Collectibles feel cheap and don't create any motivation to explore entire levels while the new mechanics and tools sprinkled throughout do little to make the experience any more enjoyable. Its really a shame how the series dropped, I felt the story was really odd for this one and it had a really weird mission system with not nearly enough unlockables and tried to focus on that with paid ones. Its still more lbp so you can't be disappointing but it just didn't have the charm of the first one

(8/10) - Another great game in the trilogy. The things holding it back are the story mode and the spotty online servers.

The story is charming and simple, the game play is good as well. Little big planet 3 is a 2.5d platformer based off the players imagination. Being made by sumo digital instead of media molecule is very saddening and the game is worse for it, but despite its many many flaws it is a great game and I would recommend it even if its more of a kids game

This is a great platform game I liked it a lot. This is my second Little Big Planet game and my favorite one. The added characters are a great addition to the franchise and to play as. However, the only issue for me was the last levels where you have to replay from the start after you failed many attempts. Taking that aside is a great game.

It's a serious damn shame what happened to this franchise. LBP 3 introduces new sacks to play with, but they don't offer the versatile gameplay that was promised.

This game went above my expectations. The characters are really charming and the platforming is great ! I'm impressed by the overall quality of the game even though it's quite short...There is a difficulty spike at the end but it remains forgiving. I'm looking forward for the Sackboy game on PS5 now :)

LittleBigPlanet 3 is good game, but the story is pretty lackluster and it was incredibly buggy at launch to the point where the game was almost unplayable. Thankfully, most of them were patched later on, though it still doesn't change the fact that Sony rushed LBP3.

There are a couple of very noticeable bugs that haven't been fixed, such as profile corruptions, random online disconnects, crashing after using the home menu on PS4 while in an online game, pod window distortion when transforming into other characters, and soft locking, but the game is still rather enjoyable thanks to what good things it has to offer.

Online multiplayer is more enjoyable with experience with the franchise, and as long as all players have a great internet connection. However, not being able to join someone requires closing the application, and opening it again (for PS4 users). PS3 and PS5 users don't have this issue, so they're fine not having that issue. Unfortunately, cross-platform play is not added in the game, so PS3, PS4, and PS5 users can't play with each other online.

The community levels are all over the place when it comes to how good they are to play. Most Team Picked levels may be enjoyable for certain players, but most of them have level design issues, and falling out of bounds. Others like hangout levels, scenery, films, etc. are more enjoyable to experience. There is some cringe, but I suggest not going to those levels if they're really not your type. Trying to create good levels is something to get interested in, but it takes a lot of trying to get used to the tools of the game.

While I don't like these said issues, they take time to get used to. If LittleBigPlanet 3 really isn't your cup of tea, you can try the other titles, Dreams, or advanced creating software on PC. By the way, this game is pretty fun to mod or use modded tools if you're into that, but having experience of the game, and knowing links to LittleBigPlanet Discord servers is required.

Overall, this may not be something to keep a grasp on for the average player if they're not that experienced with the franchise, so attempting to master the previous titles is recommended. I feel like things like this should definitely be more noticed by many other players looking into the game, so my real rating for this game would be 4/5 stars because of the enjoyable parts. It's okay to have your own opinions as long as you have good reasons to feel a certain way about something, and that you can properly criticize something with much experience with the topic.

The change in the structure of the game is good for me, the interconnected levels with freedom to choose the missions at any order, the side quests and the co-op missions are fantastic additions to the traditional LBP story mode.

Not everything is good here, campaign is a little bit short if you don't complete side quest and the new characters only have a couple of playable levels on this mode,a wasted opportunity for me.

I finished the “main story” game, and I played a fair number of community levels and still feel there is a lot to discover in this game.

I do think this LBP is a lot like the other LBPs, which isn’t bad in itself, although you won’t find a lot of new, super-exciting stuff in my opinion. Having said that, this game still excels at what is supposed to be good at, as a level editor.

Gameplay is very similar to the other ones; this is a platform game with a lot of puzzle-like kind of things. The “main campaign”, it is good fun and it serves its purpose as a kind of tutorial of the kind of things you can do in LBP, plus you need to do it to unlock a lot of stuff to then build your own levels. There are quite a few multiplayer cooperative levels, which are absolutely fantastic fun, downside is that you’ll need people to play them as, literally you cannot do it on your own. Also worth mentioning is that, if you’re after unlocking all the bits and pieces, you’ll also need to find other players, as some of the secret areas can only be accessed if you got help from another sack boy. If you have some regular friends to play, then the better, but the game itself has a “party finder” tool that works reasonably well.

As in the other LBPs, the “main campaign” only scratches the surface of the game. There are some absolutely fantastic and fun levels out there that have been made by other players. You can find very different focuses, from platform classic levels, to puzzle focused levels to super-fast, frenetic levels. There is a level for everybody here. Even if you don’t like creating your own levels, I think just playing other people’s levels is fantastic. Other people’s levels are rated by the community, so it is easy enough to avoid playing those that are bad because you’ll basically see bad reviews/low scores. I don’t think the community is very toxic in this game as I found the reviews usually correlate with reality. In practice, this game is in essence infinite, you’ll play it until you get bored, because there are just thousands of levels, so in terms of duration, I believe you can stay with this game for a lot of hours.

Graphics are decent for this kind of game, no complaints in there. Music, as usual (in my opinion) in LBPs is fantastic. Some really nice songs in there.

Bad things, multiplayer felt a bit laggy at times, not a lot of times but more than average. Also, I think this game has unfortunately been cut into pieces (DLC pieces) a bit too much. There a lot of extra things you can buy with real money, that hinders a bit the creativity when it comes to level creation; don’t get me wrong, the default stuff is numerous and very nice, but there are a lot of things locked in dlcs. If you liked the other LBPs, this is a safe choice I think, if you like platform games, there is a good chance you’ll like this one. I do believe, however, is a lot more enjoyable if you’re open to multiplayer, so if you’re looking to solo a platform game, you might wanna look elsewhere.

With this being my first LittleBigPlanet experience, I found it to be a satisfying, delightful and colourful platforming world. However, I can't say that LittleBigPlanet 3 has much replay value after completion of the main story.

I played 2 hours of this game. The majority you barely play. It is mainly boring story.

Compare this with games like Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario. They let you play the game 90% of the time.

Having an Elvis impersonator follow you around while 50's music plays is not fun. I don't want cliches. It's just so uninspiring. A chore to play.

P.S. stickers are not fun or pleasing.

The Adventure mode is the shortest and by far the most boring out of the 3 LBP games I have played (the others being LBP 2 and LBP Vita). Other than that, everything else is exactly the same as previous games, because the series hasn't progressed much since LBP 2. There is the usual 4 player co-op (both online and offline), there are some gadgets, there is the usual nonsensical story and some cute art style, but nothing new. The new characters could have refreshed the stagnating series' core gameplay, but sadly they are little more than a cameo.

Aside from that, there are more and better tools than ever to build whatever you want in Creation mode and better tutorials to understand how it works. You can make anything ranging from a simple platforming level and an basic arcade game, to whole cut-scenes/movies and even entire games like RPGs. It's essentially a suite to create games for those who are patient and skilled enough. The LBP community have created some amazing things you have to check out. You can also import levels built on previous games, so you have instant access to pretty much all of the user-generated content since the first LBP game.

LBP 3 is still a good platform game to play either solo or with friends, but fans of the series won't find much to excite them. It's a pity LBP has hit a wall, there may not be another new LBP game, and original developers Media Molecule are now working on Dreams. Let's hope for the better.

Another fun game in the series. Also probably the last. Story is pretty short (under 6 hours). Level creation is fun and you can do incredible things with it. Game released with many bugs but they are pretty much all fixed nowadays. I got the game "free" from Playstation Plus. Best thing about the game is multiplayer and level creation!

The game's strength still lies in it's player created levels. The strong building tools you are given can allow you to make just about whatever you want. The option to share your creations and experience the work of others is just as great as ever.

However, unlike the previous LBP, the creation is really all the game has going for it. While that's more than enough to ensure that the game has a long lifespan, it's missing all the other stuff that made LBP 2 so incredibly enjoyable. There's a cool new mode that introduces you to the game's building mechanics through puzzle like levels, but ultimately it doesn't last very long. The biggest disappointment comes from the Adventure mode.

With things like new playable characters, a larger emphasis on storytelling, cool items, and new approaches to level design, one would think this would be the best adventure yet. Unfortunately the storytelling falls flat. I stopped paying attention almost immediately and the humor is strangely missing. The actual gameplay is fine, but it isn't long before things start to get on your nerves, especially with the late game difficultly spikes. It's only a few hours, but still managed to overstay it's welcome. By the time the credits rolled I was more than happy to be done with it's quest.

The return of the creation tools is the reason you should give LBP 3 a chance. There are plenty of new options and the game still serves as a great way to show of your creativity and imagination. If you can stomach the adventure mode, there's a lot of things to do thanks to the introduction of side-quests and the plethora of collectibles hidden throughout. It's got some nice, expanded co-op options that could prove very enticing for you and a friend. Yet, even with all of that there is still something incredibly disappointing with LBP 3. It's just not as charming as it's predecessor. Something that's probably due to the change in developers. It's not like Sumo Digital made a bad game. It's just that you can tell it's missing the Media Molecule touch.

Nonetheless LBP3 is still at the very least a decent game. One packed with content and some stunning tools that allow for seemingly endless possibility. It still allows you to flex your creative muscles and share your ideas with the world, all the while seeing what others are up to as well. If that sort of thing is up your alley, then this is the game for you. However, if you're just looking for a fun platformer game then this may not be for you. It's single-player offerings aren't among the more satisfying options out there.

The platforming is still solid, the levels are still creative, and the characters are still eccentric. However this feels like a DLC for LBP2 at most. The game is much, MUCH shorter than 1 or 2, with only three main hub worlds with three missions in two and two in the final one, plus the final mission, with some sidequests in between. I pushed through the whole thing in 2-3 hours at most. The new characters are the USP of the game, with three different characters to choose from, each with their own abilities and traits. However, just like the new gadgets the game introduces in a gadget wheel, they all just amount to gimmicks, with nothing really big to do with them, save for the final boss fight.

The level design, although fairly balanced, isn't nearly as good as anything in LBP1 or 2. They're also much shorter and generally less fun to play around in. The musical score isn't as lively and energetic as it was, and the game as a whole just feels less... fun. Which is the entire point of this series.

The multiplayer is also broken. Connection issues are the worst they've ever been, and connecting online outright doesn't work most of the time, requiring you to go back to the XMB and restart the entire game just to cancel it trying to connect. The Dive In function in PS4 does not work. It actually is broken. You press the button and nothing happens, so that's cool.

So overall, the game's single player is dumb, and its multiplayer is nearly non-functional, so this game is hardly a game at all. It's amazing how they skimped on the single player so they could get away with having the community make the game for them and they failed at even that.

Handing over this game to a different developer definitely hurt the game more than it helped it. For a game supposedly about imagination, the game seems to offer very little of it.

The devs have prettymuch abandoned the game really. The community is still good but everything seems a little less lively.

Newton wants to become the most creative person in the imagishpere and its up to you to stop him, so you set out to awaken the legendary sack heroes…
This is my 2nd favorite littlebigplanet campaign behind the original..
And of course you can play with friends or alone
The campaign clocks in at around 5 and half hours and not only offers a decent challenge... but a great variety in level design that’s fun to play through and sparks the imagination for those interested in designing levels for the community…
Each world acts as a hub world with 2-3 main missions and a few side missions
In the main missions you’re going through unique and charming levels to collect a marble..
These levels all feel different and each world introduces a new gadget to use...
which give even more possibility to level design…
You do occasionally have to reuse these items in later levels of the game... but I really appreciate the fact that they didn’t shove them all down your throat to use at once...
There’s no constant switching items which I find insanely annoying when games do that…
You’ll primarily be using 1 gadget and 1 gadget only in each level..
These levels also of course contain prize bubbles which adds variety to the creation tool giving creators incentive to play through the campaign other than to get ideas for all of the cool new hazards…
Sadly I feel the customization items for your characters are a bit lacking.. Tons of costumes... but very few accessories and other items to make you feel truly unique...
However if you have played through little big planet 1 or 2, you get to import your unlockable from them
once you’ve gathered both marbles or all 3 you unlock one of the 3 legendary heroes…
There’s Oddscock, Toggle, and Swoop… all of which are even more fun to use than sackboy…
Oddscok is a dog like creature that can run up walls and wall jump…
Toggle is the brute that can toggle between large to weigh platforms down or break items and to a smaller version to get launched into the air, walk on water and fit into small cracks... a character who I believe had the most promise in terms of level design… and swoop is a bird that can fly and swoop…
Sadly each of these characters only have 1 dedicated level each..
They’re so fun to play as that I actually wouldn’t have mind if sackboy got a bit of a break and most of the levels belonged to them…
But not completely focus on the new 3 because sackboy is still the star...
Each world also ends in a boss battle… and the final 2 levels are dedicated to all 4 characters which are easily the more stressful parts in the game…
especially considering the checkpoint limits where when you die too many times in one spot you’re punished by having to restart the entire level..
I’ve never been a fan of this concept and I’m still not…
and it definitely sucks when you have to go through these lengthy sections as each of the characters...
mess up with one and you have to do the others you succeeded in all over again…
And the checkpoints here are a little too generous at times in spots they don’t need to be while smacking you with very hard stretches that have no checkpoint in sight…
Making levels feel a little unbalanced at times...
The 2nd chunk of the game comes down to if you like playing levels or if you want to get your hands dirty and design them…
There’s an online mode that lets you play countless levels designed by the community and for those looking to design those levels..
Your only limitations are your imagination and your hard drive...
and of course the 16 layers max for your levels constraint... but you can go wild with everything else as you’re able to link levels and create adventure maps
You can design with any of the characters in mind that again play and feel completely different… it really is a great playground for the creative type.
And littlbigplanet 3 also does a great job at teaching mechanics by delivering tools and their functions in a puzzle mode...
so while you’re getting through these puzzle levels with the tools you’re also learning how to use them in creative mode without realizing it…
Littlebigplanet 3 is a huge improvement that offers a great deal of possibility in level design and gameplay... The campaign feels standalone again and the community creations here are the most impressive yet... so if a 5 and a half hour campaign isn’t long enough to you, head online and enjoy the community levels...
There’s something here for everyone and is a staple that should be in everyone PlayStation 4 collection…
    I give LittleBigPlanet 3

For this third installment it is no longer Media Molecule behind the sackboys so did Sumo Digital managed to make a wonderful game like two previous episodes ?

Technically it is disappointing for an exclusivity, you can clearly feel the weight of the PS3 version, the artistic direction is very cute (like always in LittleBigPlanet) but it could have been better detailed, with more effects (collision, dust, etc.). The server are not the strongest and you can be disconnected pretty often if you play a lot. Clearly not the technical level you could expect from an AAA game backed by Sony.

Concerning the gameplay you will find the three pillars of the game : play, create and share. The play part is upgraded with three new characters, each with their own attributes, it's a good idea, sadly they didn't make a great use of them in the campaign. Which makes for the perfect transition with the "share" pillar, the community of the game is still great, some levels created by regular players are simply amazing and you can find some levels created specifically for those new characters, all the levels from the two previous games are also playable so there is really a lot of awesome content available for the community and brought by this same community. Finally the creating tool is very easy to manage and offers a lot of possibilities.

The story is classic for a 2D platformer, the young ones will probably like it while the older players will be more fond of the characters and the funny dialogues. But the campaign is also pretty short (6 hours to finish it) even if you have to replay all the levels if you want the 100%, but like I said the content from the community is almost endless so you can end up playing the game for more than 50 hours easily.

So in conclusion LittleBigPlanet 3 is a good platformer but it is mostly based on the ground work made by Media Molecule and to its community, Sumo Digital didn't upgrade it enough to make this third installment as great as the two previous one.

My only problem with it is that the story is kinda short, and you can probably complete it in a few hours. They really are encouraging you to play all the creations that users have created. And I love that.

It shows off what the players can do with levels. While there is some poorly-made levels out there, most of the content you'll find our really great levels! You can even play levels made in earlier games. I also appreciate the upgrade from 3 layers to 16 layers, giving you the chance to really expand your levels in very unique ways. I'm not entirely sure if it's something I'll always use, though.

Unfortunately, the DLC is kind of lacking, seeing as there's not many LBP3 exclusive level packs. Really something you should skip over.

Anyway, long story short, it's a great game if you really want to see user-generated content, and I highly recommend you pick this game up.

Having played (and loved) both LBP and LBP2, I was really excited to play this!

The later parts of the game are absolutely infuriating, so much so that i quit playing it, its a real shame because i love sackboy and his new friends! :(

So is it a bad game? No. Its a good game but just too difficult to fully enjoy.

Little Big Planet 3 is not the game I've been waiting for. First off it's way too short you can beat it in like 5 hours!!!!! and it doesn't even feel like an LBP game, likely because it's made by a different developer no longer MediaMolecule it's now SumoDigital. it just feels half assed and not worth your money luckily i got it on a valentines day sale so i wasn't in deep s***

I bought this game whiling to bring my girlfriend closer to my hobby and have fun playing something we both liked and I nailed it, she loved it! And the best part is that I enjoyed it more than I thought!

Leaving aside the obvious that it's a game aims the youngest members of the house, it still has the ability to deliver tons of fun, it's also very good looking, reeeeally colorful, it follows the line of the series. The story is simple and very has a very basic humor, children aimed, but it isn't a bad thing given the type of game it is.

The coop is fun and you'll have a great time, either using the SharePlay or online with random ppl.

I'm not very creative myself, and although I tried to create my world ... I'm a huge mess, so was my girlfriend! But we will try to make our own world even so, we shall succeed! Sooner or later...

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the public worlds of some people are even better than the story itself simply stunning! The community is awesome and I've come to realize that this game is not about its campaign, it's about exploring your creativity and sharing it with everyone on the community.

Its an okay game.... but not really the fun game to play for hours. I spent hours on this last holiday and didn't really play it much after that. I hope i'll play this game again soon.

Campaing is short, story bored, long loadings, gameplay if i compare with rayman legends, this game is simply weak. Get +1 point if you like play community levels or you like creating.

Not nearly as good as the first LBP game, but an improvement from LPB 2. Story was alright, gameplay was better than what it was in LPB 2 and the new creating possibilities are enormous.

Now before I get started I should say that I only played around 2 hours of this game, but that is also part of the problem. The game seems like a chore to play. When I first started playing I wanted to finish the campaign portion of the game, but I just can't force myself to play it for that long. I could not bring myself to play it for more then 30 minuets at a time. I could not bring myself to play it for more then 30 minuets at a time. I liked Little Big Planet 1, and liked what I played of the vita game. But for what ever reason I don't like this game. The charterers in the game are annoying and talk way to much. And the loading times are ridiculous, especially for a ps4 game (also has a ps3 version so it's not like LBP 3 is punching the ps4 to it's limits). The platforming is ok, just ok. This is not a horrible game, it's really not even a bad game. But I could not get into it, and I never want to play it again. But that's MY OPINION. Expand

LittleBigPlanet was my favorite Playstation 3 exclusive, period. It's sequel, while not as good as the first by my standards, upped the ante by introducing new features and a new creator engine. LittleBigPlanet 3 ups it even more, by giving us even more features, and some more playable characters, while it does have some flaws.

The game still has the same charm that made it's two predecessors so noteworthy. Everything is made out of different materials, and our sackboy is still s cute as ever. The story is just your simple story about a hero saving the universe. While it is short, that doesn't bother me. All the levels are so varied, with each taking on a different noteworthy task. One thing that i wasn't too fond of was that all the characters (except playable ones) are fully voiced. For me this took away the charm of the incomprehensible gibberish that all the background characters spoke. I do like the overall voice performances though, especially Hugh Laurie as our lovable semi-villain Newton.

The big new feature that LBP 3 introduces is the new playable characters. We have Oddsock, a dog-like sack creature that is super agile. Toggle, a beefy sack person that can change between big and small. Finally, my favorite new character swoop, a bird sack creature that can fly and, well, swoop. All these characters are so fun to play as, which is why i'm so sad that they aren't in the game that much. But, with the new gadgets available, sackboy is still a blast to play as. As always, you can customize these characters with cute little costumes, which, even if you didn't buy DLC, there are still a lot of costumes. Also, if you link up your LBP account with this, you can get all your costumes, stickers, decorations and goddies from the first two games carried over to this one.

As always, the community levels are amazing. I love seeing all the people across the world putting their spin on the littleBigPlanet level creator. Some of these community levels are even better than the actual levels in the story. The level creator is very in-depth, and maybe a little too in-depth. I found myself struggling to create something outside of a simple platformer, i felt so buried underneath all the features.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is a great game all around, and is one of the best exclusives currently on the PS4. 8/10

LittleBigPlanet 3 is simple and fun platform game, which is certainly a good entertainment for kids and for the teens/adults. I don't see game on my shopping list if you're a humorless person or somebody who doesn't like platforming // 7 points

As usual I had fun with LBP – it’s hard not to love sackboys and sackgirls – but I expected something fresher and more polished from the series’ debut on PS4. [01/2015, p.44]

LittleBigPlanet 3 wasn't an easy legacy to take on, but Sumo Digital made a good job and released the best entry in the franchise to date... but also the most controversial with lots of bugs and missed opportunities.
