    While it was promising as an engine, the game has had an incredible amount of server issues since launch back in March, and has been plagued with terrible patches every two weeks. Zone hitting, which is for experienced players, has been nerfed to the point where it no longer is a usable option for hitting. It seems like the San Diego Studios is more concerned with selling copies to the inexperienced player using an easier setting, rather than taking the advice of its seasoned players. This game is the only reason I own a PS4, in which I will be selling next week on eBay because this game has become a waste of time and money. Don't buy for 59.99. Wait until it goes on sale every year halfway through. Definitely NOT worth retail price.… Expand

    This game needs a serious overhau. This game is trash, meanwhile the Twitter account continues to troll its loyal community. The hitting is unbearable, I'm tired of seeing a good swing time with a pitch down the middle and gets foul tipped. I'm tired of the pop flys I'm tired of the ground outs, I'm sick of this game in general.

    Playing on PS4 Pro. Even high-framerate mode isn't very smooth, the generated character pictures are downright ugly, game doesn't look much better than MLB 2K13, AI isn't that great and it isn't uncommon for them to completely ignore a ball as it slowly rolls by them so a farther away fielder can go for it, you don't have full control of your character so if it doesn't want you to make aPlaying on PS4 Pro. Fully patched, game has been out for months, and still a Horribly coded experience. I would return if I could and sadly this is the only option to play MLB...… Expand

    Will never purchase this game again. The online play never works and I mean never. I have had this game forever and been generously waiting to rate it until they got their stuff figured out. It appears they will never figure it out or don't care enough to. Used to love this game and company but now they are doing the same thing has EA.     The most stupid game in the world, After you win 4 or 5 games in a row It does not matter what you do, You are going to lose 4 or 5 games in a row, Your players become stupid and slow, It's not you who play the game, You completely lose control of the players, Simply frustrating

    They will try and get you with stunning graphics, new ball physics, and a retro mode. All of this is true. One thing you need to know is that this game is virtually unplayable. Since it went live the game servers have not worked, and there is no communication as to what is going on. Google the issues with this game and you will find many issues with server errors and games going to queue. In addition, the game resets progress and fails to record stats and games that is a major frustration among users. Daily the servers crash under load and the community was promised that all of this was addressed. The staff continues to push the in-game purchases that continue to work fine. Understanding that all games have a tough opening week, but we are coming up on 3 weeks with no answers, and the community manager and staff are silent on the issues. If you love baseball, love frustration, and are able to play from 3-7 AM this game is for you.… Expand

    This game is a piece of **** that doesn’t care what you do, or who your players are, often it will give you no chance of winning because it is based way too much on luck. Their pitcher throws three pitches straight down the middle, three outs. You make them chase half a dozen balls out of the zone, foul balls, base hits, and multiple runs. Doesn’t matter who you throw out there, the gameThis game is a piece of **** that doesn’t care what you do, or who your players are, often it will give you no chance of winning because it is based way too much on luck.     I have to give this a three for some awful planning. Every year it's the same, tons of issues. There are some pretty horrendous bugs as well such as fielders not moving when balls are hit over their heads. Many of the same issues as last year that they always promise they will fix but never do. Beautiful graphics this year. Finally a step up which is long over due.     While it’s still got room to grow, what’s here is great for fans of baseball. MLB The Show 17 is a clear step up from 2016 in gameplay, presentation, and overall experience. Some control and commentary quibbles remain, but not enough to detract from what is the best in the series to date, and one of the best baseball games today. As a PS4 exclusive, Xbox players should be envious.

    Changes in physics and AI make the game more realistic and enjoyable, but there are still some issues with AI player decision making that can detract from the final product. Road to the Show mode is still fun with a new documentary twist, but it's ultimately the same mode as last year. The Show 17 is a good title for baseball fans new and old, but don't expect anything mind blowing this time around.

    MLB The Show 17 is still a great game of baseball but one that with each season seems less and less impressive compared to other sports games available. With a lack of competition, it's hard to not recommend. But with each year I'm still wanting to see the team at Sony San Diego push the envelope even if there isn't any competition to force their hand.
