I experienced the same issue with input lag like two other people reviewing the game. This is not acceptable in an arcade game which should be responsive as it was the case when played on arcade machine.

This is a pretty fun collection of games. The only complaint I have with this version is it lags time to time. I don't know if it does the same when playing this one on PS2, but I would expect it to run better on PS4, especially if the Wii version runs pretty well without a lot of lag. Other than that, the games are great for the most part. My favorite Run and Gun Arcade series.

ok, when i saw this on the psn store for half price, i was like, hey what's the harm, i bought this game. THIS GAME is not upgraded visually whatsoever being a ps2 port, and that what's difficult for me, boxy letters, and stretched screen. the only way to improve it is by adding in the scan lines and/or apply the "art" around the screen which effectively shrinks the screens which slightlyok, when i saw this on the psn store for half price, i was like, hey what's the harm, i bought this game. I have had the problem for whenever you highlight a different character, you get this 3 second long loading screen and it loaded the alternate routes midgame. The cons aside, i will encourage any person to pick up a metal slug game, specifically the anthology because you get more, sure the constant stuff you'll see, but if anything they minor nuisances that shouldn't drive you away from an extremely good and addictive franchise, especially since everything is pretty much in your control and every mistake is your own, from not immediately seeing the enemy bullet travel your way to jumping straight into a missle, very rarely will the game create situations you cannot avoid, very specifically a certain 3rd mission boss from the 6th game. This game have all unique ways of destroying your foes or buildings and unique enemies to boot. These games have a nice multiplayer experience and a challenging single player experience, pick this game up for a nice distraction and arcade experience and better than spending quarters at any metal slug machine. The unfortunate thing is the fact that this is a port of a ps2 version, so that means no metal slug XX, over all it's worth checking out at least. Expand

You probably already heard about the input lag, and its real, and its bad, although it doesnt make the game unplayable.
However, while I understand this is an emulation of a PS2 game, when the PS2 game came out, the series was already 10 years old (25 at the time of this version's release), and there is a lot of slowdowns, loading times, and glitches.
Besides the poor emulation, the game

Besides the poor emulation, the game runs like is running from a DVD...when it isnt the case.
There are dozens of better ways to play these games, they are cheaper (or free), and have been available for decades.
Only reason why I would recommend to buy this collection is if you want the trophies, but good luck with that considering the input lag.

About the game themselves, they are classics, but they are from a different era, they were not made to be fair or balanced, they were made to take away your money at the arcades.
However, the pixel art and the charm they have is legendary, and the reason why they are still so beloved 20 years after the release of the last entry in the franchise.

In short, if you are a mega fan, buy it on a sale.
