Marenian Tavern Story: Patty and the Hungry God is a spiritual successor to the developer’s previous Adventure Bar titles; while no previous knowledge of the series is required, it may motivate those who previously overlooked titles to give them a second look. While I’d not heard of the series before playing Tavern Story, my enjoyment of this game was such that I purchased Adventure Bar Story for 3DS immediately upon completion! While Tavern Story might never reach the level of fandom that the Atelier series enjoys, its entry into the crafting RPG sub-genre should not go unnoticed.

Maverian: Tarven story review and suggested improvements i would like to see if a sequel was made.

The game is a charming adventure and exploration in to cooking.
There is over 660 recipes to craft thoughtout the game with varying incredients earned from farming monsters, completing quests and from in game stores.

The game is highly grindly but relaxing. The problems with the game come from the overly complex menu You can see which ones your missing in the encylopida but it would have been better if each recipe had been filled with blanks so you know if your missing one at just a glance i had to scroll like 20-50 times counting the items to make sure i got each recipe done in the end game.

Eating serves as upgrading and every 20 battles you get a jewel for buying items, reviving party in game over situations etc, i found i used my first jewels to purely get gold and incredients which possibly made the game too easy.

The probelm with the game is however grinding certain species of monster it would be better if the game has a lure for each one an item you could buy that would only make that type of monster appear. Sometimes the text is skipped over when pressing x , I am unsure why could just be me. The story is charming and basic but does what it needs to do.

Toro the god of poverty is a nice mascot character and i would be delighted to see a sequel to this game with the minor improvements. E.g lures for specfic monsters. I would also like a system to custom set my AI of my paterners and a x3 speed option for battles over the 1.5 speed.

Example (I wish i could set one or two of my party members to heal or revive each turn only). While being able to set a spell or attack to repeat on my 3rd member (e.g choose once and it casts it till the end of the battle or runs out of mp).

I wish incredients where counted per quanity gathered not the number of times gathered e.g get 2000 incredients instead of gatheing 2000 times.

Jewels are useful and it would be nice if we could exhchange gold for Jewels so we can get attack totems etc and not make end game cooking almost pointless (as then cooking would still be needed to buy jewels to upgrade our stats).

If you like relaxing music, throw backs to old troopes and pixel art then its a nice game to enjoy. its a game that should not go un-noticed as it does have charm.

Some of the bosses in game made me chuckle (With regards to certain colourful heros). Finally I thought the bank man would show up to steal your cash or ingredients occasionally to pay back the debt, it would have shown the devestation behind repossesion more.
