    Its the year 2020 in EA is still updating this game yet the CPU still gets an unfair advantage. The AI for your squad is no match for the AI when you turn the difficultly up. Even if your team squad has a 90 over there 70 percent rating you are in for a world wind of piss off.     EA has been doing nothing to their game since 2016. The madden community is sick and tired of the ignoring of major issues/ lack of features, in favor of the virtual gambling targeted towards children in “Ultimate Team.” For a company that makes billions of dollars they basically release an updated roster dlc with only new features that change nothing about the horrific gameplay issues.EA has been doing nothing to their game since 2016.     i mean what can i say it lacks football fundamentals. its to glitchy and way to reliant on animations they need stop putting some **** features and fix the game. ill be pissed if this goes on to the next gen consoles .

    the series has not changed for the past 6 years. With this game EA is simply asking you to buy Madden 19 with an updated roster. The gameplay is still stiff and broken and god forbid you get tackled in the open field with your QB leading to a **** fumble. I have not paid for a Madden title since Madden 15 and that streak will continue until EA actually changes the game to its core or EAthe series has not changed for the past 6 years. With this game EA is simply asking you to buy Madden 19 with an updated roster. The gameplay is still stiff and broken and god forbid you get tackled in the open field with your QB leading to a **** fumble. I have not paid for a Madden title since Madden 15 and that streak will continue until EA actually changes the game to its core or EA loses the NFL license. The game rewards people who do the same **** 20 times in a row but makes it impossible for people who try to choose the right play for the situation. If madden is going to keep being made, it shouldn’t be by EA. Here’s an example of how bad it is:

Then his guy picks it up and three guys try to tackle him but he breaks through all of them. I get the ball back and guess what? Another fumble. He takes it back bc somehow Juju can now moss Earl Thomas. I get the ball again and I scramble with Lamar and guess what? Another fumble. He turns it around and scores after James Connor jukes our three linebackers at once. It’s tied now. He makes a 56 yard field goal to win it. I hate Madden so much.    … Expand

    Online play is full of the same formations and plays on both off and def. Not very creative or fun. Safeties stand like they don’t know what they’re doing and be prepared for your receivers to drop the ball 70% of the time.

    A game that thrives off of microtransactions instead of user enjoyment is a travesty. The game has fewer features then it did a decade ago and has only increased the number of bugs and glitches. Leaves me feeling defeated, because of gameplay flaws, scripted plays, triggered animations, lack of depth, empty “new” additions, old useless features (challenging plays??), the list goes on - andA game that thrives off of microtransactions instead of user enjoyment is a travesty.     This madden like the last 4/5 maddens is awful! the developers are so lazy they forgot to put the banner up for the patriots 6th Super Bowl at the beginning of the season until damn near October. The defensive backs make spectacular jump ball catches when wide receivers play horrible defense in janky animations. Sometimes the running back just gets hit in the face or stomach unresponsive. This usually happens when the running back is in the best position to make a big play. Or my favorite he just drops the ball. The madden animations are so trash its hard to even be competitive some teams just get better animation plane and simple. The advanced audibles put the players so far out of position if you guess wrong its like your giving away yardage. This game is awful from head to toe. I can not even say it looks good anymore because thats all it has is good visuals of the players physical makeup and uniforms and so on. However overall the game is a tragic disaster with plays that don't work challenge feature and instant replay that doesn't work.… Expand

    I really don't think they extensively test this game anymore. Abilities have made the gameplay so imbalanced and this game has become so animation based its more about knowing how to trigger the right animations rather than making any sort of actual football read.

    If you are rating this above a 5 you’ve most likely never played a down of football in your life. The blocking schemes never make sense the defense moves in unnatural ways and the ai is not smart enough to realize then when you’ve run the same play on them 15 time you’re probably gonna run it again even on all madden. Buy the original xbox and get NFL 2k5. 15 years later and madden is still attempting to compete with a 15 year old game. All of their "new" features are in many maddens on the original xbox and ps2, like the pro bowl. its CRAZY how the hardware we have now is so much better,just awful. there is nothing else to say. simulation football games should NOT have a 'meta'. Nothing is good about this game other than EA sports getting the names of the players right. The new big feature they added this year was Face of the Franchise mode, which got boring after about two seconds. But then, you get to the NFL, and the mode completely falls off. It goes back to the way career mode has been in the past 5 Maddens, without any attention to detail or depth to be found at all. You just play through games until you decide to retire. Thrilling. Gameplay is also god-awful, with frequent bugs and server malfunctions absolutely ruining any kind of immersion or fun to be found. Animations and poor physics also run rampant during gameplay, making Madden feel like one of the most unrealistic football games ever. I have no idea how this game continues to garner praise from critics, it's terrible. Just terrible.… Expand

    All this game cares about is selling MUT packs. It is a sad break from a game that had such a long tradition of success pre Madden 13. Shame

    I only play franchise mode so I will be reviewing only franchise mode so be aware!

    Also be aware I have only played madden 11, 18, 19, and 20. I like Madden franchise mode quite a bit but its the same as 19... and 18... there is almost nothing different about it for the past 10 years or so according to most people, and according to me.     Hadn't played madden in a few years and decided to give it a try because of a few positive reviews.
    What I found were Bugs, canned animations, and a franchise mode that is still behind the previous generations of consoles. Madden is broken and EA has no intention of fixing it. Save your money and buy madden 12 or one of the 2k games instead.

    One of the worst of the Madden franchise installments by far, looking back on the games that went before it, how many of the features the community has been asking for have been implemented? Don't invest your money into a company that treats it's consumer base like cattle and until future Madden on PS5 prove they're listening to us, don't give in to the hype.

    This game is only a patch of Madden 20 and is going for full price.     This game is only a patch of Madden 20 and is going for full price. Gameplay is not good, with the AI being even worse, but EA tries to hide the lack of football logic by having constant big plays and over the top animations, so I guess the gameplay is acceptable if you do not care about simulation or realism in football. Franchise is horrible, no coaching carousels which is present in Nba2k series and MLB THE SHOW (idk about other games), commentary is very repetitive and boring, with the other sports games surpassing madden easily in this category. Franchise still has no career stats tracker showing teams, which is unacceptable in my opinion. While I enjoy online heavy modes in games, MUT is an awful mode meant to milk fans. MUT is a basically a pay-to-win card trading game with RESETS every release, which makes this mode simply cash grab. If your cards stayed with you, maybe MUT would be decent, but that fact alone ruins MUT. FOTF is still glorified connected franchise, with slight improvements, but still no where near as in depth as Road To The Show or Nba2k. KO and The Yard are nice additons and decent side modes, but the bad gameplay makes nether mode worth playing. These two modes are simply in the game to give an appearance of change. Madden 06-12, was more in depth than this game is, and this game is released as the last current-gen madden before next-gen. Madden 12 was released during 360/ps3 days. This game is really a sad story of how what was once a household name for football and a must have game in the 2000's has gone to a dumpster fire. EA doesn't care about this game or the fans, but us, the longtime fans continue to criticize in the hopes of reliving the glory days of madden. EA has abandoned the community that gave rise to a golden age 2005-2009 for a community of youth and causal sports fans who have yet to realize what playing Madden 2006 on ps2 was like. There was once a day where you could create whatever team you wished for, built a team off of realistic gameplay and good trade logic, and when bored, mini camp mode existed for both player progression and for fun. The days of being good at football are long-gone, with the days of cheese and overly gimmicky and poorly tuned gameplay.    … Expand

    Complete trash. Came back to the franchise after 14 years off and it’s gotten worse. Bring back ESPN 2K series. What a shame that a game that’s 15 years older has better physics than the sorry excuse of a simulation football game madden 20 is.

    Gameplay The gameplay is bad. Upgrade from 19 but they can do better, EA has done it in the past. Some plays, especially the HB Stretch and shallow cross work every time which shows it’s core game is broken. Also Wide Receivers can’t run goaline fade routes, they just can’t. If Patrick Mahomes, throws a lot through out the course of a game his arm would be tired, he wouldn’t be able to bomb it 90 yds. Quarterbacks also fumble-constantly, very unrealistically.

    MUT
    I have tried playing this and it could be a really fun mode, but EA makes it a cash grab. To have an elite team, you need to spend money. If you do that at all which I don’t recommend, please don’t spend that much. It could be very addictive, especially if you know someone with gambling addiction, because the concept is to use real money to buy packs, which might not give you a good player. This mode is basically borderline gambling.

    Face of the Franchise: I was very excited when this mode was brought back into Madden but I’m very disappointed. You can only be a QB, you play 2 games in college, and then it’s back to the simple, boring franchise mode. Hopefully they can improve on this mode in the future.

    Classic Franchise
    If you mainly play franchise don’t buy this game. Lacks a lot of depth, you can’t really do anything fun, just like it’s been since Madden 13. It is literally the same exact thing as it has been but with the Pro Bowl, something video games in the 2000’s could do.

    Superstar KO
    This is actually a fun mode. It has an arcade like feel that football gamers have been craving for years. My only problem is that there are more issues with the core game that need a lot of work.    … Expand

    -X-Factor abilities are a highlight of this installment but about 90% of them are worthless/don’t work when you need them to
    -The receiver catch rate is atrocious on All-Madden, which is the only mode realistic enough to play - it’s even worse when you have a created QB and you can’t control the receivers at all so you just have to pray that they don’t bobble it or fumble it
    -Speaking of receivers, their first defense against a contested catch is to volleyball the ball up in the air so one of the 4 DBs surrounding him can get a gift-wrapped pick - this happens maybe once a week in the NFL, it can happen several times per game in Madden 20.
    -The amount of fumbles, picks, and sacks in this game are laughable - it feels like the game has played the “Fumbleitis” card from back in the Madden 01 era when cheat cards existed
    - Defensive pass rushers > elite pass blockers all day- yes, you will be sacked several times a game because the OL will let the DE through uncontested - your QBs X-Factor ability to dodge incoming DB blitzes has never worked either -Your DBs will blow coverage on almost every long conversion attempt by your opponent’s offense - the only way to avoid this is to User Lurk with a defender, which ironically still leaves huge holes in pass coverage
    -The computer opponent will suddenly get a huge momentum shift in the second half when they are losing and go into God mode, I’m assuming so the game stays close - trash QBs will have a perfect passer rating in the second half -You’ll be tasked to put up 400+ passing yards as a game goal against an elite secondary, resulting in you only being able to reach all of your weekly goals only a couple of times a season
    -QB accuracy is a dumpster fire when there is any pressure at all

In an attempt to make Madden 20 fresh and new, EA once again gave us another football game riddled with frustrating glitches, unrealistic gameplay due to an overpowered computer defense and the worlds worst offense, and the recycled MUT online mode that isn’t worth playing unless you want to spend thousands of real dollars and use exploitative game tactics to win.

    I would like to say, that i am new at this franchise. I'm watching the NFL since years but it is my first virtual snap with this game. I really enjoy the gameplay. The "story" is ok but not the best. I like "The Journey" form Fifa more. Overall the game is pretty solid.

    Don't get me wrong, Madden 20 sucks too, but at least they added a lot more features. Madden 20 will be the last madden I buy.

Competing in a scripted game is hard online, because receivers stop going after the ball and db’s will get super powered jumps out of nowhere. New Xfactor just makes me even more angry with it.. For some odd reason, simple things like having the ability to go for it on 4th down is removed, which is downright irritating when you're 4th and 1, down a TD in the 4th quarter on the 50 yrd line, and the AI will instead simulate a missed FG. AI ballsecurity is also an absolute joke after the catch, regardless of who you're throwing to.

    Don't play ULT myself, but like all years it looks like a blatant cash grab dominated by broken plays that are rerun repeatedly.

    Honestly, as someone who has a pretty high tolerance for Madden BS, this game pained me as a 10+ year vet of the franchise.    … Expand

If you run with the quarterback and your over the line you fumble on contact and it doesn’t matter if you have 99 carrying even if your tackled ordinarily, superstar ko is fun but the abilities and X factors ruin it and the broken plays, the game is so buggy and glitchy, also all you really have to do is run y shallow cross it’s so broken, exchibition is the same as last year, the pro bowl was readded which is nice but shouldn’t have been taken out in the first place, the scoreboard was finally changed and it’s better, the entire game looks different finally with color splashes everywhere which it’s nice and all, there is no pregame, halftime, and postgame show as usual because even tho they game the espn license they don’t use it, ultimate team looks different but really is the same just add the abilities used to ad on to players and to get other ones to put onto your players, the franchise mode is better don’t get me wrong but it’s barely changed it looks different with the font but the trade logic is still broken and makes no sense.     Despite the criticism, I actually enjoyed this game more than madden 15, 16,17, 19 I feel it has a good balance in play and is fun! Too many expect too much in a game these days and just like to criticize for the sake of criticizing, yes I agree more still can and should be done but Madden 20 is a step in the right direction and gets my vote. The only thing I dislike is the politicalDespite the criticism, I actually enjoyed this game more than madden 15, 16,17, 19 I feel it has a good balance in play and is fun! There's not much I can say about this pathetic excuse for a game that hasn't already been said, obviously EA doesn't care about it's customers in the slightest, as they have done NOTHING to improve this series over the years. Just the same thing every year, gradually getting worse and worse. But hey, at least they're getting our money, right?

One thing I loved was X-Factors It help me beat My Brother While playing the Patriots. There were negatives such as increased disc space was a big no-no.     I got this one because I hadn’t had a madden game in a while and this one was decent. I finally played the Myteam game mode and although it was good. They almost instantly cut this game off online once the new one came out which really sucked. Had a fun time with it and still do just wish it didn’t end so soon.

I’d like to say it this game specifically Popularized madden these past few years but unfortunately there were certain aspects of the game that just lacked, something new. The announcers are the same as every madden, they show no emotion when big plays happen. Now that itself was OP enough, EA didn’t fix it, they let it play out, then people found out about the Outside/Inside Guru abilities that gives better blocking on those type of runs. EA doesn’t care, they pump out the same game every year with minor changes and not listening to the community and charge $60+. I truly can’t wait until the licensing deal expires. 3/10… Expand

    Madden NFL 20 is still one of the best videogames if you want to simulate any sport but it's very clear that it needs more: more graphics, more gameplay changes, more news in its modes... X-Factor is a good new, but still insufficient to sense that gameplay is different that last year's edition.

    Madden NFL 20 takes a step in the right direction and I really enjoyed the X-Factor additions to the series. While I still think some form of competition would force EA to make more drastic changes, I’m not optimistic with any developers taking a spin with the football genre (maybe the XFL?). If you haven’t caught the pigskin for a few seasons, Madden NFL 20 is the right route to run for this year. With the new consoles coming (most likely) next holiday, I’m looking forward to seeing what EA builds upon from Madden NFL 20 and brings over to next gen. For now I’ll enjoy taking the Broncos to the Super Bowl, while beating up the cover pretty boy, Mahomes (not bitter at all).
