I really love Lego games and I'm 50 yo and with a nice disposable income; so this game is really fine-tuned to empty my wallet. There is much to love here; the main story, the adventure worlds, the actual building of lego toys. That and a sweet humor that just hits the right spot is together wit easy co-op where one other player can drop in or out whenever is really the best parts.

From my point of view the main problem is not the price or all the very obviously locked areas that requires you to by yet another figure or set, but the wast differences between the different adventure-lands; they are at the same time very different and very much the same (there are just so many kinds of side quests to do, so many ways of building a small but comprehensive version of a world). I kind of miss the very big and varied world of Lego City Undercover; that game's mix of lego-game humor and a GTA size map was a stunner.

    The good:
    Humor
    Easy multiplayer
    Great worlds

    The bad:
Suddenly mu living-room is full of lego

Very high-quality and polished and most importantly - lots of fun! Yes, it is expensive (I bought all the level and team packs and some of the fun packs) but if your are also a LEGO brick fan then the value is just right.

Regarding the LEGO, the micro builds are very intricate and feature building techniques that are often only used in more advanced sets. If a family is not familiar with LEGO they may even find them a challenge but actually it means that the brick-built LEGO models are very nice. It really does make you feel like your LEGO minifigs and sets have come to life. And that really puts a smile on the faces of my kids as well as on my own.

The game is not perfect though. I really hope TT games adds more stuff to do in the beautiful open worlds (there is sufficient to do now for kids but for grownups the wow-factor quickly wares out). I also hope TT games one day learns how to squeeze out more power of the current-gen systems. As it is, the graphics are fine from an aesthetic point of view but technically speaking, with 2 players, there is frame-rate drop in some open worlds. Most notably the Lego Movie. This game is certainly not pushing the limits of the PS4 hardware when you compare it to other games so it must be that TT does not find this a priority. I hope one day they do since it would add to the polish. Just as long as it does not come at the expense of fun gameplay.

From a gaming perspective then, I therefore knock-off from perfect 10 a point for the odd technical glitches (not enough to put you off mind you) and another point for the lack of sufficient adult fun stuff to do in the open worlds (think for example fun park stuff in GTA 5 that is missing in the fair ground of the Scooby Doo world).

In conclusion, a solid 8 just like the other reviews. That for me means go buy it if you like LEGO games, the toys to life genre and especially if you love LEGO.

Story: Warner Brothers brings us Lego Dimensions, a game that features iconic pop culture, movie, TV, and video game characters by putting them all into one game where there paths cross and the must work together. You start off with the starter pack of characters that include Batman, Gandalf (Lord of the Rings), Wyldstyle (Lego Movie), and Supergirl (bonus on the ps4). These characters join together to stop Lord Vortech from merging all of the universes for him to control. You must build the portal with actual Lego pieces and place the four characters on the on the holders and then putting the holders on the portal platform which makes the characters appear in the game.

Gameplay: This is not your typical Lego game; with other Lego games you are stuck in one universe, with Lego Dimensions you start each level by jumping into a vortex taking you to a famous level inspired by movies, television or video games such as The Wizard of Oz, The Simpsons (Which blew my mind), Back to the Future and so much more. With every level, there seemed to be a pattern of solving puzzles with certain characters, a boss fight at the end of the level, but the game forces you to utilize the portal to solve puzzles and defeat bosses. The only thing that really bugged me about this game was the hire a hero aspect, where in order to get a collectible or to do a certain action you have to spend 50,000 Lego pieces to hire a hero for only a minute which is really unfortunate.

Verdict: Lego Dimensions is a game I anticipated to grow tired of very quickly, but it was extremely enjoyable; the gameplay, dialogue, and humor that came with it especially in each universe like the Simpsons and Back to the Future made this a uniquely enjoyable game. The fun does not end there: Adventure Time, Ghost Busters, Mission Impossible and Scooby Doo are just some of the worlds that players can experience through Lego Dimensions. This game is not just for kids but for all ages, so that they can visit the worlds they grew up with and, it has me hooked.

    Lego Dimensions 9.5/10
    A must buy.

This is a really great game, and the best Toys To Life game so far. The great thing about the toys for this game is that they're actually Lego figures, so if you're a kid and don't actually have the game, you could still play with the figures. The gameplay about what you'd expect in a Lego game, except for the twists and turns that the portal has (the thing that you put the figures on). One of the best Lego games ever made BUT only if you buy most of the packs. When I first got this game it was fun yet painful and disappointing. Coming across gold bricks or parts of levels which you don't have the characters to do is rubbish and easily the worst aspect of this game. Since then I have got all the characters I need and now it's a complete game it is one of my favorite. TheOne of the best Lego games ever made BUT only if you buy most of the packs. LEGO Dimensions is undoubtedly the most interesting toy to life on the market. We finally have a portal that is part of the game and not only serves to virtualize up to seven minifigures.

Lego Dimensions is the most complete title of the Lego franchise. Irreverent, humorous, excellently transmedia, but too expensive for a young videogamer.

LEGO Dimensions is a solid entry in the toys to life genre, even if it simply ends up repeating the classic formula of all the previous LEGO games with the addition of real-life bricks to play with.
