Metal Gear's first post-Kojima outing plays fast and loose with the formula, with results that are equal parts brilliant and baffling.

Metal Gear Survive’s team managed to make a game both bad to play and fascinating to examine. Survive finds itself in small moments but is lost to grinding, mindless gameplay.

Metal Gear Survive is here, and it’s worse than I expected...I thought they’d at least TRY and make it feel like Metal Gear, but instead it truly is a derivative, irritating, bog-standard survival game...There was so much rubbish to laugh at I forgot to even mention the microtransactions!

I created this Metacritic account just to review this flaming piece of garbage that Konami has thrown at us. It's official, the Metal GearI created this Metacritic account just to review this flaming piece of garbage that Konami has thrown at us. It's official, the Metal Gear Solid franchise is now DEAD and this game is the final nail in the coffin. Instead of getting a much needed conclusion to The Phantom Pain or even a reboot of the original Metal Gears, Konami decides to pull this stunt as a HUGE slap in the face to Kojima and MGS fans.

This atrocity of a game is a strange tower-defense/Resident Evil hybrid with the Metal Gear name slapped on it. The beta was painful enough to endure and I absolutely refuse to devote any time or money to such an obvious cash grab. Not to mention the stupidly awkward gameplay mechanics, pointless objectives, and meaningless story that has almost zero connection to The Phantom Pain along with NONE of the major characters from that game either. They literally just copy-&-pasted the Afghanistan environment from MGSV which is pathetically lazy and cheap. Zombies are becoming such a tired and cliche concept so of course Konami decided to go down this route, forever tainting this landmark game franchise. Anyone who grew up playing MGS should be utterly appalled and disgusted by this shameless attempt for mass-marketing appeal.

To make matters even worse, you have to pay for extra save slots, the game is filled with micro-transactions, and you have to be online at ALL times to even play the game. This is only adding insult to injury, plus it makes it that much more obvious that they only designed this game to suck as much money out of their consumers as possible. If the game wasn't already bad enough then this was definitely the icing on the cake.

Metal Gear Solid did not need to become like Call of Duty, but I guess the big wigs at Konami decided they needed to milk this franchise while simultaneously destroying it. What's next, Metal Gear Dance Revolution? How much more embarassing can it get? I truly hate Konami for pumping out this piece of crap game, and I'll be saving my money for Kojima's next game Death Stranding which will be BRILLIANT and a million times better than this waste of data.

Konami really missed a huge money making opportunity here by not charging extra for the un-installation file.

You need to pay 10$ to create more characters beyond your first one. Lol paying money for more save slots. A good joke
