As a stand alone game, it’s a great game. Mechanically good and the suspense and scares are there i just felt like i needed more. Compared to the first game it was just really short. Hoping for DLC but im left with an emptiness for more. I love the direction both games have and im all in for it! Just wanted longer play time.

Better yet Worse. It's better because it's more ambitious with larger environments, but worse because the "trial and error" aspect is more laborious, hence more frustrating. I never heard of either part 1 or 2 until last week. I bought and played both this week, back to back. I never had to resort to "looking online for help" with the first one, but I had to twice with this 2nd game. So -1Better yet Worse. Still, nice and creepy, yet whimsical. Fun antagonists. Expand

So, I'm giving it an eight only because of the CLUNKY CONTROLS and that the 2,5D MOST of the time didn't do the trick for me. Don't know why, but at times, it looked like I'm heading towards a door (mostly when being chased), and then I was ending up 1 meter away from it.
The same goes with the jumps: you are 100% sure it's correct, you jump and you fall into eternity.

Had to curse quite a lot of times about it.
It's an easy game, but these things added to the "nightmare" factor :-)

Oh, and the Trophies are just..random things to do. Most of them you have to read online to figure out.

Other than that...9 hrs where for the better 8 of them I had goosebumps from fright every 5 seconds.
Don't know how they do it with both 1 + 2 games, really.

    It's like a "kid's" game but it's a real nightmare. It's morbid, it's grotesque, it's AWESOME.

It's not Monkey Island guessing done with some fun and style, it's just pushing a dumpster close to a hole and then try to jump over it 20 times before you give up and go to the next game.

--The little nightmares are there yes, but they are mainly the result of LOUSY controls. Excrutiating. turned off the game half way through, happens extremely rarely.

The lack of puzzles and tons of unnecessary combat sequences with clunky controls makes part of the gameplay experience reflect on "who the **** came up with that flashlight segment" etc. and that's considering the game is relatively short. As a result the mixed experience of 5 hours of gameplay is divided by half into the annoying part, and the immersive part. P.S last boss fight is cancer

The original Little Nightmares was mostly about stealth. Keep hidden in the shadows, and you might just escape the creatures waiting to catch you. That is what made the game great, and what made it different from so many other games out there.

In Little Nightmares II, Tarsier and Bandai Namco throw some of that winning formula overboard. Instead, we find a loosely connected, confusing narrative - and many fights. Yes, apart from fleeing and hiding, this game is a lot about hitting, crushing and killing.

The visuals and sound design, as well as many of the puzzle based levels, are still top notch, but controls are sometimes clunky. Simple episodes of walking around, finding something and solving a problem are mixed with infuriating, timing sensitive jump and run action. The latter often breaks the flow of the game, leaving a feeling of frustration, rather than a sense of accomplishment, with awkwardly placed checkpoints only adding to this. Also, some scripted character actions look choppy and would have needed a bit more polishing.

Most reviewers seem not to mind all the violence, which perhaps reflects the times we live in. Altogether, Little Nightmares II is too much of an irritation, and too little fun. The semi-predictable ending of this Scandinavian game leaves a similar taste in your mouth like so many Scandinavian TV series have for the last decade. Been there, done that. Please move on.

First of all, I would like to say this game is a large improvement over the first, though it has some problems. I will now give some pros and cons to give the best summary of my experience.

    Pros:

    - Bigger game: It’s larger than the first although I still did complete it within 6 hours.
    - Rich environments. Now they’re even richer and more diverse. Sometimes the camera pans out showing a breath-taking view.
    - Gameplay variety. You get certain objects to use and aren’t as defenceless as in the first game. Though movement still feels a bit sluggish to me, but perhaps that’s just the style.
    - Atmosphere. This is what mostly carries this game which is largely due to the combination of environments, music and enemies.
    - Monster design: Was impressed with the new creepy enemies we saw in his game.

    Cons:

    - Trial and Error: Often it is unclear what the game wants you to do and you resort to trial and error. You respawn quickly, but there’s nothing satisfying about having the good solution, because you’ve tried everything else.
    - Puzzles are mediocre. The puzzles are often too easy or no puzzles at all. I mean kids can’t play this anyway due to how scary it is, so give us something more complex. 1 or 2 puzzles were slightly harder and were enjoyable, but then you had some that had multiple solutions, but the game stopped me in performing one. I thought the game bugged out, but it just blocked me from solving it a certain way. Sometimes it is very unclear why a certain solution works and one doesn’t. I know this sounds vague, but an enemy will react differently if you walk past a certain point or react more slowly once you take another path. To find a solution isn’t intuitive at all then.
    - Linearity: This game is extremely linear. It would be nice if you could find more secret rooms, by finding certain puzzles in the environment that you would otherwise walk past. Sure they’ve got 2 different types of collectibles, but there’s not a sense of freedom to the environment. Especially if you look at the length of the game and the 40 bucks I’ve paid for the complete edition I suspected more secrets and clever puzzles to find. Sometimes you need to find a key, but that key will just be in the room next to you or a 3 minute detour. This could have been explored better. Perhaps a more complex path with a map you need to interact with could really enrich the experience for Little Nightmares III.
    - Chase sequences. There are more of them and they are impossible to get in one go. If you make 1 mistake that makes you lose a second, you’ll die. In other games you notice the enemy running a bit slower if you have a small mistake and here there’s none of that. This wouldn’t be a problem if there was room for error. Sometimes you need to grab a chair, climb something or jump a certain path. If that costs you 2 seconds of thinking, you’ll die. It won’t immediately, but it will 20 seconds later. This makes these chase sequences less enjoyable than they could be as you’ll die around 3 times. So, give us more leeway here. If I do everything perfectly then there’s nothing wrong with that I escape the creepy monster by a substantial margin. That can actually feel very satisfying.
    - Bugs: sometimes my character moved really twitchy or it would not grab certain objects. The worst bug was where I would hit an enemy, but the hit wouldn’t register causing me to die. This made me even stop playing one time and I’ve seen this problem with other players too. They need to fix that asap.

In conclusion it is a better experience than the first game, but does fall short in its simplistic platforming. If you liked the first Little Nightmares than you’ll definitely like this one. If you like clever platforming puzzles and a more non-linear experience than this might disappoint you.

Sadly, the game falls short where it should count the most and thats in the gameplay. It takes it cues from the "Limbo" from the 360/PS3 era that really captivated gamers, so Little Nightmares isnt really paving the way for anything so much as its tagging along. It also borrows a lot from "Escape Plan" that released years ago on PS Vita and also from, believe it or not, "LittleBigPlanet". Before Little Nightmares was birthed, Traiser did a little project for PlayStation called "LittleBigPlanet Vita" and then Traiser came up with "Little Nightmares" now published by Namco Bandai and finally, the game tries to act sneaky and throw in some either: Ninja Gaiden, Demons Souls, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, yake your pick "difficulty".

The problem with what Little Nightmares and, thus, Traiser have tried to achieve is a game they feel is challenging. The problem is, challenging is still fair and Little Nightmares isnt what I would call fair. It has really floaty controls that they tried to take from LittleBigPlanet like youre floating on the moon and then they want to give you tense moments where you need to act quick. The later type of gameplay needs tight responsive controls in order to work, which Little Nightmares II doesnt have making those areas wonky and frustrating and taking try after try until you can get lucky enough to pull it off, because if that stick is just off, the game will punish you for it, even if you have to swerve and you do, and try to go back and its over. Thats lazy programming as well. There were times even that felt like I was replaying that moment and the game felt like I didnt want to do it their way and sped up to catch me and make me start over again to do it "A-B" their way. It really felt off. Its like the game wants you to use trial and error to figure out and master the game, bur you cant do that with floaty controls. LittleBigPlanet could do that, because the game was designed for that, this isnt.

Most of the puzzles do a good job and making the game fun but there are many that dont make any logical sense so when you figure it out, its like, how was I supposed to know that? Theres the invisible wall where you could just maneuver around and object but they wont let you so the level design is cheaply done (they cheated to try and make it work in other words) but lots of puzzles are good fun and satisfying when you figure them out. All said, the trial and error is pretty rediculous with those controls. They were trying to play too much on their LittleBigPlanet experience and use that to slingshot their reputation and sadly, it hampers it because it makes cheap and frustrating gameplay you gamer rage at. I wouldnt call it masterfully planned like Limbo and its sequel Inside.

The visuals are a sight to behold. I love the character design in this and how twisted and contrasting it makes everything feel, you really feel like youre in this warped world and you really enjoy learning a little about your antagonists. The teamwork you have with your partner is a welcome and could been fun as multiplayer coop figuring things out with a friend, thats kind if a missed opportunity, kind of the Sonic 2 gameplay element.

At the end of the day, its not broken, its just not as polished and as well thought out as they wanted their reputation to be and I think most gamers that play this game will see it as such. Traiser had the atmosphere right and an intriging cast of characters, but the controls ruin and frustrate it and logic wasnt well used in all the puzzles

Its one worth playing, at the right price, maybe $15, as it is a budget title, but expect to be doing some yelling. Traiser wants it to feel challenging, but in the end you find its more confusing and you really ought to go and play the games granddaddy that started it all that achieves more what this game tries to set out to do but as a consumer, you cant win em all, theyll pull one over on you here or there to make some money, but youll have a fun enough time with this one, at least for its setting and cast of characters, just don't expect the hollywood blockbuster, its an indie experience that needed some extra polish, but its worth giving a go, just not really at $30.

Despite some rather annoying trial-&-error sections and puzzles which feel a bit too easy, Little Nightmares 2 managed to excite us from start to finish. Visuals are great, sound design is awesome, gameplay offers a fair amount of variety and the environmental story-telling again works excellent. Sadly this scary adventure is already over after roughly seven hours.
