    Dont buy this game. EA, for many years, has continued to sell us the same broken game and I will no longer support this garbage. Madden 20 has less features and worse gameplay then madden 08 which came out over 10 years ago. Ea will continue to sell us the same garbage game year after year until the NFL license is made nonexclusive, allowing other developers such as 2k sports create a farDont buy this game.     EA does the bare minimum to get people to think they've tried and improve the game.

    The menus look different and the animations look cool for the menus. But all it does is trick you into thinking that the game is improved drastically. It's not to say that the game hasn't improved. It did. But when EA makes tiny updates to the game and releases it as a $60 dollar game every year. It shows that they don't care about the player base. They only care when the fans get angry and add little things to get them to calm down, and the cycle keeps repeating.

    Madden NFL 20 gets a "story mode" and it's about as bare bones as it gets. Madden NFL 06, a game that was created back in 2005 and it was the first year they had "NFL Superstars" mode had more content than "Face of the Franchise". You can only play as a QB when in Madden NFL 06 you could be a **** kicker or punter if you wanted to; and the big kick in the balls is after the cutscenes and fluff stuff is done you get booted to franchise and back to the boring "career mode" that Madden has had for the past couple games.

    Franchise continues to get only marginal changes. UI is changed to again think they actually made drastic changes to the mode. The one big thing they hyped up about is the **** Pro Bowl. A game that no one cares and the players don't care.

    Of course Ultimate Team is the main focus for EA because that's their cash cow. They put all the updates into it. I don't care about Ultimate Team, neither do a lot of people; but morons keep buying the stupid packs that will become irrelevant once the next Madden game happens. It's about the equivalent of burning money.

    Gameplay is still...playable. Being an animation driven football game still sucks compared to a physics driven football game, but at least I can find some sort of fun with just the gameplay.

    The gameplay is the only reason why the score is as high as a 3. Without the gameplay being playable this game would've been a 0 or a 1.

    Maybe one day we might get a proper NFL game not made by greedy companies that don't care about the product they put out.    … Expand

    Despite having one of the biggest budgets allocated by EA, Madden continues to offer nothing that warrants a purchase of this pathetic and mediocre title we see released year after year. Nothing has been improved, only a few things added here and there (All of which has little to no replayability. Once you have seen it once, you will quickly lose interest).

    I hate these games now. I hate Madden Ultimate Team. I just want good gameplay and franchise mode.. I played the Beta and my game froze on me. The dropped passes were bad and happened often. Catching the ball isn't like it used to be in older games. The last Madden I liked was Madden 12 and 13. I could throw it to a receiver and have him run to a spot and go up to catch the ball.     This game is so bad I don't know where to start. I don't play MUT because it is just a money grabbing part of the game. This is where the interest of EA is.

    I play madden for the GM/Franchise mode and this part is lacking so much of the old madden games I don't know where to start. There are so few options available and the gameplay is so basic. Defense (especially DB's) is stupid and    This game is so bad I don't know where to start. I don't play MUT because it is just a money grabbing part of the game. The franchise mode is not getting any love of EA because it doenst make money for them. That is why the AI game play is not evolving.

    The menus are all the same, playbooks are all the same, trainings, feel of the game, hell even down to the commentator voice lines this game is literally Madden 19. I kid you not they literally RECYCLED THE VOICE LINES FROM MADDEN 19. Let that sink in:
    A multi billion dollar company can't even pay the commentators to show up in a recording booth during off season for a day to record new conversations. AND THEY WANT 60€ FOR RECYCLED CONTENT. This is just nothing short of absolutely cocky.

    What more is there to say, I liked the soundtrack of Madden 19 so ofc they had to make a garbage one for 2020, naturally. If meaningless mumble rap songs are your thing go for it sure but anybody who likes that type of music, well you're f*cked. I swear to god within the first 10 minutes of playing I took like 6 songs off the playlist. Wasn't a single one in 19.
    They all hype the QB1 career mode as a special feature but you're literally watching cut scenes and playing the god damn game the same way you would in execution except people now have a different colored shirt on.
    At least Longshot had an entire new 7v7 game mode. I'd rather play that and not struggle with the absolutely worthless character editor. Oh did I mention that?
    There's a hideous editor for faces at the start of QB1 where even the Dark Souls character creator makes it easier to create aesthetic looking characters. No kidding: No matter what I tried, my guy looked like a monkey that fell face first into a hornets nest.

    I for one played exactly one hour before demanding a refund for this steaming pile of sh*t. 60€ my ass, that could have been a Madden 19 DLC. There are yearly games that actually improve like the F1 series and then there's EA. Why make a good game if you have no competition? With FIFA they are forced to make good games because PES is looming in the distance waiting for them to f*ck up. But Madden has no direct competition so it suffers from "Never change a running system" syndrome.
    And the worst part: People are going to buy this game no matter what.

    Pro tip: Madden 19 is available everywhere now at a third of the cost. Play that game. It's literally the same game and you get to keep 40€ for other stuff.
    Because trust me: Just because you can now play the Pro Bowl this is absolutely NOT worth it.    … Expand

    Game is so trash. Unfortunately it’s the only football game around. Just got done playing a game online, that almost had me take the disc out and break. The game always has advantages set to one side of the players. I had three occasions where the game cheated In the first half. And led to the other player having a 17-7 lead. It was 4&1, he ran up the middle which I put a all blitz and guess run up the middle. Guess what the middle was wide open. And not only did he get the first down, he got the touchdown. This game is trash and deserves to be thrown in the trash. So glad I didn’t buy and got it for free. Not worth 60$ maybe 10$ game is trash. 0/10.… Expand

    I’m personally giving Madden 20 a 7 because I really enjoy the game overall. Madden 20 is a definite improvement over Madden 19. The gameplay is smoother and less driven by animations. Middle Linebackers are nerfed and it’s easier to pass into tight windows and run. However the QB1 mode is horrendous. I loved playing in the college football playoff but other than that it just sucked.I’m personally giving Madden 20 a 7 because I really enjoy the game overall. The lame attempt at a story line is trash too and doesn’t make much sense. Once you get to the league it’s basically what it used to be other than the scenario generator which is ok I guess but QB1 is the reason I lowered my score. Franchise mode is basically the same but they definitely improved the draft. It is way more interesting to find steals because when fully scouted it shows where the player should be drafted and a hidden dev trait means the player is eventually going to turn into at least an 80 after they’ve developed. MUT is basically the same and so is quick play as well. What really makes the game better to me is the little things EA did to improve it. Hurry up is way better and Superstar Abilities are challenging to activate but rewarding when you do but it’s not too difficult to knock someone out of the zone. It truly feels like you are playing with a superstar. If you enjoy football a lot then you should buy it it’s a fine game but don’t expect anything amazing.… Expand

You’ll still see far too accurate quarterback play, CPU that doesn’t run the ball well and All Pro mode that is not difficult enough and All Madden mode that cheats. Bad safety play and poor programming has defensive backs turning the wrong way or just standing in open space doing nothing. Player movement may be the best it has ever been. Physics are barely present in the game. Gang tackling is basically no more than 3 players. Kicking is still the same. Very easy and gimmicky. Kick blocks are predetermined in a way and do not happen organically through physics and ratings. Long time legacy problem Linebacker lurk is gone! Franchise mode is weak and embarrassing at this point. No coordinators, no injury wear and tear system, shallow scouting, shallow draft, shallow historical stats, QB rushing stats are broken and no 5th year option still on contracts. New scenario engine is a great idea but shallow and doesn’t even work for CPU controlled teams! Gameplanning is worthless and shallow. Another great idea added was fog of war for rookie dev traits but yet another poorly implemented idea. It doesn’t hide all dev traits and the way to unlock is broken at launch. Worst of all though is the draft animation for dev trait is still in the game so even though the trait is hidden the animation gives it away! EA can do better.… Expand

Lack of competition and effort has killed progress in football sports gaming. Agreed. I would score it a "2" based upon this criteria. 2) Madden 20 Gameplay: The gameplay this year is very good. X-factors are enjoyable.    Let's break this down

    I really like the game. The running feels like NCAA compared to last years game and the throwing mechanics feel great. The players on the field feel fast and agile which is something I really appreciate. Still not enough depth in franchise mode.

    This is the best Madden I've ever played gameplay wise. MUT, an over hyped career mode, and a lackadaisical Franchise mode plague the game however. However If your a player like me that only plays online head to head or play now, you'll love it.

    To those whining about face of the franchise mode being 2 games. Are you that naive? The object of the mode is become face of a nfl franchise not college. Fotf mode has multiple seasons. You complete those 2 gms, get drafted and play your nfl career.

No Probowl in 2019 but they bring it back in 2020 and that's the change?     I play MUT and have noticed the slot machine is a little loser this year. Challenges have been tweaked making it fun. It has a star rating the more stars you add the harder it is but more rewards. Game flow feels sluggish at first then after a few games it groves nicely. The double tap receiver button to show fake is a mess to me, specially on quick plays causing sacks. As MUT goes so farI play MUT and have noticed the slot machine is a little loser this year.     Just ignore all of the bad reviews, if you're a die-hard Madden fan then you'll love this game! Each year Madden just gets better and better, though the music is a bit lackluster this year that doesn't take away from the exciting hard hitting action! Get in the game!!!

    I don't understand the hate Madden gets year in and year out. This to me is another solid game. Nothing mind blowing, but also not as bad it is made out to be. It does what it is supposed to do well for me. Be an American football game which is why I buy madden games.

The more money or time one spends, the more the CPU reduces the product's attributes and outright controls the customer's purchased team with specific and advertised attributes and game play. EA also trains agents to lie, or avoid true answers. 1/2 can't speak English right and say they "can't" fix anything, they avoid truth, they purposefully make you wait, they purposefully try to get customers with legit issues to just go away.     Best Madden I have played so far! Controls are stellar. Visually beautiful and engaging presentation. I really do love this game so far. I understand this is much like the past couple of years, but it does get better each year. I recommend you angry reviewers skip a couple of years between versions.     I have been playing madden since madden 15 and i really enjoy the game and the franchise. Madden 20 is a great game in my opinion. The gameplay is even more realistic, the announcement is much better, and the franchise has improved greatly. I am not the biggest fan of the X-Factor aspect of the game. Madden 20 is a great game in my opinion. The gameplay is even more realistic, the announcement is much better, and the franchise has improved greatly. I am not the biggest fan of the X-Factor aspect of the game. I feel like it puts an unfair advantage to the player when playing online against other players. I also think that the story mode in Madden 20 could use major improvement but I feel like it's going in the right direction. I believe that the character customization and the full story as a whole could be improved. For example, EA has also made 2k20. In my opinion 2k has an amazing story mode where you can interact with other players online, train with teams, and the story as a whole is much more in depth. The interaction between the game and player is also much more personal. The aspect of sponsors that you can gain in 2k is also very great. I feel like if Madden was to put that into the game it will give the players more to work for. I feel immersed into virtual football with exciting moments that I can only experience through this game. the new QB1 was very enjoyable however that did not last as it just becomes basic franchise after you get into the NFL. it is very dull. Graphics and movement not changed as they refuse to get a better engine. MUTVery enjoyable offline gameplay as well as online exhibition gameplay.     Overall this is a massive improvement, and I continue to play it. Mainly MUT and creating fun storylines in my franchise modes. Sad thing is that there is no interesting new modes for the 10th year in a row, no basic mouth guards, no change in engine, no improvements gameplay wise besides x factor that could not be added in an update. No new customization with teams or players.

    As a football fan, this is the only game I can go to. The game is okay. XFactors/Superstars are cool but they cannot hide the lack of love and knowledge for the sport that their fans have. Face of the Franchise mode started off so dope. There was some definite cheese talk but I was genuinely liking the story until it forgot about me and forced me to retire with nothing to show for it atAs a football fan, this is the only game I can go to.     While it's not a huge step up from madden 18 (let's not talk about 19, that game was just trash), they did address my biggest gripe: not being able to consistently user defend the pass. Finally, my user controlled linebacker plays the ball in the air, almost always. That alone hugely improves my experience, so I'll give it a positive score.

    This is the fit year I decided to pass on buying this game. Madden lost me over the years with microtransactions and eliminating my ability to pick my own team and play online without some BS card system cash grab. EA is honestly a horrible company and we'd all be better off if they stopped making games.

    Alright, the face of the franchise mode is only 2 games long, I couldn't even have my own last name. Yet another player on the other team does. The gameplay feels a little better when I say a little I mean it. The throwing controls however are worse. I still can't get used to the mechanics they are honestly trash the pump fake is very annoying and causes me to get sacked when trying to throw a touch pass who even uses a pump fake in madden. Double tap the button and pump fake instead of touch pass. With that out of the way the game Is once again like the game before. Nothing has changed but a few minor things. This game is another cash grab and has so much lost potential the face if the franchise is a huge letdown and that is the only reason why I bought it. Franchise is even the exact same besides this super lame scenario engine.

    The gameplay of Madden 20 is close to being great. Momentum feels great in the game, and running in the open field is an amazing feeling, but this is perhaps a little too strong, as swerving back and forth can make the ball carrier nearly invulnerable to tackling. Defense also feels more fun than ever before, with playing in the secondary being much more manageable than in the past, and there are few feelings in gaming more satisfying than jumping a route and seeing "user lurk". However, this emphasis on the secondary can be pretty easily exploited with a quick circle + triangle combo when passes are thrown to get some pretty cheesy user picks. Also, the tackling is often not sticky enough for my liking, and I find myself letting the CPU finishing tackles more than I'd like to admit as a seasoned Madden vet.
    Offense is why we play the game, and it feels mostly good this time around. Quarterbacks feel unique enough that once you play with an elite passer it's hard to go back to a mediocre one (sadly for a Jets fan like myself). The running is rewarding to patient players, as sprinting in the backfield is penalized by the front 7 blowing through not yet established blocks. Breaking off a 20 yard scamper for finding the right gap on a zone concept is one of the more fun parts of this game. The hardest part of the game to balance is always rushing QBs, and this game does a few things to compensate. Fumbles run rampant for quarterbacks on the second level, and while frustrating, after a few games players can adjust to needing to slide and avoid direct hits from good tacklers. Containment is stronger in this game than most, and if there are any notable players on the D-line escaping the pocket is no easy feat. This mostly prevents getting cheesed by some 85 speed quarterback for 200 rushing yards, but the downside is that playing with a non-mobile qb puts you at the mercy of the CPU from getting sacked on half of your dropbacks.
    Now onto why the hate is pouring in, the game modes. Career mode is Face of the Franchise, which is fun, but really only warrants about a season of play before it feels like you've seen what there is to be seen. The college feature is a fun addition, but there are two key problems here. For starters, very few colleges are available to play for, with none being included from my darling, the Big Ten. The college mode is also unavailable outside of FOF, and this feels like a fun extra that could easily have been included without having to rely on weird user created workarounds.
    Connected Franchise is skin and bones compared to what was once a great mode in the maddens of previous generations. Very few options to customize the league exist, little personalization is available to make your adventure feel special. Instead it really just feels like a way to play through a season with your favorite team, maybe as a created player, and make a few trades. The mode has tons of potential, and frustratingly we know exactly what it should look like because we can simply pop in any Madden pre 2015 or so.
    Superstar KO is the new mode of this game, and it's a breath of fresh air. Before the game begins you get to pick out 3 superstars to lead your team, along with a coach who ultimately decides your playbooks and points of emphasis. Then a single elimination tournament is entered, with each win earning another superstar. The mode leads to some pretty decent rewards to be redeemed in MUT, and the strange college overtime like style works very well in the high octane offensive style of Madden 20.
    MUT is a shakedown for money above the $60 you likely spent on the game and I won't dignify it by calling it anything more.
    Honestly the best game mode in this is just the simple head to head online. Connection is usually good, and after a few games you'll likely be in the right skill bracket and play mostly close games. The fact that this extremely simple mode is not a good sign for Madden, but with 2k making a football game next year maybe we can see some competition. But probably not. **** you EA.     This game hasn't changed for the better in a years, even in terms of graphics. The game is glitchy and the most fun you will have is trying to figure out a clever way to return it after playing it for a few hours. It's an expensive downgrade from last year that they make you pay for. They are constantly trying to make you pay more money while in game and for nothing at all.

    Dislikes:
    1) Face of the Franchise story is shortly lived. Although intriguing I wish it was a little longer.

    2) In game presentation is still the same with much more to be desired.

    3) Half-time show needs an overhaul.

    4) Challenge replays are complete CRAP! When the refs are reviewing a play most of the time you cant really see if the player truly had both feet in bounds or not because the camera isn't where it should be. It is just horrible.

    5) The crowd needs to be have better interaction and needs to look better. In a real game you will see people interacting with the camera whether it be yelling at the top of their lungs, showing their team signs, etc.

    6) During the intro of a game I would like to see the team records be displayed as in real life that is what is displayed.

    7) Lack of draft stories in Franchise Mode. Throughout the season you will only see 2-3 draft stories and that is a complete bummer because in real life you will see a ton of stories on the upcoming prospects.

    8) Franchise Mode news. The league news in general is just cluttered and all over the place. You will have tweets everywhere and the desire to read them isn't high at all.

    9) The characters on the sidelines could be more interactive.

    10) After I won the AFC Championship game you would expect to see players celebrating that they are moving on to the Super Bowl, but nope it was just treated as any other regular season game. A locker room celebration would be nice. This includes the Super Bowl as the celebration is shortly lived as you will only see your players hold up the Lombardi Trophy for less than 10 seconds. Player comments would be nice to.

    11) There is also repetitive commentary and there also needs to be more interaction with the commentators as well. Like seeing them actually talk to one another about the game during a break or something would be nice.

    12) EXTREME LACK of immersion.

    13) In franchise mode the scenario engine is intriguing at first however it gets really repetitive and annoying after awhile.

    14) Franchise mode offseason NFL Draft. what needs to happen is Roger Goodell needs to come out and announce the picks to make the Draft more immersive. But the only thing we get is a bunch of people in the crowd staring at a screen and also an empty stage with no one at the podium. Whatever happened to Trey Wingo recapping your draft selection? The Draft needs an overhaul as well.

    15) You also have the occasional players bumping into each other after a play is done which takes away from the experience.

    16) I could go on and on with the dislikes but this game just comes down to an EXTREME LACK OF IMMERSION!

    17) When playing a game in Face of the Franchise mode your offensive players don't play like they should. For example most of the time a running back will not attempt to juke a defender as he will run right in to them or when a running back is running to the outside they will veer to the inside where the defenders are and not remain on the outside where he could evade the defenders and score a TD.

    Likes:
    1) Face of the Franchise mode is a nice addition.
    2) Gameplay seems more fluent.
    3) In game scoreboard has changed.
    4) In Face of the Franchise I like how you can talk trash to your opponents via text message. It kind of makes you want to play your best game.

    Conclusion:
    EA once again disappoints it's fans of the game as you would expect a Madden 20 game to be a lot more immersive. Honestly looking at a Madden 10 game to a Madden 20 game you would of thought this game would be amazing but 10 years later here we are and most people are still disappointed. It makes you wonder what EA has been brainstorming (if at all) these past years and somebody needs to be fired in order to get past the brick wall that most fans have been stuck behind for years. I don't even give any attention to the MUT mode and for every review I have seen that is what EA is focusing on more than anything else it seems.    … Expand

I was looking for something simple to play while on holiday; so I was like: oh; I haven't played madden in forever; lets buy that. Well that was a huge mistake. After it loaded; it asked me to login to an old email address that I had zero access to any longer as the company shut down; many years ago. So; I went to EA.com and opened a case, they denied my case because apparently your social security number; bank accounts, phone numbers and addresses aren't enough evidence for their employees to use for verification. So I opened another one, they denied that one as well. Furious; as I could not play online or anything I called them; they answered with a robot lady that said to file a case (of which I already had twice); so I found another number and by some miracle was put on a waiting list for a call back. After waiting for a couple hours I got a call from a very nice lady who asked me; once again to open a case; I told her I had already multiple times and they were closed. She asked for more information; case numbers; etc... After a long wait she opened another case while speaking with another person who just so happens to be the person who closed my other cases. This person decided instead of picking up the phone of which I was on, to send me another email requesting more information; then requested I turn off all my privacy settings on my PS4 so they could send me an email. So I did; then it finally worked; except for when I logged back on the the PS4; it asks for email confirmation; but never sends any email. So frustrating;

    but anyways; I finally was able to login to the game after paying a bunch of money for the game to Sony and spending many hours with EA; finally able to play so I was like YAY.

    Worst. Madden. Ever. Been a loyal Madden fan for over 20 years and I am officially done. Madden 19 was the turning point. Horrible product. Trend continues. Thank God I didn’t buy it this year. If you are a true Madden fan, PLEASE STOP BUYING THE GAME EVERY YEAR!!!!!!!! Only way to drive change.

    This is the worst football game I have ever played. There are a few nice things like the ability to relocate a team and customize uniforms. The superstar mode was a nice touch even tho they removed it after already being in previous maddens for several years. The bottom line is that the gameplay is absolutely terrible. Multiple times I’ve scored a touchdown only to have the game glitch and place me on the 1 or 2 yard line despite the game acknowledging its a touchdown with its scoreboard graphics and commentary. That’s inexcusable and was not a problem on prior games. Then there’s the difficulty problem. Every single mode outside of all madden is way too easy. When playing on all madden however, defense is incredibly difficult. QBs will complete almost every single pass on you with pin point accuracy and wide open receivers all day long. Coverage is pathetic and completely non-existent. On offense, several dropped wide open passes with the same animations over and over again. Pathetic run and pass blocking (unless you edit the sliders). Then you add the fact the commentary is almost identical to the year before and some of the phrases have been in the game since madden 17. It’s laughable how re-hashed this game is. It’s time for EA to put some real effort into this game or give up the license for good because every year the quality is going drastically down. This years madden is the worst version I have ever played in 20 years of playing the game. Almost every single game will leave you wanting to snap the controller in frustration unless you like playing on the easy settings and dominating every game.… Expand

    This game has tons of glitches just like last years hand and the one before it so on and so on. It’s animation heavy and even has a madden 19 banner hanging in the practice stadium.     I have played Madden since 1996 I care about the Madden franchise. I think a true review needs time to marinade and wait until the final product is out. QB1 Face of the Franchise is a good game mode but I wish it was deeper like NBA2k. I don't see my money I’ve earned while playing as a starting QB. I don't have a place to live or decisions to make. I know the PS2 games are considered the best and I agree but a great looking game will always catch eyes much better than a PS2 game. The gameplay is the best on this generation in my opinion. I've played Madden 25 and others but I truly think this gameplay is very good. There is still bugs but the QB can actually throw over LB now. RB's can actually gain yards and break away to the second or third level. At first the refs would give the call backwards not even facing the camera and I was upset about this because it really pulls you out of the immersion. This has now been fixed with a patch thanks to my tweet and input. My WR scored a TD and the announcers said "Touchdown" yet the game did not give me a TD. This is on my YouTube channel for proof, this has also now been fixed but how do you let that go on a football game? The whole point of the game is to cross the goal line. How is this still a bug in 2019? The blocking was bad at first. Now we have X factors on the O Line which is great. BTW X factor is a great addition and lot's of fun for an arcade experience but I don't think it works for simulation football? Players don't get stronger when playing better. But I do get being hot for some games. Now in pre-snap you can tell the O line to double block a defender. HUGE improvement that I don't think has ever been in a game before. Playing as Aaron Rodgers and telling the O line to double team Khalil Mack feels very realistic. Pro Bowl is back and that's good but why was it ever removed? Being able to play the Pro Bowl at anytime is fun with friends who just want to play an all star game. Glad there is some college football. It would be great to implement both into one game in the future. It is fun, I'm enjoying myself playing this game and I do have fun. But not much else to do in the franchise. The bad is no refs on the field, no way to pump up the crowd as a player on defense for the first time in 15 years...this is a sad omission that I hope they bring back, I wish I could import a playbook from a previous game. A true weather implementation would be great, I'm in Wisconsin and if it's a snowy-day it would be great to play the game and have the same weather currently in Green Bay. NCAA 14 had this option in 2013 PS3 game. I wish there were classic teams like in the PS2 days. NBA 2K has this. I can be the 93 Chicago Bulls and play as Michael Jordan or I can choose all time Bulls. Why can’t I choose 96 Packers and play as Brett Favre or Reggie White or play as the 1966 Packers as Bart Star? I could do this in Madden last time was Madden 07 on PS2. They have the players association and classic players in MUT why can’t these players be in a quick head to head mode like NBA 2K? I wish franchise mode was more immersive. NBA2K and MLB the Show have a much deeper game.
    Overall I am kinda sad at all the features they have taken away throughout the years. Madden 2005 had more franchise features and again NCAA 14 had a lot more details and more immersion that is just not here. Not sure what they are doing at this studio all year? Why take so much out of a game when each year the expectation is that you will add MORE features not less?    … Expand

    Blatant cash grab. Terrible gameplay and depth of franchise or superstar mode. Animation driven and gimmicky whilst full of bugs. EA blatantly pay review sites to give generous reviews. Simple, read the actual reviews of users of the games. Avoid EA like the plague.

    I played just the pro bowl while waiting for the game to install..nothing but glitches, really low AI IQ, literally had AI players walking in the middle of gameplay. Only thing EA cares about is improving microtransactions.

    This is the same game as my 2015,2016 give me a break. This monopoly has gone on for far too long. We need competition in this space (NFL 2k please). Don't buy it!

    I couldn’t force myself to even buy the game so I waited for my cousin to buy it and thank goodness I didn’t...it really is a carbon copy of last years game...please someone who’s in charge let’s let 2K games make an NFL game!

    Same repetitive game X Factors were in it in 08 only thing New is pass rush being fixed and some what a running game that feels like madden 25 great value a little better but not as good as 25 other then that it sucks and I regret buying it

    The game is extremely glitchy fixing little to none issues from previous games. Face of the Franchise is basically Franchise mode but only with cut-scenes in the beginning (might I add not great). Nothing is as good as it used to be as it was in Madden 07. DO NOT PLAY I LITERALLY THREW MY CONTROLLER BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF GLITCHES THAT HAPPENED IN ONE GAME. SO DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

And    I do not buy Madden every year. I try to go 1-3 years between games, since I'm so used to EA Sports not actually offering much in the way of upgrades. I decided to buy Madden 20 this year.

    First, for a franchise that boasts hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue each year, it's absolutely baffling that they have THE WORST create-a-player of any of the major sports franchises. And it's not even close. Even if the triple the quality of this create-a-player, they're still going to easily be the worst. So, if you're hoping to create a player that looks even somewhat similar to you, give up that pipe dream straightaway.

    Second, the one and only on-field improvement I've seen is that defenders are less likely to leap and deflect a pass with an unheard of vertical leap. They're a bit more realistic in that regard.

    That's it. That's the only improvement. Here's where it gets bad:

    The AI ball-carrier does not run on a smooth path. Instead, a "quick-cut" animation is played on the player model, to get the runner moving end zone to end zone quicker. The problem with that is sometimes the QB will lead the receiver so they can continue on that path and gain easy yards. Then ball-carrier will do this quick-cut animation and get annihilated by the pursuing defender, turning a sure multi-yard RAC into 0-1 RAC yards. It cheapens defense against the AI and ruins drives when playing Face of the Franchise, where you only control your QB.

    Defenders are still better at catching the ball in traffic than the receivers, which is frustrating. The only exception to this rule appears to be Tight Ends who can catch with a defender on their back. Every other receiver, even big, strong guys like Mike Evans, will drop passes that are already secured in both hands, if there's any kind of contact. There's also a bunch of canned animations that are designed to make it appear as though the defender is batting the pass away as it hits your hands. It's extremely frustrating.

    Ball-carriers will NOT reach for the first down or the goal line. Not even a little. Think about how many times in an actual NFL game a runner will reach the ball forward for the extra yard when going out of bounds, or diving for a first down, or trying to get across the goal line. This is completely unacceptable in 2019.

    AI ball-carriers will juke players that are actively getting blocked, allowing pursuing defenders to close the gap and bring them down, rather than alter their running lane for easier yards. They often ignore the wide open field, more concerned with the closing defender than altering their path to lead away from the defender to the open space and pick up the yardage. The AI ball-carrier will even juke AWAY FROM A FIRST DOWN to avoid contact. It's incredibly idiotic.

    Receivers will sometimes not enter into catch animation sequences, causing them to appear clueless as to what to do with that oblong spheroid that was just chucked into their chest. Defenders will occasionally jog, instead of sprint, when pursuing ball-carriers - which is frustrating when they're the last defender between the ball-carrier and the end zone.

    Speaking of animation sequences - the game triggers the "tackle-by-the-facemask" animation sequence entirely too often. We're talking 6-8 times per game (5 min quarters, default penalty settings). In fact, the overwhelming majority of penalties are facemask, with offensive holding a distant second.

    The last thing is that the presentation is just a minimal effort. You really yearn for the "good ol' days" of console football games, where they tried to make it seem like some sort of TV broadcast with a pre-game, half-time, and post-game show. It's been years since we've had that. I don't have any hope that it will return while EA Sports has the lineup.    … Expand

    If I could give this a negative score I would. Not to mention the players look ridiculous as they run, and with the same animations we've seen the past 5 years. The stadiums and crowds looked better on last gen consoles. This is embarrassing.

    Added the ability to play pro bowl and superstar abilities. Both were features in older versions of madden. EA continues to remove features and add them back in later and call it new. Franchise mode takes a back seat again. They make millions every year and continue to put out the same game. Nothing will change as long as we continue to buy the games.

    Very disappointing was a big fan of Madden years ago but these past few years been rough man lol I already traded my game in for cash it's not innovative at all just a bland game I hope they get it together for next generation consoles but I'm done

    Madden NFL 20 is still one of the best videogames if you want to simulate any sport but it's very clear that it needs more: more graphics, more gameplay changes, more news in its modes... X-Factor is a good new, but still insufficient to sense that gameplay is different that last year's edition.

    Madden NFL 20 takes a step in the right direction and I really enjoyed the X-Factor additions to the series. While I still think some form of competition would force EA to make more drastic changes, I’m not optimistic with any developers taking a spin with the football genre (maybe the XFL?). If you haven’t caught the pigskin for a few seasons, Madden NFL 20 is the right route to run for this year. With the new consoles coming (most likely) next holiday, I’m looking forward to seeing what EA builds upon from Madden NFL 20 and brings over to next gen. For now I’ll enjoy taking the Broncos to the Super Bowl, while beating up the cover pretty boy, Mahomes (not bitter at all).
