    Very similar to the first Magicka, with a lot of enhanced mechanics. There's fun to be had with this game, and there's a lot of interesting designs to be seen in this game. It's fun to combine spells to see what they would create. There are 4 real outcomes to how you view this game -- first is never playing Magicka, and after trying two, you don't like the formula. Second is you've neverVery similar to the first Magicka, with a lot of enhanced mechanics. There's fun to be had with this game, and there's a lot of interesting designs to be seen in this game. It's fun to combine spells to see what they would create. There are 4 real outcomes to how you view this game -- first is never playing Magicka, and after trying two, you don't like the formula. Second is you've never played Magicka, and you loved it when you played the second one. Third outcome is you've played Magicka, and you're worn out meaning you will not enjoy this game, or the last outcome which is you want more Magicka after playing the first one, which probably means you will really enjoy this game.     Played this game only cause it was free on ps plus and only 2 player coop. It was amazing and fun. haven't laughed playing a game for a long time. It wasn't long thought which I don't mind because it was free but there are dlcs out.

    Anyone, who doesn't like this game is a human-being I can't understand. Fun, old style game with new magic dynamics that rely on the combination of different elements. For me, it is a blast. Thanks, Sony, for giving such a nice game for free. I can't stop playing when I get my hands on it once. And I didn't even try the multiplayer yet, which I'm sure will be double-fun.

    a potentially awesome game ruined by zerg rushes and mechanics that are more self destructive than helpful. awesome premise and controls ruined by exaggerated consequences to the player and not to the enemies.

    Multiplayer 4 over 5.
    Game does not offer something special but shallow hack and slash fun during multiplayer. For single player, well there is simply nothing for interest

    This game is grueling for single player. The problem stems from the fact that the game is designed to incorporate constant player deaths.     This game is grueling for single player. The problem stems from the fact that the game is designed to incorporate constant player deaths. This is hilarious fun multiplayer, but in single player it gets old fast. You have a sprite that follows you around and resurrects you when you die (and then dies itself). If you can cast the revive spell before dying a second time, you can turn this into an ongoing cycle and overcome most anything the game throws at you with enough patience.

    Unfortunately, the key phrase there is "with enough patience." While you can beat the game playing by yourself, it simply is not fun. Each section becomes nothing more than a war of attrition. The enemies spawn and swarm you. You can use many spells to keep them at bay (such as spraying water), but can do little to no damage while doing so. You can do damage, but sacrifice your ability to keep the enemies from surrounding and pummeling you to death in seconds. Thus, your strategy is very often to do as much damage as possible in the few seconds you are alive, die, revive, then continue this cycle for as long as it takes to kill the enemies. It's not challenging so much as it just frustrating.

    Multiplayer is a different story. The game is quite entertaining as long as everyone knows how to revive. With more players, the enemies have multiple targets to focus on. Weaving spells in tandem with other folks is a hoot. Killing other players "by accident" happens constantly, but it ends up being fun rather than frustrating.

    If you intend to play this game mostly multiplayer, go for it. It's great. If you intend to play it mostly single player, just don't buy it. You'll regret playing it even if they paid you to play.    … Expand

    If you only liked first magicka it would be absollutelly best thing you ever played . Its something like skyrim but WITHOUT vampires (rly). Good on PC , but still better on PS4. 10/10

    Sony, what possessed you to give us this garbage for free this month? Awful isometric 90's style PC game. I cant even play it for even one go. The trailer alone put me off.

    If I had a physical copy I would smash it. But I don't, and even for free on ps+ I feel I need a refund because you may has well given us a digital picture of a dog turd this month!

    Epic fail of a game.

    The single-player mode of Magicka 2 is fun... for a while. Then it gets impossibly hard as if it was on MP difficulty without the MP. The monster hordes give you close to no time for creative casting, and when you respawn, you're likely to be put into their midst with almost no time to revive your sprite (can't use the single-press D-pad cast because it's on cooldown after respawn). And ifThe single-player mode of Magicka 2 is fun... for a while. Then it gets impossibly hard as if it was on MP difficulty without the MP. The monster hordes give you close to no time for creative casting, and when you respawn, you're likely to be put into their midst with almost no time to revive your sprite (can't use the single-press D-pad cast because it's on cooldown after respawn). And if you die before you do, it's back to the checkpoint. Even using the 2-combo revive spell by casting is problematic at times because it relies on lightning, so if you're wet, you die. And any level with water makes it possible that you might respawn there.

    There's no difficulty setting less than "Normal", so if you plan on playing solo mostly, you should reconsider.    … Expand

    Das Spiel war ein PS+ Spiel und somit kostenlos, das ist auch einer der positiven Aspekte an dem Spiel.
    Singel-Player ist eher langweilig und nach kurzer Zeit frustrierend.

    This is probably the hardest dungeonbasher i have ever played. Its full of humor for adults wich probably is very entertaining if you dont have any grip of reality. If you like spellcasting so much you can live with this it might be bearable, but for me the difficulty together with the "he he" makes me want to throw the game through the window.

    This game was literally unplayable, every time I tried to make or join a game, the game would crash. I attempted to give it a chance, I tried 5 times to play, every single one, a crash. I don't know how anyone got this garbage to work, but I already gave up on it so I don't care.

    Game-play:The game-play is simple but fun just like the first game with a ton of spells and combinations to experiment and have fun .The game becomes very hard at some point so if you do not like difficult games this is not the game for you.I think is better when you play the game with a friend.The game-play is easily the best part of the game.     Game is fairly fun when you play with a friend, it has a funny story, and the length is fairly good. The game itself has great controls, and it can be fun to mix and match with your buddy.

    I tried the game because it was free with PS+ and I didn't quite like it. The game has good mechanicals and is fun to see what you create by combining different elements and spell techniques, but after a while you realize that you discover what are the most effective and repeat them again and again neglecting creativity.

    Regarding the single player, the respawns drove me nuts sometimes, because there were times when you appeared in the middle of a huge enemie horde and sadly your escape spells were on cooldown... Rest in pieces.

    It has a high difficulty at certain points due to limited space, and that is an added problem, because if you're not skilled enough you'll repeat the same spells as I said above.

    Multiplayer is more fun, but only if you coordinate with your team, if not it's a total disaster, as happened in most of my games :(

    Within the genre it's a good game and I'm glad I could try it on PS4, but so far no MOBA can compare itself to League of Legends or DOTA, as I said, it's entertaining and worthy giving a try if you have PS+. .. It's free, what else can you ask for? :)

    the gameplay is okay and can be fun with a friend, though I would recommend sticking to Diablo 3 in you're interested in this kind of game.

    This game is a masterpiece, when playing singleplayer, the game is VERY difficult and punishing, so people who like a real challenge will enjoy that. However, when playing with up to 3 fellow wizards, the game becomes very chaotic and fun, you look to one of your friends and he's burning a bunch of enemies, you look to the other one, and he's being brutally massacred by a group of orcs,This game is a masterpiece, when playing singleplayer, the game is VERY difficult and punishing, so people who like a real challenge will enjoy that. However, when playing with up to 3 fellow wizards, the game becomes very chaotic and fun, you look to one of your friends and he's burning a bunch of enemies, you look to the other one, and he's being brutally massacred by a group of orcs, you look to the last one and he's killing himself by casting death on his own wizard, honestly, this game is very fun and you can get some good laughs out of it… Expand

Another one, It took almost half of the story progression for me to figure out I could self cast a water shield so I would not get wet when it was raining and then I could cast thunder without problem. These are just examples, but be sure to explore the possibilities, the game rewards you!

    -The story is mediocre
    -Some mechanics can be very frustrating and you can end up dying in a very silly way and starting all over a difficult encounter.

    *This isn't either a pro or a con: don't expect RPG elements, there is no leveling or progression whatsoever. Just the "Magickas" that are a few and you unlock them as the story progresses, but that's it. To me it simplifies the game, specially since the spell system is quite deep already. If you enjoy games like diablo I'd totally recommend it, specailly on sale.    … Expand

    If you liked the original game, you'll also enjoy Magicka 2. Without much improvement, this sequel is much more fun in co-op.
