    8.6/10, we're nearing the release of MLB the Show 18 but I have to talk about the great MLB the Show 16, this game was great throughout its entire lifespan.

    Great baseball game. The story mode is a little bit lacking, with almost no reaction to anything other than playing the matches, but the gameplay is solid.

    love this game! its fun to play in all sorts of modes, and its fun to simulate, its even fun to just lay down and watch a game in bed... I wish though they would add every teams old stadiums as well, would be cool to play at torontos exhibition stadium, or a place like candle stick stadium..

    MLB The Show is an amazing franchise. They took my days of playing 2K on Xbox and redefined what a baseball game could be. The gameplay is awesome and can't be overstated. That said, this installment, unfortunately, has brought me somewhat back to reality. The buggy-ness and lack of attention to details was really disappointing.     This game is full of bugs and glitches and that makes it very unpleasant to play. Runners over 85 speed can basically just take 3rd base as they are next to impossible to stop from stealing. The base running controls are slow and cumbersome. I have had base runners run right by a fielder on the base path trying to tag them.     I have had so many issues with this game that mlb road to the show 15 did not have.
    1.I was playing franchise mode and i hit a ball in to the crowd which obviously means foul ball but the right fielder was running towards the crowd and the ball teleports to his glove and counts as a out then i went to replay to make sure i was not just seeing things and in the replay it    horrible game

    2.Whenever you tell a player to sac bunt he will put his bat out and go to bunt to move players into scoring position but if the pitch is a ball he will not pull back the bat but leave it out there and it still counts as a ball even though his bat was sticking out but not the only issue with this but also when i told my player to sac bunt on 3-0 it was another ball so you would think 4 balls that means a walk right? well yes but then my player gets stuck there at the batters box with the bat sticking out to bunt and never moves i cant save the game and leave i cant do anything so i close the game and have to restart the whole game over again.
    3.I have had so many issue with graphics the lighting will go from amazing to complete **** in the same arena match to match
    So anyone that gave this a good score or better score then mlb 15 you need to never review anything ever again thanks bye    … Expand

    This is one of the buggiest games I've ever played. I originally gave this a "5," but each update breaks the game further. If you like to be a paid tester (where YOU pay $60 for a broken game), then this is the game for you.

    Tough to review. Some great new features. Some things (line drive off the pitcher) that have been in the game for years that they haven't taken out and actually become worse. The rosters are awful. Ratings are written as if there is no baseball knowledge whatsoever.

    Vast improvement to pay for play portions of the game. Minimal improvement to RTTS and franchise. Player morale system that is shady (people upset about contracts they just signed, why?). People upset that THEY aren't playing at the level they'd like make their ratings go down    … Expand

Now for the game break down, there are plenty of good mixed with a ton of bad in this game so I will list the pros and cons of the game and let you judge.

Now for the game break down, there are plenty of good mixed with a ton of bad in this game so I will list the pros and cons of the game and let you judge.

    Pros:
    -Battle Royale- Its a fun unique way for balanced pvp I liked this idea a lot with good rewards for long win streaks.
    -Conquest- Another good new addition to diamond dynasty.
    Most of the rest of the game little to nothing has changed. (so 2 new features garnering it a 10/10 score is utter BS).
    Cons-
    -Bugs-O-Plenty- If its your CF not even raising his arm to catch a fly ball, then its you throwing home and your catcher not even tagging the guy out.
    -Baserunning- Not sure how but i feel like your players are even dumber at baserunning in this game then the last. Prime example is I hit a single with a man on first and second but the CPU for some reason had both first and second players dive back to bags on a single.....by the time they could recover it turned into a double play instead of a single. You hit a double and sometimes the man on 2nd wont start to run even to 3rd and has to be done manually most of the time.
    -Cheaters- I'm not sure if they are actually cheating or throttling their connection somehow to do this but i have recorded and reported between 5-10 players that have cheated while playing pvp. Some examples of this are people not even throwing strikes to you but the umpire calling them strikes. (they will be like 2 feet off the plate of even hit you but the umpire will call them strikes). Smashing homeruns but suddenly it lag and then be called an out (this will happen with normal hits as well). You having a player on second base and they just throw to second and he's out(Although the player is clearly standing on the bag).    … Expand

    Excellent game from SDS. Definitely worth the purchase. In spite of what other reviewers have written the servers are working fine after some minor problems at release (which SDS comped players with free stubs and packs). I was very happy to upgrade from MLB 15 to 16. Lots of new features and animations. Plus Sounds of the Show is on PS4 so you can create playlists of your own mp3s in game!

The animations are smoother and more realistic than last year. There are animations and gameplay situations that could use smoother transitions to create more realistic gameplay but these do not detract at all from the single player experience at all. Some of the still rigid and slow transitions in infield fielding and throws to the cutoff man are exploited in by some users in online gameplay. One of the unique features that sets MLB The Show apart from other sports games is Sounds of the Show. Sounds of the Show allow users to set walkup music, home run music and chants for each player in the MLB for a more realistic gameplay experience. The game allows you to import 511 mp3s from a USB into the game's jukebox. This way when I play and feel like listening to music instead of the commentary, which is outstanding, I can listen to a shuffled playlist in game of an set of songs I choose.
    One of the unique features of MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty mode (similar to FIFA's FUT and NBA 2K's MyTeam) is that purchased in-game currency can be used to buy packs AND players. This way if you dislike the gambling aspect of buying packs, you can purchase a calculable amount of "stubs" and purchase the team you want. All modes of the game are entertaining and have high re-playability. The fact that you don't feel like you're forced to gamble in the Diamond Dynasty mode makes it more enjoyable then other games with similar modes. If you're a sports fan and haven't tried MLB The Show then I highly recommend it. There are modes for franchise (many seasons of using a team), single season, Road to The Show (where you create a player to go from the minors to the major leagues). The franchise mode has an online capability which is awesome. You can use real rosters or you can fantasy draft teams with the game's 55 released to date legends. Finally, the graphic detail and the stadiums is stunning. Beautiful recreations of all MLB ballparks and some older parks along with fictional minor league parks give the game a high quality aesthetic experience.

    Great game. Big step up from MLB 15 in terms of animations and gameplay modes. The gameplay is smoother and the game includes new modes that should keep you busy until MLB 17.

    Great game. But the servers are still totally broken after the game has been out for almost a month. Some nights I have to wait an hour just a get any of the online features to work. At this point Sony has stopped even acknowledging the game breaking server issues that plague their release.     Another great entry in the series. After a few patches, this may be the best The Show yet. I am not sure where the other reviewers that state that this is the "same as last year" or "PS3" graphics are coming up with it. A simple look at the game play videos and the fact sheet reveals that these statements are simply false.

    Once again this game has great graphics and solid gameplay, however it's all brought down by how many bugs there are. Given that they release one of these every single year with some minor adjustments, I find it unacceptable that it has so many bugs and glitches. Avoid this one and buy an older one.

    If you play career mode do not buy this game,unless you like sitting on the bench your whole career.my created player has more home runs runs batted in and better fielding percentage and invited to play in the home run derby and play in the all star game but yet still miss have the season sitting on the bench.Whats wrong with this picture?????     Hitting and gameplay is overrated. The only good part is the pitching, but overall, this game was really a waste of money. The fact that you have to hold down the button and if you dont, then it's a check swing. The game is kinda glitchy and you can barely control the player movements. Good graphics, but not good enough to change my opinion.

    The Show and NBA 2K franchises are the BEST sports games year in and year out. Both consistently improve upon the previous iteration with each new release. With updates to roster, graphics, lighting, character models, gameplay elements, etc., this is the best baseball game available. It's a must buy if you are a fan of baseball.

While lingering issues like long menu load times and some frame rate like to say hi, the gameplay is more dynamic than ever.     Online franchise servers are a joke!!! Servers crash all the time and no information from the company. I have a full league of members and everyone is fed up and has either sold their game by now or given up on the game. If you plan to buy for online franchise, do not buy and save you money. This company is focused on one thing, stealing your money!!!!

    I took 3 years off The Show and I must say, it's good to be back. Stadiums look authentic, graphics are crisp, and gameplay is smooth. Starting my 162-game franchise today, wish me luck.

    This is probably the most complete package version of the show since it's inception, period. The graphics are improved even more with the physics based rendering, the dynamic whether ( shadows creep in if you're playing a afternoon game), the super realistic plus over 100 new fielding animations makes the gameplay feel more authentic than ever before.     Great gameplay with great graphics, but there are some BIG problems The game is LOADED with bugs, the new radial graphs are impossible to read, diamond dynasty only works on occasion, the game is 10x slower than last year (I'm not exaggerating), among many more problems. Kind of disappointed.

There's like 1 thousand features i'm sure most people never ever use and the learning curve to figure out what exactly is going on is pretty ridiculous.

    There's also a save file for everything imaginable, including the settings! This is not built as a pick up and play game, and the gameplay isn't all that good. The default batting camera is at a ridiculously low angle, and while I like having options, I don't want to spend 1.5 hours stuck in poorly designed menus trying to get the game setup to something half decent.

    I sincerely doubt Sony San Diego puts much effort into these iterations. They need to go back, pull out a PS2 and play some MVP baseball 2005 and figure out why it's still heralded as the best baseball game ever made. I still play it on my PSP and have a modded version on PC with new rosters. Get it together, this ain't a show anybody should see.    … Expand

    This is the same game has last year. The same animation problems with the catcher, pitcher being hit with the ball, and stealing is so easy. Do not buy it. Just play 15. The new legends are not all in the game offline only in Diamond Dynasty mode. Not worth the money you have to pay to play the new Draft Battle game mode it is not free.

    Mlb the show 16 does it again with amazing baseball sim gameplay. The new additions in Diamond Dynasty are awesome from all the new flash back cards to battle royale! Gameplay is very smooth and even the online gameplay has become a ton less laggy. I just wish they improve conquest mode a little bit. Road to the show is as good as ever, I just can't put this game down.

    I've played a great deal of time between MLB The Show 14 and 15. I loved both of those games and this one is no different. I play it mostly for the Road to the Show mode and I've played about 3 months of games so far in my career. I REALLY like the additions they've made. The biggest turn off on the older games was when baserunning, it was WAY too hard to get back to the base in time. ThatI've played a great deal of time between MLB The Show 14 and 15. I loved both of those games and this one is no different. I play it mostly for the Road to the Show mode and I've played about 3 months of games so far in my career. I REALLY like the additions they've made. The biggest turn off on the older games was when baserunning, it was WAY too hard to get back to the base in time. That was fixed by putting the game into slow-mo as the pitcher begins his move. If you don't react quickly you will get picked off but you don't have to be expecting to even have a chance like the old games. The slow-mo/reaction concept was put into fielding situations as well which I really like. There is also a new throwing mechanic they built it which makes throwing much more than just pushing a button. I am VERY impressed with the game so far and I'm excited to see what else it has to offer.
    There are aspects about the game that may make it difficult to play if you don't know much about baseball. That goes for pretty much all sports games but I could actually see this game being easy to pick up for people new to baseball video games. It is also potentially VERY difficult if you are a veteran. I love this game, it is the very best baseball video game you can buy. MUST BUY    … Expand

    This was my first experience with the show since 2012 and the game feels and plays great compared to the games of a few years back. I enjoy being able to speed through games at an arcade pace if I need to and play an authentic baseball experience if i have the time. There's a bunch of new game modes for me to explore that will keep me busy all season.

    I can't think of a single bad thing to say about The Show 16. If you love baseball, this is a no-brainer. No other baseball game is in the same league as this title. This year's game is a significant improvement over last year's mediocre release. The game is certainly in the big leagues and I would venture to say it rivals NBA2K as the best sports simulation in existence.     This is an excellent game. There has been marginal/massive overhauls to multiple different game modes. If you are not into diamond dynasty, it will change your opinion of the game.

    Another year and another good outing for SCE San Diego Studio. MLB The Show 16 has some great improvements for Road to the Show, but some problems still persist. Baseball lovers will definitely enjoy the game.
