The game is **** and relies on animations. EA has **** up madden and is using it for monetary gain. The amount of features removed over the years is so disappointing and ultimate team has never been appealing to real madden players. Are you trying to be an Arcade or Simulation game? Pick a **** lane, EA.

Absolutely pathetic effort. Even from EA. I tried the free trial and fraud out a franchise. I selected the colts to figure out our qb situation and couldn’t even download a draft class. The nfl needs to step in and allow other companies to make nfl licensed games. How is it possible to have less features in this game than in ps2 era maddens. How is gameplay worse than ps2 maddens? The gameplay looks like a bunch of toddlers made it compared to gameplay found in all pro football 2k8 and nfl 2k5. Not to mention the horrendous pay to win and addicting gambling mode called ultimate team. #NFLdropEA Expand

**** stupid how this game is still at 60$. It's almost baffling how EA was able to scam their players with what is essentially the same game released 3 times in a row already.

I am disgusted by this game. The developers don't care about the gameplay they just want money. Just compare this game to NFL2K5 and you will see how bad it is.

It doesn't matter how good you are at the game, the results are either scripted through DDA or dependent entirely on luck. If you're lucky enough to have not wasted your money on this trash heap, keep it that way. I've retired from playing this game in any capacity, including competitively, and will not be purchasing next year's title.

This is the first Madden I've played in a decade. This title has totally fallen from any semblance of grace it once had. The only redeeming quality is the graphics. Literally everything about the game play is horrendous. It's honestly hard for me to believe how poor this game is.

This game is awful every year and it never seems to get better. I’m just going to talk about gameplay. Offense is ridiculously overpowered if you are a good player, there is always a route that’s wide open no matter what play you ran. If you throw an RPO against a run committed defense, it gets picked off. Like what? The defense is supposed to sell out for the run yet get a pick 6? Also, users on defense can literally run 15-20 yards in less than a seconds from a standing motion. The game hardly even relies on skill, it’s more just about what animations you get. The game needs serious fixing on everything, also speed is like the most important stat for wide receivers to get open, when it is not at all in real life. EA needs to stop calling madden a “simulation football game” because it is the furthest thing from that. The game needs a total overhaul when it comes to gameplay. Expand

This is what happens when there is no competition to make a good game. So many features lacking from previous games (games where Madden had competition). Stop buying and start demanding more effort!

From as far back as I can remember, sports video games were all I played. Specific to the NFL I've been playing football games since John Madden Football '93 year after year after year. Specific to the NFL I've been playing football games since John Madden Football '93 year after year after year. Fast forward 28 years later and I'm still in love with football games. Since 2005 I've been playing Madden . Not by choice as I was a 2k Football guy but due to the contract that was signed I began adjusting to Madden because I love nothing more than playing the one sport I truly love. Everything was pretty good! EA was still doing some cool stuff that made the game fun and feeling fresh. Year after year though, I started feeling like I was buying the same copy of the previous year's game. One memory I have is when the Xbox 360 was announced and one of the game trailers was for Madden's "next-gen" game. It looked AMAZING! I was so excited that I begged and begged and begged for the new console so I could play the new Madden. My mother being the amazing woman she is made sure I had the new Xbox the day it was released and the first game I purchased for my new console was Madden NFL 06. Now, I don't remember the game exactly but I remember having a huge sense of disappointment; like I was sold a game that wasn't finished. The reason I reference this specific memory of Madden (although I have many) is thinking about this year's release of the next-gen consoles. When I received my new Series X I was excited to check out the new Madden. Although I felt like I was sold the same copy of Madden year after year with current-gen, I was optimistic about Madden's next-gen version based on the trailers I watched and the screenshots I saw on Twitter. I remember having a similar sense of disappointment as I had when I was a kid. I can't tell you the last time I truly enjoyed playing Madden the way I used to enjoy playing football games but, I'm a 30-year-old man. Video games aren't a part of my life like they were when I was a child. Yet, I still really enjoy sitting down and playing the sports games I love with my friends who live back from where I grew up. But what about the kids who were my age when I bought the Xbox 360. Can you imagine begging your parents for a new PlayStation 5 so you can play the next-gen version of Madden and realizing your parents paid a guy on eBay $1200 so you could play a game that felt like a beta and was worse than the current-gen version you've been playing?! The reason I write all of this is to say... Stop signing exclusive rights contracts and take a % from the companies you allow to use the NFL license. Let companies compete and create innovative products so we all win in the end. When 2K was making football games EA was making a better product. I truly believe the only reason we have something like the Hit Stick is due to that competition itself. Competition is a good thing and I know there is a way to create this without taking a total loss on the money EA pays for the exclusive rights. I won't sit here and try to point out everything that is wrong with Madden as there are too many other people highlighting this for me. Whether it is the endless posts about issues with the game or people like RyanMoody21 ( @ShutdownSafety ) on YouTube truly highlighting everything wrong with this game, enough is enough. Bethesda had to issue refunds for Fallout 76 yet Madden fans are told to deal with the issues and bugs and wait for updates and fixes that never truly come. This is my cry for help. I will end with saying that I've completely stopped playing Madden. Instead, I've found myself installing a PlayStation PC Emulator and playing an updated version of NFL 2K5 and Blitz the League II. Even though there is a drop in graphics, I've found myself having fun playing football games again. I shouldn't have to play a game from 2005 but here I am. NFL - please stop signing exclusive rights contracts with EA . Bring back competition and let the best company win. Expand

First Madden game since late 2000's. Graphics are better (when they are not glitching) but every other feature is lacking. Wanted to play with my old favorite players such as Andrew Luck only to find out he was behind a paywall if he is even in it at all. Sad step back from games back in the day.

The worst most unrealistic sports game I’ve ever had the pain of playing. Nothing makes any absolute sense. Not the animations, the throwing, the tackling. NONE OF IT. How can EA allow themselves to have release such an atrocity. I have played every single madden game there has been. I’d rather play madden 17 than any of the most recent ones honestly.

I barley played the game at all this year, but what I got out of it, it's still the same dang game from 5 to 7 years ago. A lot of bugs, glitches, and just overall isn't enjoyable. I don't get why the NFL is still in a contract with these people because if they saw what was happening with this game, they would pull out ASAP.

Madden NFL 21 is another blatant recycling of last year’s edition of the „simulation“ of the American football. Sadly, most of the modes remained the same. Gameplay received a few minor tweaks, and in the end it still persists as a cash grab not worth anybody’s time.

For NFL diehards, there remains hundreds of gaming hours at your disposal in Madden 21. These same diehards – much like players of EA’s NHL and Sony’s The Show – will be left with the impression they’ve played this game before, however.
