    The game is so repetitive almost all the missions feel exactly the same. You drive WAY WAY to much it drags on to much. I'm just trying to hurry up and beat it so I don't play it again it just drags on to much. It feels like days gone. The good stuff about the game is the music and the cars are amazing

    This is one of "worst" of the trilogy...story is very good as soon as all the characters and main protagonist but this has too much bug and fps drop sometimes,the song are very amazing and A.I. is very bad and has an amount of activities but its too repetitive but after all its still a good game with a good story.

    I played the first two Mafia games and I think the are genre classics. Mafia III is a bit of a let down. I like the graphics and the interview-style story, but it is repetitive and the AI is just bad. I hope the studio learns from the mistakes. Not bad but just not great. Overall rating: 7.4.

    Story seems good but the amount of bugs is outrageous.
    Even a few years after release the game is very broken and requires frequent restarts to continue playing.

    Great game overall, i think its one of the best games of its genre. It is not meant to be played like a GTA where you can just **** around and interact with everything, its an open world with San Andreas mechanics where you have to conquer districts after districts by taking down mob bosses one by one. The main story and sides stories are both worth playing, and the expansions add a lot of variety and fun to the standalone version. Capturing districts did not feel that repetitive since you fight in different settings with complete unique environment and sometimes some places where you wouldnt expect to fight. You can either go the stealthy or guns blazing. Also, the lieutenant system is very well made, especially how the lieutenants get jealous or angry when you dont give them the district which can lead to different outcomes.… Expand

    this game has to be played on PS4 because the PC is rotten and broken with several FPS drops and lack of optimization.
    Speaking of the game... I don't know why few liked it because I love this game mainly for its brutal combat

    WORST MAFIA IN SERIES
    Same missions all the time. Characters are super boring and main character doesnt fit for mafia world.Open world is not living they are like mannequin. I hope hangar 13 dont make another mafia game cuz they are gonna kill this beatiful game serie.

    Such a letdown. Full of bugs and repetition. Hanger 13 doesn't deserve this license. Also the soundtrack everyone praises doesn't have enough songs so you'll be tired of it by the second hour of play just like everything else in this game

Урезать бы все эти захваты территорий хотя бы в половину и проект можно было бы с достоинством ставить в ряд полноценной трилогии. Однако для большинства игроков, и уж тем более фанатов серии, триквел так и останется провальным. Для меня же эта часть спустя время переплюнула бледный сиквел, поскольку в плане постановки иГлавная весомая проблема триквела - катастрофическая затянутость. Именно она не позволяет мне сильно хейтить репетативность проекта. Спустя время оптимизацию отшлифовали и выпустили ряд очень годных дополнений, которые вносят того самого разнообразия предыдущих частей.… Expand

    Один из самых спорных проектов последнего десятилетия в игровой индустрии, продолжение великой серии игр мафия ждали все, обычные геймеры и фанаты, но когда вышла мафия 3 никто не понял что хотели сказать своим проектом разработчики, Хочется начать с графики, за 6 лет которые прошли с выхода мафии 2 графика стала только хуже, неудачная световая гамма, плохое комбинирование цветов и чтоОдин из самых спорных проектов последнего десятилетия в игровой индустрии, продолжение великой серии игр мафия ждали все, обычные геймеры и фанаты, но когда вышла мафия 3 никто не понял что хотели сказать своим проектом разработчики, Хочется начать с графики, за 6 лет которые прошли с выхода мафии 2 графика стала только хуже, неудачная световая гамма, плохое комбинирование цветов и что самое главное отвратительная детализация и мыло, которое отображается даже на ультрах. Сюжет очень странный в начале нам рассказывают интересную историю, а уже к середине игры всё превращается в глупую мясорубку где ты должен в стиле рембо всех убивать. Физика оружия улучшилась по сравнению с предыдущими частями, теперь приятно стрелять с разного оружия и даже хочется попробовать все виды ганов, но это всё также не дотягивает до проектов современной игровой индустрии. Физика машин отвратительна, машины чувствуются пластмассовыми. Игра оставляет смешанные чувства и как правило негативные, но несмотря на всё мне было приятно провести время за игрой, особенно когда я не думал что это продолжение великой серии мафия.… Expand

    Game with so much potential. One of the most repetitive games i've played. Rinse and repeat. It had some good moments from time to time, but overall the whole game is a waste of time. It has good cutscenes and a good music. This should be done much better because the main character is good.

    My god is this game repetitive and boring. The story to this game is incredibly uninteresting with Lincoln being an okay protagonist. Taking districts and gang operations is how the story is progressed, but there are only 3 mission types. Star des Spiels ist aber die wieder einmal hervorragend erzählte Geschichte, die neben Cut Scenes auch durch Filmschnipsel im Dokumentarstil realisiert wird. Das ist toll gemacht und gibt dem Spiel eine ganz eigene Note. Dass es dennoch nicht mit Open World Spielen von Sony oder Rockstar mithalten kann, liegt vor allem an schnell repetitiv werdenden Nebenaufgaben. Wer vor allem aber an einem guten Story Spiel in einer Open World interessiert ist, der kommt bei Mafia 3 sicherlich auf seine Kosten.… Expand

    Game doesn't feel as open world as it should.
    Lots of bugs.
    Story was Average, gameplay felt outdated, wouldn't recommend Poor man's GTA is the best way to describe this game... play GTA5 instead.

The cars, music, historically accurate weaponry, and the ever existing racial tension, which was at it's peak during Mafia 3's time period. The game goes really big on racism from again Nolan North forming a **** KKK rally to the N word being said every sentence. Enough with all that the cars are very fun to use because they feel real and the car shooting is also very fun my favorite cars are the Sports cars because of how fast you can go. But it’s a shooter after all and it’s not a amazing shooter if it’s not bloody and lord have mercy this game is bloody. Even one pistol shot can splat brain matter everywhere and it’s amazing, the gun play is like a mix of Uncharted with the slow down mechanics from the Max Payne franchise. I haven’t played the other games but this is the one to play. It’s a very fun game of revenge and it has a great style of storytelling but the racism is a bit shocking but if you can look past that you will find a good game that is just a bit too long. Support this game even though unfortunately the studio shut down due to low sales of this game.… Expand

    Let me start with the good things. The technology used seems to be good. Congrats to the dev team.

    That being said, the game has some major issues. First of all the lack of a fast travel system. The amount of driving from A to B is really tiresome.     The next issue is the soundtrack. While the selection is really good, it does not contain enough music tracks or speech bites for variety. Which leads to the next issue. The game doesn't seem to remember the radio station. After I got tired of constantly listening to the same track, I wanted to just have the radio off. This needed to be done whenever I entered a car.

    The worst part are the bugs. Sometimes the game just crashes. Sometimes I had to repeat a mission because it did not trigger properly. Sometimes I got stuck behind bushes which are impenetrable (hitting a bush with a car is like driving against a wall). Lot's of trophies are glitched.....

    All in all the game is a mess. It's almost like the game designers wanted to make a driving Assassins Creed game, just much worse. Some trophies are glitched. Loading a checkpoint sometimes is fast, and then suddenly slow (same checkpoint, e.g. in races). I am glad that I didn't pay the full price. I got the Mafia bundle heavily discounted.

    TL/DR: Awful, Buggy, Boring, Repetitive, Waste of time    … Expand

    I love the story of the game sadly I couldn't finish it because of the game Crash one of the points in every time I try to get into it again it just crashed again so the only way I can beat it now is by resetting my progress to the beginning and I was almost at the ending

Говорят скоро выйдет Mafia: Definitive Edition, дам ей второй шанс! Позже пробовал Mafia 2, прошел часа три, но не зацепило. Мне вообще, почему то, не нравятся реалистические игры.     Что я могу сказать по поводу увиденного, так сказать.
    Ёлы палы, мы имеем клон гта! Только в 60х годах. Но клон очень качественный.
    Во первых в игре очень удобно стрелять. Это её выгодно отличает от той же Mafia 2.
    Ну сюжет так себе, хотя, как я понял, задействован протагонист предыдущей игры. Три группы борются за сферу влияния, а ты с их помощью решаешь свои вопросы.
    Графон порадовал. Выглядит игра очень хорошо.
    Порадовали, как это не странно, покатушки на машине, (ненавижу покатушки), машина тебя слушается, управлять легко.
    Порадовал стелс, да он однокнопочный и требуется доработка ии, но он работает.
    Напрягает однообразность заданий, 99% это убей и принеси, 1% узнай информацию. Всё. Из-за этого игра кажется очень затянутой.
    А в принципе это типичный, крепкий, красивый проходняк.    … Expand

    I really enjoyed the "simulation" driving in this game. It's at times wonky as hell, but overall I did grow to like it quite a bit. The shooting is very basic but it's passable. The hand-to-hand stuff is pretty trash and not robust at all. There are a few cool kill animations in specific scenarios during hand-to-hand combat, but that's about it.

    I like the world visually. It has some decent variety to it, and especially early on is a pretty fun place to be. But this game has the least "alive" world I have ever seen in an open-world game. It's actually kind of shocking. There is quite literally nothing to do in this game outside of missions. And the missions are essentially the same 4 things over and over again. Go here, kill a bunch of goons, and then kill the 'boss' of that area. Go here, collect a car/truck, bring it back. There's also some stealth in this game, and the stealth systems such.

    Back to the completely dead world, Mafia II had this same problem. But at least that game looked lived in. This world feels bland and boring after you play for 4+ hours. Also, in Mafia II there was some decent mission variety that helped hide the fact the game didn't have the most lively world ever. Mission variety does not exist in Mafia III, at least in the base game.

    The base game is pretty rough, but there is some DLC to this game I enjoyed a decent bit. The sky is ugly as hell, and some of the mechanics in previous Mafia games have been removed here. Speeding no longer matters, so there's no toggle to make it so your max speed is the speed limit. Gas in cars no longer matters, the mechanic doesn't exist. Trying to bribe cops is no longer a thing. I'd actually argue non-aggressive cops barely exist in this game. Whereas in previous Mafia games there were 'levels' of aggression the police would come at you with. Not here.

    I'm gonna give it a 5, but even then this is me being generous. Overall I do believe there's a really solid story in this game. Somewhere.    … Expand

    На днях полностью ее прошел уже с длс. Скажу так, длс в мафии 3 это лучшее, что есть в серии мафия 2 (хоть я и фанат мафии 2). Сама игра ведь тоже достойная, просто есть несколько минусов из-за которых игру в народе прозвали худшей игрой в истории. Я думаю, что каждому игроку серии мафия стоит ее пройти, кто проходит на пк качайте мод от гринда. Знаю, что оригинал весь был в багах и былНа днях полностью ее прошел уже с длс. Скажу так, длс в мафии 3 это лучшее, что есть в серии мафия 2 (хоть я и фанат мафии 2). Сама игра ведь тоже достойная, просто есть несколько минусов из-за которых игру в народе прозвали худшей игрой в истории.     Apparently I enjoyed this game much more than most people. I thought it was top notch throughout. The story was good. Graphics were good. The time period environment was great. Nice variety of cars and weapons. There were some very generic open world missions but to be expected from an open world game.     Talvez sea porque lo estoy probando casi 5 años después de su salida pero, se me hace extremadamente aburrido, el comportamiento de los vehículos se siente muy extraño, hay juegos mas viejos que han envejecido mucho mejor en mi opinión.

    I am not racist at all yet when I buy a "mafia" game, I expect to be part of it. Especially the third instalment. I played mafia 1 and 2 because I wanted to be an italian in the italian mafia.     The game overall is a 6/10 I liked the story the story is a clear 8/10 mainly because of the choices that you make Gameplay is 7/10 because you can upgrade your character
    But the missions are repetitive as hell go and kill this racket and collect money so the missions get a 6/10 because there are some good missions not all of them are repetitive

    The main issue with the release of Mafia III is that the game was released unfinished with a lot of bugs and glitches. The Gunplay, Driving Mechanics, Sound Effects are great though.

    The graphics improved and bugs ironed out over time. HDR was added.

    I had a lot of fun and there is that replayability factor and a lot of value for money regarding things to do in the game. 9/10

    When this came to ps plus it sat there in my collection, started playing recently and couldn't put it down. This is a great quality title but be warned there are still some game breaking glitches - I experienced 'freezing' on a cutscenes video multiple times, towards the end of the game the day night cycle glitched and was perpetual night only not to mention numerous times the ai got stuck somewhere prevention progression in a mission.

    Despite this it is full of charm and has some of the best visuals I've seen in a game of this type. Definitely worth your time if you're a fan of the gangster genre and open world gaming. I will advise though -just b line the story mode only the side quests are repeptitous and dialogue only no high quality cut scebes. To be found there.    … Expand

    I enjoyed the mechanics of the gameplay and the story but the game is way to repetitive. I mean people complain about checklist open world games like ubisoft games to be repetitive but to me those are not repetitive and I enjoy those but mafia 3 even I found it way to much of doing same thing over and over

I reached a point where I was so comfortable with all the mechanics (shooting, driving, running, etc...) that I didn't want the game to end. I fell in love with New Bordeaux (New Orleans in the game), the soundtrack (Amazing 60's songs), the cars and the driving, the stealth approach to each encounters, the shooting mechanics, etc...

    Some reviews say the game is repetitive, but it's not. It's true that you have to conquer district after district by running after the bosses and try to hurt their businesses, but I felt that each district had its own identity, its own missions, unique landscape and scenery, that I felt it was different from the previous one and kept the game compelling. I never felt bored, and always wanted to continue to the next area. The story is good, although I didn't like the main protagonist however I understood his motives.

    You can approach each objective the way you want (stealth or all gun). Both mechanics are very well implemented and fun. Shooting has a slow mo feature that is welcomed since a couple of bullet can decimate you. Guns are varied, and you have to complete certain objectives to acquire some of them (some of the best) which is an incentive to keep progressing to acquire a piece of equipment. There are loads of upgrades that you can get and they are crucial to win some missions.

    Likewise, there are very nice and difficult races throughout the city. The more you progress throughout the story, the fastest cars you'll get and better upgrades for your cars that will help you win and beat the highest scores in the more difficult races. You can customise your cars and in the course of the game you'll find yourself driving exotic, upgraded beautiful cars. That's a nice feature since you start the game with slow 60's car, you end up driving 8 valves ultra rapid cars. There is a sense of progression very well implemented. and I kept getting these slow upgrades throughout my 100 hrs playthrough (I took my time cause I loved the game and I beat every mission available).

    This is a game you have to give a chance to. At first, you might not like it, but after 10 hrs of play, it will grow on you and you will get used to all its mechanics and you'll want to progress.
    I loved all the 3 DLC, there are varied, provide a lot of different objectives and even an additional area that has large fields and jumps à la GTA V.

    You'll have to earn money in this game, as most upgrades require you to pay hefty cash to get them, and money is scarce. It is usually found in mafia hideouts when you raid them which gives an additional reason to beat all the objective in each district to get the maximum cash you can get. Weapons also cost a lot of money to acquire as well as car upgrades. You'll never find yourself with an excess of money throughout the game, because of the reasons I mentioned.

    tl;dr Get Mafia III and take your sweat time with it. It is a very good game, with excellent graphics, and very well executed mechanics. It has a compelling story a large and varied map, excellent shooting and driving mechanics and dozens of hours of gameplay.    … Expand

    Finished the story 3 times. Some trophies won't unlock. I really love the story; it's very interesting and eveytime I feel like I want to know what will happen next so I continue to the next mission. But the game missions are repetitive. No fast travel. Glitches still exist even after 4 years. I cant save the game so I can restart from a checkpoint... so yeah. Terrible game

    Pretty cool game but it reminds me alot of driver 2 for ps1 but you get to use weapons. I liked the setting of the story. Could have been a little better if they allowed you to actually use the businesses that you set up afterwards and have gang wars.

    Extremely mediocre. I thought I'd 100% it really quick and delete it because it's the largest game on my HDD. However, I'm almost done with my 2nd playthrough and I have recruited everyone i can and New Boss trophy wont pop. No reason for me to play anymore if the trophy is glitched. I will say it's a much more fulfilling revenge story than TLOU2

    The game is a technical mess and the game-play never lives up to the highs of the story.

    Я не спорю, что у этой игры есть минусы, но лично я готов смотреть на них сквозь пальцы, потому что я раз за разом возвращался в эту игру и получал от неё неподдельное удовольствие. Я проходил дополнения, отстраивал бар Сэмми, занимался травничеством, проходил гонки, завершал побочные задания Вито и Берка (которые, кстати, открывают некоторые детали истории этих персонажей) и просто катался по миру и слушал музыку. Я влюбился в мир, персонажей и атмосферу этой игры, поэтому для меня это 10 из 10 и одна из моих любимых игр, и мне искренне жаль, что её так сильно невзлюбило коммьюнти.    … Expand

    I really wanted to like this game, but the tropes and stereotypes of blacks and whites were too much to build three dimensional characters and the game breaking glitches (getting stuck in the middle of the wall during a shoot out) made me stop playing the game after about fifteen or so missions. Play the first two but this one is like a b movie combined with a bad indie game

Mafia III has been developed with the goal of having an extreme sense of detail. Those small things, like your tires that remain turned when you exit the car, the radio that evolves with the story, etc make it unique.

    However, one first big problem of Mafia 3 is the AI of ennemies. They are quite dumb in combat, and in a few minutes you will have learned everything you need to know in order to never be caught when engaging stealth combat (unless you’re unlucky). AI during stealth is terrible, dumb and totally blind. It really is the dumbest AI ever, I can whisper behind a wall and all the 5 men of a racket would so dumbly come close and get killed in the exact same way. One AI aspect that I liked however is the driving of NPCs. They are reasonably fast where they need to be (unlike GTA) and drive pretty realistically. That is another important element adding immersion to the game.

    To continue on the good, Mafia III is good in the way that it denounces racism by showing how serious sh*t could be a few dozens of years ago. From modern slavery to publicly accepted racism such as no-black stores, it is clear the developers wanted to send a message and I like the fact Mafia III is not scared to show this. That’s also part of what I mean when I say care for detail. Nowadays, too many games don’t dare to take risks anymore by fear of not being politically correct and I don’t think Mafia enters that category.

    Then I can talk about the story, another crucial aspect of Mafia games. Actually, the story is interesting. It is well built, and going after the organization from bottom to top is in the spirit of a good mafia-movie plot. Donovan and Clay are a good duo, and all the main missions are reasonably well written. Unfortunately, the main story (which, taken alone, is quite short) is slowed down by a TON of side missions that are extreeeeeemely repetitive. Each boss you have to take down necessitates that you clean the neighborhood with 4 to 10 things to do beforehand. And that is a problem since it represents 80% of the game. Obviously, all the dialogs coming with those side missions are incredibly fade. It’s always the same. It became atrocious at a point where they would reuse a building for 2 or even 3 different missions. For example, you might totally beat the hell out of an enemy hideout by killing everyone and then you would have to come back to that exact same spot to kill an under-boss, and then magically the building would be full of enemies again.

    Continuing gameplay-wise, I enjoyed the cops in this game. The pursuits can be really epic (not GTA V style where you get shot to death for having just punched someone). I felt some Blues Brothers vibes! I also encountered some random events that happened to be very cool. For example, I once got followed by cops in a friendly camp, and some epic shooting followed, involving my fellow allies taking my side and shooting at the cops. Be warned, police isn’t flawless either though. I’ve experienced many situations where for example, huge shootings happened in the middle of crowded areas with cops remaining not alerted despite being a few blocks away.

    Finally and technically-wise, Mafia III can be as good as it can be terrible. As mentioned, the world feels and looks great, a lot of good work has been put on designing a cool map. Unfortunately, there are way too many bugs. Not even talking about the heavily present aliasing and ghosting which I still don’t mind too much, but it’s more about cinematics with no sound, cars popping totally wrecked, missions not launching requiring a full console restart, NPCs not recognizing my truck trailer, weather staying stuck on night raining, NPCs panicking and leaving their cars at red lights (???), enemies spawning when you’re in hostile zone already, silencer that isn’t silent, etc.

    To wrap this long review up, I would say that Mafia III is still worth it especially at low price. Why? Because of its exceptional ambiance and world, its care for detail, the cars, and the cool (but basic) story. That of course comes at a cost of knowing that skipping side content will be more than needed and that resulting from that, the game will feel short.    … Expand

I personally also found it tricky to keep up with the story, where the informants came from, etc, making the bulk of the game feel like filler.

    The era that the game is set in is very charming. The focus on racism prevalent    I have chosen to give the game a 5.     The era that the game is set in is very charming. The focus on racism prevalent at the time is a controversial yet crucial part of the games setting.
    There are some main good story missions, but the build up to each good mission involves about an hour of grind.
    Death is extremely frustrating in this game due to the time it takes to load back in, making it extra punishing to play on harder difficulty.
    The bugs/glitches ruin the game, despite playing almost 4 years after release. Things like NPCs getting run over in the background of cutscenes, a complete lack of audio in some cutscenes and AI floating in the air after they die.

    Play the game if you like to explore detailed open worlds, but don't expect too much from the gameplay.    … Expand

    Just set Anti-aliasing to Low and activate "sharpening" from nvidia control panel for this game, and the blur goes away, looks good.

In the end GTA 5 is still better but if the have spent more time they would have been better than Gta5… Expand

    You get bored of driving around (there is no fast travel), you get bored of the constant rain, you get bored of using the crowbar 50.000 times for a B&E. The only thing to get you going is the story, and in the end i just skipped the cutscenes. I was bored to death. i just wanted to finish the game to get some Achievements.
    The AI is pretty dumb too. Especially on the civilian NPC´s who literally throw themselves like suicidal idiots in front of your car "to get away from your path". They are standing around like idiots otherwise. God knows how many people i ran over. Also in the end, i did not care to kill civillians. Brought a little more fun to it.
    The Police is even worse, You can speed past a patrol in 130, smash in to cars and clip down posts, they don´t care. Laziest morons in lawenforcement. But you run your car right up their asses they get angry.
    Enemies has the most common sense. but you find the tactics of hiding behind the corner and whistle them to you for silent knife takedown early. You will discover this fast to become dull and repetetive. It is more fun to go in guns blazing. Some take cover, some just run straight at you.
    At least they gave each weapon different balance. Each feels different to fire.
    Cars does not get fun to drive until you aquire sportscars. You can upgrade them in garages, but the upgrades are lackluster, and does so little for your car.
    This is a game for the overly patient gamer.. I myself just played this an hour at the time after a certain point
    It´s boring, This game is a failure on many levels. BUT, the game has a terrific soundtrack. two tracks by The Rolling Stones, who charges an arm and a leg for music licensing. So i guess we know where the money went.    … Expand

    Well, it's not a terrible game, but not good either. There are some nice mechanics, but the overall game is repetitive, and the story, well, the story is just uninteresting. Please, don't waste other people's time, could have invest that 28 hours into some real piece of art. Game deleted!

    An interesting setting, a gripping story, and the nostalgic 1960s feel of the lively open world make Mafia III an enjoyable game despite the extremely repetitive "take down all these rackets" formula, and noticeable performance issues.

    *GRAPHICS*: The New Bordeaux of Mafia III is quite interesting in the artistic section, but graphically it fails thanks to rather bad textures and modeling.

    *SOUND: Without a doubt, the king section. The soundtrack is a bloody wonder, the sound effects are quite good and the Spanish (Spain) dubbing is remarkable.

    *INNOVATION*: Mafia III not only brings few new playable elements, but also loses elements from the two previous games, and that's ridiculous.    … Expand

    Очень понравилась стрельба в игре.
    Огромный потенциал, который разработчики успешно просрали. Одну из интереснейших серий сделали одной из нуднейших в сюжетном плане.

    Its stealth is too repetitive, its gunfights too familiar, and its driving too boring to support anything else that’s going on. Despite how clever it manages to be in portraying the conquest and control of a criminal enterprise, the nuts-and-bolts missions feel like busywork, and it never fully explores the most interesting aspects of its setting. It’s better than Mafia II, but that’s damning it with faint praise.

    It could have been a really great sandbox for one evening. It’s a shame the developers decided to extend it by over a dozen completely redundant hours, because they had fresh ideas for around one fifth of the campaign and made the rest of the game repetitive as hell. [12/2016, p.48]
