Jul 8, 2015Magicka 2 is a stellar adventure as long as you have friends along for the ride. The mechanics of the spellcasting system and the gameplay in general are tuned perfectly for multiple wizards, however flying solo will only bring you frustration and fits of rage.
-
Jun 8, 2015After what seemed like 100 add-ons or adventure packs I was hoping for more. Yes: it looks better. And yes: It has been fine-tuned. But in the end you’ll get the same joyful and chaotic spell action where the fun rises analogue to the number of players.

Playstation Official Magazine UKJul 17, 2015The pad controls are something of a compromise, but a good one for the most part. [Aug 2015, p.90]

Jun 9, 2015If you liked Magicka, you'll also appreciate this sequel, but if you hoped for Magicka 2 as a game with many new features you will be a bit disappointed. Even so Magicka 2 is still a funny game and improves those flaws found in the predecessor.
-
Jun 8, 2015It's too flawed to fully recommend, although if you know a few friends that don't mind casting spells at mindless monsters, it'll cast its spell on you.
-
Jun 2, 2015Overall, there is much to commend in this magical blaster – just make sure that you bring a friend.
-
Jun 1, 2015This is a game built from the ground up for co-op, you’ll have more fun with more players. Magicka 2 loses something when tackled in single player.
-
May 29, 2015If you've got some friends who like blowing each other up and don't mind wearing out their fingers punching in spell combinations, you could probably have a decent enough time. If you're looking for something with more depth to it, or are hungry for a solo adventure, Magicka 2 is one spellbook best left locked in the library.
-
May 29, 2015I enjoyed my time battling foes alongside wizard friends new and old, but Magicka 2 takes more effort than most games, and it's tiring.
-
Jun 2, 2015If you’re looking to play this solo, you may want to find a different game to play. This will frustrate you to no ends playing solo, but with a couple of friends, it can be a rather fun game to play.
-
Jul 29, 2015Nobody is shooting for the moon here, just aiming to give the fans more of what they enjoyed. [Issue#163, p.110]
-
Jun 24, 2015In the end, Magicka 2 almost feels like two different games. If you choose to play through the game on your own, you will regularly become frustrated at the game’s control scheme, its random difficulty spikes and overwhelming and unfair nature. On the other hand, if you team up with friends, you’ll get a far more enjoyable experience that doesn’t fix all the game’s problems, but does make them easier to deal with.
