  • Summary: This city has become rotten to the core. You can’t even tell night from day in this hell in which big money dictates everything. And the best way to prove you’re right is with brute force.

Metropolis: Lux Obscura is another entry in the crowded Match 3 market, albeit one with a decadent coating of sleaze and brutality. Fans of the genre will have a fun time while it lasts, but anyone disinterested in such games will find nothing new here. Though it certainly isn't without its merits, namely in its great art, branching pathways and low price, Metropolis suffers due to its unoriginality and short lifespan, which may be enough for some to give this otherwise interesting release the hard goodbye.

YouGame has a lot of potential but it is over too soon, it has like 6 endings. For starters, it has a mini game very similar to Bejeweled. You also can choose some power ups for your main character but it is not well implemented since the game is so short that you cannot level up all of them. I like the comic style and the story but there is no much options for multiple answers (it happens only once). Game could be enhanced with a longer story and a versus option for more replayability. You move along various spots on a city map taking decisions on where to go next. Decision do matter and lead to 1 of 4 story endings. Each story part will have you encounter enemies throughout one or multiple rounded battles which go in a Candy Crush like gameplay. The gameplay itself is simple but surprisingly fun.

Overall the game is not bad just far too short. Maybe they should have combined two of the endings and made them a bit longer to give more a feeling of progress. Between fights you can level skills but skills popup randomly and you can choose only one out of four to levelup each time you battle. But because the game is so short you can barely concentrate on a "build".

In general I enjoyed the game but I also bought it for 3 bucks on a sale which was kinda worth the around 2-3hrs of gameplay I had. So if you like the niche mix of Candy Crush like gameplay, a dark themed comic styled story progress and got some time to smash. This might be the perfect game for you.

The comic-style of the game looks great (and there are lots of cutscenes/images in the game) and sexy.

The gameplay, being some candy crush like thing, might appear a bit disappointing at first, but actually works and is more interesting than you'd first think. Still, ultimately, the gameplay relies way too much on luck, so I can't really praise it that much.

The story is probably the most interesting part of it, even though it's not too good. There are too many things or characters that just appear a little bit too chliche or hard to believe. Still, if you accept the comic-like exaggerations and villians, it's actually an interesting tale. Especially the solution to the 'mystery' was actually done rather well.

Important to mention: The PS4 version of the game is kind of censored. There is basically an normal NSFW version of the game, which shows boobs, sex, but shows nothing explicit, and then there's a 18+ version of the game, which shows male and female genitals and longer and completely explicit sex scenes, so if you don't want to miss out on that, get the PC version (even for the steam version, you can simply download a patch to have everything uncensored). The sex scenes and their animations aren't great, but given how in, for example, eroge visual novels, the sex CGs usually don't move at all, it's actually not that bad. And the art itself, ignoring the animations, is still pretty great.

Speaking of visual novels, this game actually feels like one. Apart from the candy crush gameplay elements, there's lots of story/dialogues in the game and some choices, which lead to different endings... and the different endings also kind of lead to different sex scenes with different girls, so yeah, there's quite a similarity to eroges, though the story here is much darker, grittier and more 'western comic like' than the average eroge.

Sadly, the game is pretty short (max 4 hours for all endings...heck, it's one of the easiest and quickest platin trophys ever), which is why I can't fully recommend it. Still, I had fun with it, and seeing the story slowly unraveling itself was fun. If it's on sale and you like a sexy story, give it a try!
