The Show 20 marks another solid entry for the series. New additions to the fielding game are welcome and fans of the sport will find a wealth of systems and modes to enjoy. It may be a bit overwhelming for newcomers, but offers a great range of tutorials to get payers up to speed. There's a lot of game here, provided you enjoy the sport.
